Moderator's Report

This race was, as we all know, not all it should have been.
Due to a technical problem with servers and their availability, the race distance was shorter than advertised and therefore the posted pitstop times were technically incorrect.

It looks like UKGPL 1 is now breathing again , so hopefully with UKGPL 5 and 6 also available we will not have a repeat of this problem.

There was some confusion about what ( if any) pitstops should be taken.

However, having looked at the results and the gaps between the finishing cars and their respective pitstop lengths, I do not think the stops have made any difference to the standings, as all of the finishers were either on "Stop and Go" or "No Stop". So the actual length of stop did not become an issue, as the Hondas with SnG finished in front of the BRM's who had No Stop.

The possible exception is Bernie in the Cooper,( well it would be wouldn't it!!?) who in the pre race confusion, was under the impression that pitstop adjustments would be applied post race and he finished ahead of Dave in the BRM without taking a SnG.

But a stop and go would have cost Bernie approx 20 secs in time and Bernie had a greater gap than that back to Dave at the finish.

No-one has posted any reports in the court about this race, so unless someone has strong objections I propose that the result stands as it is.

That seems like even more reason to get my box up and running on a modem then. Smiley

My race: tried Geoff's setup which was easy to drive, but had some changes to be made, found a GH setup tuned for the GP race, changed the fuel level, and it was perfect for my style, had everything I was looking for. Start was good, up to 5th or 6th, taking it easy down to the hairpin, overtook with power into the quick right-hander, and was braking for the penultimate corner when I screw the exit up. Fulvio (EDIT: I think, no replay to check yet) fairly NERFS me off the track as I'm rejoining and I'm down near the back with evilclive and Bernie. The next couple of laps were good, was thinking of the pitstop, then hit the inside kerb of that quick right-hander to send me wobbling towards the outside grass where I understeered and found a tree which my Lotus was magnetised to! End of the race, but not after taking out and scaring the s*** out of people coming towards me.

Jethro I think it's always a nice thing to not put names when you are unsure and even when you are sure. Dony has yet assumed the responsability for your off.
I gently ask you to check the replay for a Lotus rejoining the track after it went wide at Paradise, I had to go out on the grass and brake hard to avoid the Lotus cutting the track Wink
I was counting on this race for a good placement but I joined late and on my flying lap in qualy I found a Cooper parked on the fast right hander, so no time for me and I started last but one.
Later in the race I had some dice with Bernie in one of the other Cooper and after I passed him I did the pit stop and he passed me again so we had another dice again till I managed to pass him. Smiley
Then I pushed a lot to try to catch Will but there weren't still enough laps.

Ciao

Sorry Fulvio, edited accordingly now I know which git it was. Wink The part where you had to avoid me was a consequence of my running wide and the inevitable sudden grip of the tarmac versus the grass I'd had half a second previous, there was nothing I could do about it except keep moving smoothly in a single direction without sudden wheel movements and hope you didn't hit me. I had to avoid you on my crash lap though when you mated your car with the hay bales. Smiley

Ok Jetrho, at first it seemed to me a blocking manouvre but I can understand you had handling troubles.

Fulvio

I fear that may have been me, shocked after spoiling Hiristo,s lap , if so I really do apologise .

In mitigation I can only say that I too was on my one clear lap,  due to the shortened practise time and being badly baulked on previous laps I was not driving normally because the qually time was so short.

I honestly believe the car coming behind me was the same car who came out of the pit lane in front of me,  who I passed when he overran the nuevo monde hairpin and had now caught me back up again .

Having seen the replay I now know that car was actually a Lotus and of course it was Hiristo who was coming to pass me in the No1 Moby Dick. Why I didnt note the difference ? perhaps I was concentrating too hard on the road in front and not the mirrors .

Hope I didnt spoil your day too much  Undecided

Not a problem Bernie, it's worst when you lost concentration on last qualy lap cause there is people chatting like last night at Goodwood in GBGPL 65.
I enjoyed our dice in the race too.

I apologize for chatting, Fulvio, but the risk of someone doing so is always there, so your best option is to turn the chat off. It does wonders, trust me. Tongue

This is why there is a rule asking people not to talk (save for POs) until everybody has finished their laps. With some people attempting Senna-like last-gasp efforts, this means you wait for the last person to cross the chequered flag and it says "Session Complete".

Beg pardon but "session complete" does not mean for sure that everyone has completed there lap .

It simply means the chequered is being shown to signify end of session . there could still be a whole bunch  of cars still on there final qually lap , so please keep shtum till all cars have crossed the finish line under the chequered flag .

No, Bernie, Session Complete means everyone has finished their laps. It is Stand By what you're thinking of. Anyway, I know very well the rules Jethro, but I'm saying there is always going to be someone who says something, without intentions to break the rules but out of emotion. Turning the chat off helps a lot, besides there's no real reason why you need the chat while driving, at least I can't think of one.  Cheesy
