Moderator's Report

SUMMARY

A brilliant flag to flag victory for James Rye. James held off a determined challenge from the championship leader Tim Muttram to secure his maiden Clubmans Cup win. Tim kept his championship challenge on course with a feisty drive recovering well from an unforced error in the early stages which dropped him to the back of the field. Phil Thornton grabbed third place on the podium despite several pirouettes on the way.

A very clean race with no reported incidents.

Can't say I was too fond of Jarama, I disagree on the no over-taking comments as I found a couple of places to pass people  - Got Phil nicely in lap1 on the run up the hill under the bridge for example.
Shame I then spun off to the back of the field a couple of corners later ninja

Think I'd have done somewhat better had I actually got some practice in, qualified 3rd on full tanks as I spent the entire practice session working on my setup and span off on my only light fuel load flying lap due to (too) cold tyres  Grin

Start went well but forced myself to hang back as both front row guys were wobbling too and fro, got Phil under the bridge  later that lap then fell off and made my way back up the order.
Found various ways past people (a couple were decent enough to fall off in front of me  Grin) and eventually returned to podium placings...
Claimed 2nd some 20 seconds (I think) behind James and fought back up towards him. Managed to knock the gap down to about 12 seconds by the end so was pleased with my efforts  Smiley

Had a good race, big congratulations to James on his first win  thumbup1 And well done to all the finishers  angel

Clutches can also be considered as shims if you know what thoso are James  Smiley
Basically the more you have in the 'tighter' the diff is, meaning it locks far easier. I tend to run with very few clutches nowadays as that makes the car very easy to aim when off throttle, I also found that that change alone enabled me to take the fast right hander at rouen (before the big straight) without lifting whereas multiple clutches forced me to lift most laps  Smiley
Must admit I found myself wondering if more would be better here but didn't have time to find out in practice - May try it for D1 next Sunday....
