I've not had 5 computer freezes since the update.

I will just be driving along and the screen freezes and I get a constant engine note.

Once I restart PC I've used PC wizard to check temperatures and all look fine.

I can go back racing and it seems fine for a while.

Any idea what is wrong?

No idea,
They did say to have a play with your GPU memory slider again.
Also something about mic and sound problems.

Sorry you're having problems Brian. No problems for me since the update.

I had a quick look in the forums and it looks like there's a couple of people with a similar issue but it doesn't seem to be widespread.

Might be worth post?

I think I'd try updating my graphics drivers as a starter for 10...

I've already posted. A couple have had one freeze but seem to be ok now.

I also downloaded the latest drivers last night and it still froze today.

The only suggestion from the iRacing forums is a new install.

How would I go about doing that? Remove program, then log back into iRacing and it will say service not ready where I will download the software and content again?

What about set ups and settings? As they look to be separate are they all kept in tact or do I need to back them up and copy them back?

From the iRacing forums;

Quote
- Save your "tracks" and "cars" in your installed iRacing folder.
- Save "iRacing" folder in mydocuments folder
- Go to control panel
- Click Add/remove programs
- Select "iRacing.com Race simulation"
- Click Remove
- Log in the iRacing website
- Download the Service installer
- Install iracing
- Paste your saved "cars" and "tracks folder in the folder you installed iRacing
- Paste your "iRacing" folder in "mydocuments"
- clic "Start" -> "programs" -> "iracing" -> "Start iRacing Service"
- Log in the website and see if you still need update

You won't loose stats tracks or cars as they are attached to your account.

The procedure to save cars and tracks is just to prevent you from having to download all again but you can do without it.

The mydocuments iRacing folder is to save your configuration files and setups, but you can just save setup folder and start from scratch it will just take a bit more time to DL again though.

The Radeon X1900 in my workstation has blown up since the update. Angry

I don't think I can blame it on iRacing though because it's not installed on that machine. Cheesy

Thought I had fixed the problems by removing the shadows and reducing the memory slider.

It was fine for the last few days.

Yet, today I was racing and it crashed again.

Between my PC crashing and people crashing into me this season has started off a nightmare.

Right, I think I'm on to something with this.

The game crashed again after I was winning the Mazda race by 17 seconds with 3 laps to go.

As usual PC just completely freezes.

I noticed the other week that in the event viewer Bonjour service, which is Ipod related was the last thing logged before the last 3 crashes.

I then removed the Bonjour service and since the last post not a single freeze before tonight.

After checking the event viewer again the last thing that is logged is "ipod service" again at the exact time of freeze.

If anyone else is having problems maybe have a look for this too.

Anyone any idea how to disable itunes/ipod services without removing them?

Have you tried stopping the process from starting in msconfig?

I stopped all the iTunes software.

Tonight another crash during a race. This time it's down to Nokia M platform for my phone.

Why can I do?

This is really getting to me.

Two Windows installs, one clean for games and one for "the rest"?

Perhaps you could try this :

Look at method 2; the reboot option using msconfig works for me.
