Hi all, I'm new here, infact I'm new to on-line racing, i have owned the game for a long long time and have recently been getting involved in public server races, this is fun but the lack of rules and rule enforcement make the experience too frustrating. So I have downloaded and installed all your files (I think). I've read the rules and would like to enter into this race (or any race for that matter). is it possible for me to enter? also i have looked around the lobby in GTR2 but have not come across any of the servers from this site?.
Please could you let me know if I can join the race? if so what do I need to do. (if not this race maybe you know of another?) and where to find your servers. also I notice you have a practice password? again I see no servers and I do not know what this password is?
any help would be really appreciated.
edit: O.K I know the password now, but I still can't find the servers. My game mode is set to simulator

You might want to start off with something a bit less daunting than a full-on endurance race. 80 minutes of racing, starting in the dark, with variable weather and pitstops including refeulling and tyre changes will be a serious challenge for your first online league race! The sprint races on tuesdays would be an easier introduction if you can make them. You can join any race though if there is room. The server is called 'UKGTR cars 2.9.5.1' and needs that car pack installed. Welcome btw I'm sure someone in pink or green will be along shortly to pressgang you into their team

sorry, I went back and edited it to answer that question. The server is called 'UKGTR cars 2.9.5.1' and needs that car pack installed.

welcome onboard Craske. I wouldnt worry about finding this endurance too daunting for your first race, if anything it means you can bed yourself in a bit easier than a manic 40minute sprint. There is always a spread of skills through the field so you will end up with people to race against. Only things to be aware of are making sure you let leaders past if they are about to lap you, ie dont try racing them ! and dont nerf people off track to gain a place. Those sort of things get hammered here as we like to keep the racing hard but fair. Just read the simple rules, ie you have to make one pit stop etc. Oh and tonight is GTC class so you can only race a car from that group. In the lobby, the race server has 'UKGTR' then the track name as a title. Good luck

If you can get in with the practice password then it is OK I'd say. I don't agree with Mark though. I'd done heaps of online racing before I tried endurance races, but it took about 4 goes just to get the pitstops and stuff right. Maybe I'm just slow though

yes you can just log in using the practise password and practise as much as you like before the actual race event. Luck of the draw whether others are practising on there at the same time mind. Then on race night (ie 8pm sunday) you have the official pre race praccy, qually and race event. And you can always practise your pitstops whilst your in there Make sure when you do your setup for the enduro that you have the right amount of fuel set for your pitstop...ie race for 40mins, pit, put 40mins fuel onboard to get to the end of the race. (always put a bit more on as fuel calc isnt always right).

O.K thanks again, I had a quick look in the practice server was one guy running 1.42s. so i went offline and did a few laps in time trials. now i think if i was to compete i will be using the porshe as this seemed to be my quickest car. I liked the bmw z4 too but theirs some crazy stuff going on with the wing mirrors. Now my best lap was a 1.46 after 5-6 laps in each car without making any changes to the car setup. I'm starting to wonder if i need much more practice before i attempt to race at this level. I don't want to be holding everyone else up.
I assume I'm free to change to car setup as I please?

Hello and welcome Craske Agreeing with Jonzo, don't worry about the times others are doing you will find a good range here. The key to enjoying UKGTR is consistency, staying on track and being aware of the racing manners we try hard to encourage here. Most people find there is a lot of close racing and we tend to find people of similar ability to race against whilst the aliens have their own race at the front. You will certainly appreciate the quality of the racing throughout the field compared to my limited experience of the public races.

5-6 laps really isn't a lot when you are learning a new track and car. People here may have done hundreds if not thousands of laps round hockenheim and will have gradually honed their line and technique. Pick a car and do 50 laps and you will have a better idea of your race pace. Add to that a better setup (soft tyres, low fuel, better balance) I would expect that you could knock a couple of seconds off by the end, which will be fine for the race.
