Moderator's Report

SUMMARY

After the early pace setter James Rye retired, Tim Muttram inherited the lead and romped away from the field to score yet another win and secure the Clubman’s Championship. Congratulations Tim, a very worthy champion. On his debut Al Heller stormed to pole position and picked up second place in the race; a phenomenal achievement, well done. Vlad Vosblod drove a steady race and while all those around him were loosing their heads, Vlad stayed cool and brought his Lotus home in third place to claim his first ever Clubman’s podium!

Server replay time: 0h07m49s

Lap 5 – White’s Corner - Michael Turner and James Rye

Michael goes off at turn 9 and makes a complete mess of his rejoin. Having spun the car on the grass he eventually rejoins and drives straight into the leader who is lapping him effectively ruining James’ race.

Rejoining from the grass in the Lotus is very tricky; it is a very powerful car. Nevertheless Michael should have exercised more care. Drivers should always join carefully and gradually, even to the extent of driving along the grass for some considerable distance before easing back into the track, ideally off the racing line.

  • Michael Turnerpenalty — Appallingly Bad Rejoin — 3 places lost

Server replay time: 0h35m34s

Lap 24 – Turn 9 – Bernie Darwin and Jack O’Ferrall

Bernie makes the classic mistake at turn 8. He miss-times his braking over the jump and consequently runs wide, slithering over the grass until he finally comes to rest on the track at the entry to turn 9. Unfortunately he is facing the wrong way but thankfully he is well off the racing line. At this point he attempts to do a 180 but this places him slap bang on the racing line directly in the path of the hapless Jack O’Ferrall. Catastrophic contact ensues.

Bernie had come to rest in a perfectly safe place at the edge of the track and well off the racing line. Moreover he had a perfect view of the oncoming cars and all he had to do was to look back up the track and wait for a safe opportunity to rejoin. However in what appears to be a moment of panic, Bernie tries to rejoin immediately and turned right into Jack’s path.

There's a small chance I'll miss tonight as I only just got back from a weekend at Llandow with my car club - much booze, burgers, and track action ensued and I'm knackered.
That's despite my girly nap between about 2 and 4 PM this afternoon when I finally got home  ninja

I'll try and make it as I love Mosport, but there's a chance you won't see me  Sad

Car was crap.......had about as much of Mosport as I can handle for one month, better off outta there lest lack of interest takes over. Sorry, to whoever it was in the Lotus that nailed me when the fence bounce me back out into the middle of the track after T2.
Grats to Al Heller on a great pole time
Grats to the podium and  finishers...whomever that will be.

thought I had pole in the bag, so practiced on rf. Big congrats to Al  Wink for usurping me at the last minute.

For once I got a great start and led into T1  Smiley. Held off some pressure from Tim and then started to pull away.

My race was then ruined  Angry by someone who got t-boned as they drove straight out in front of me. Some advice: rev it up and spin around.

Anyway I tried to carry on, but something was broken. I lunched down the inside of Phil's Ferrari in a foolish (angry) overtake which I apologise for. As I said, the car wasn't right and I had to reset and take my SNG (which in retrospect I probably didn't need to do) but anyway....I then slid off exiting the pits. Finally got going again and set a good laptime before the BRM's engine blew up.

Grrrr, took another SNG and reset but I was overdriving it and I just went wide and crashed. Then I quit.

Didn't particularly enjoy that one.  Got punted off at T2 ended up at the back of the field on a track that's very hard to overtake and overtaking is my weakest point.

