Too late with the edit MJ, I enjoyed the rest of the post, the part with you saying you don't like aliens attending who drive off in the distance so that you can enjoy your racing more.

Anyway, before FIA changes too many rules this season, here is what it's all about, the racing.

Well I personally love how aliens come in to race. I wish they would all come to race everyrace which would make it even more awesome. Smiley

As for taking points away that's racing in my opinion. Now just say if you classify these part timers as non-points. Now say if a championship contender is faster than this non points guy but he can't get by him. But because of the non-points drivers, the two contenders are in 1st and 2nd instead of 4th and 6th with everyone being scored points. Even tho they're not right behind each other. That's unfair to the contender stuck behind the non-points driver. And to ask the non-points guy to move over is like asking the driver to not even come race here. So really that non-points thing is a bad idea. The only one thing I could suggest is adding a weight penalty to any driver missing 3 consecutive races for the next race he attends. But the weight comes off if he doesn't miss 3 consecutive races.

I really hope this discussion doesn't stop the aliens from showing up, cuz I'd rather not win a race and race against aliens than win races and not race against aliens. You're not really winning until you're beating aliens. Grin

On another note tho. Team Shark does have the majority of the aliens which kinda sucks for the rest of the teams fighting for the team championship. Perhaps that is what Team Legends is not happy about?

.....and relax.....

ah well, i thought it was worth considering, but obviously not shared by anyone, so forget about it.  Smiley

A dropped score would be useful to cope with discos, holidays , being nerfed off etc but might create admin headaches ?  Undecided

Guess it's the tough road this thread has taken.  Sad  Not in my right or distorted mind would I want anyone feel unwelcome. It's sure as hell better to get as much aliens driving the whole time - it prevents fake illusions of improvement. Didn't we have a "clown" smilie? Ah, here it is  clown

Warmly welcome all - nice to see the server full. Would be nice to have it full also when the testing is being done, eh?  Wink

...

Nah, don't want to write about this anymore. For me the case is closed.  Smiley

TT

P.S. Nicely done video, JR. High quality stuff.  Cool  I'm always proud of UKGTR videos - in difference with other league videos it can be seen we have very few contacts. No shoving around, leaving enough room, racing with brain, not muscle. Is this a friendly Championship then?  ninja

A dropped score would be useful to cope with discos, holidays , being nerfed off etc but might create admin headaches ?  Undecided

The system already has the capability (UKGPL use it) but there's also an element of damned if you do and damned if you don't; somebody who has managed to attend every round just loses out against one of these people who breezes in for the last few races of the season and blitzes them.

We have to accept that the championship here is more fluid than in the more visible real world series simply because there's little or no commitment required to sign up to the whole thing, and short of charging an entry fee I don't see a practical way of creating one (and it doesn't seem to work too well for iRacing!).

You wouldnt get this situation in any real motor sport...can you imagine schumi being allowed to turn up for last 3 rounds of, say BTCC etc and blitzing the field.  Grin

Yes. In fact this situation does arise in the real world sometimes, eg. manufacturers doing a limited number of races in the WRC or ALMS and taking points from the regulars, or drivers standing in for injured ones and taking points.