Congrats to Tim M for the win and ? wrapping up the championship. Also well done team-mate Al for second on your maiden foray.
Nice steady race for me. Only spin was an off when trying to lap James A - totally my error, need to practice lapping...
Both Bernie and Phil overtook me so was surprised to be where I was, take it down to pit stops etc.
Towards the end Phil was closing - on the last lap and almost at the flag I saw a red devil in my mirrors. My heart was pounding but just scraped through in front sweatdrop Turns out it was Steve B not Phil, didn't get much time to look at Prib in this race.
Anyway shocked, surprised but very pleased to get the third spot  Grin

Another crap performance from team pie eater ,was feeling really knacked after a late return from the IOM . couldnt get near my 1m22 PB in practise so tried with full gas and was 2nd fastest for a while before getting relegated.
When the flag dropped I got bogged behind the slow starting lotus but eventually got past Vlos into P4 ? but I was making to many mistakes trying to get up with the leaders then when one dropped out I was P3 but still way behind , after my pit stop I was back behind Vlos again but still making stupid errors , Phil came by a couple of times but he to was having trouble keeping on the black bits so P3 seesawed around between the 3 of us . near the end I made a big error at the "jump " landed wrong went grass cutting then a right mess of my re join and collected a car or two (JackO ? ) sorry if I wrecked your race , no doubt I will be suitably admonished come judgement day .

Disaster from start to finish. Multitudinous apologies to James who was the victim of my pig's ear of a rejoin after my umpteenth off. Decided to call it a day before things got even worse  (if that was possible) Embarrassed

Very happy with my win, Think it was clean despite what looks like either lag contact (very light if so) or simply a wobble caused by my blasting close past Phil off the start line - Sorry either way if it was me Phil  Embarrassed

After that I managed to get inside of Al exiting T1 which gave me 2nd, I caught and stayed with James for quite a few laps until I made some silly mistakes a Moss. This dropped me back about 3-4 seconds letting him get clear. Next thing I knew there were yellows everywhere on the approach to the start straight and I passed a couple of cars that were up on the grass, looked at Prib a found myself in 1st.
I steadily pulled away from Al despite another daft mistake or two at Moss, only to let him nearly catch and pass me for first when I locked up big style over the jump and went off into the hedge.
Rejoined about 2 seconds ahead which resulted in Al being right up my G/Box by the S/F line  Shocked
Had to pull myself together and concentrate hard to hold him off until finally I broke away. Still not sure if that was me simply improving my laps by a few tenths or just Al backing off and letting me go?

Anyway, despite the win and my normal enjoyment at Mosport that was a damn hard race, and I can't say I had the normal huge amount of fun there, very odd  Huh

Well done Al on a very good first race, and a very big slap on the back to Tim on a podium spot  Grin
Bad luck James, You were quicker in the first half of the lap while I seemed to have the 2nd half. Would have been interesting to see who came put on top - bad luck on the accident  Smiley
And of course congrats to all the other finishers!

Thoroughly enjoyed my first outing in the 67s - Clubmans is a great way to get started Smiley James R immediately set a scorching time in qually - I wasn't anywhere near it for most of the session but gradually improved, was lucky with traffic & somehow beat my PB by a mile to get my first pole Grin. Can't believe you did that lap in the BRM though James - if I was in it I'd still be lapping now..

Still getting the hang of starts so dropped a couple of places but pleased just to get away in one piece. Bernie (I think) was all over me for the first few laps but after that I had a bit of breathing space. Inherited 2nd after James suffered his mishap, then saw Tim M off at Moss & thought Christmas had come early but sadly Tim got going again just as I arrived. Hard to get a clean overtaking spot at Mosport so tried to sit on Tim's tail for a while - was driving hard to keep up but having never completed more than 10 laps in practice without blowing an engine thought I'd better ease off a little & started changing up earlier which dropped me back a bit.

Clark-Hill team-mate Vos was running strongly in 3rd so I was the meat in a Tim-sandwich for the rest of the race. Having thrown away a podium place with silly mistakes late on in both my Novice races, I was desperate not to chuck this one so was delighted to finally stay on track until the chequered flag & my first podium w00t Congratulations to Tim M for the win & the championship. Congrats also to Tim (Vos) on his second podium of the week - so Tim that's a 2nd & a 3rd so next race should be the win, right?
