Still not working. It seems like I'm out this one then. :'(
Have you removed the www.gtl-server.net line from your hosts file? I also had to use games.simracing.org.uk to connect to rather than the server IP address. Nothing have worked for me. BTW inside my 'etc' file (where the HOSTS file is, I have 3 HOST "books". One called HOSTS, one called HOSTSBACKUP2377653..... and one called HOST. I've been changing the HOSTS one, is that correct? Can someone remotly work in my PC? I would love to race tonight. BTW, I will be at home today between 14.30 and 15.30. Any advice for what I have in bolt please?

It's midday & we have 13 "yes" votes. If we get just two more votes, committed & able to join tonight, this race will go ahead. If not, we will proceed with the PnG fun event @Goodwood.
Tony & Chris
I have not had a chance to try to connect to the server, will try tonight at about 7pm. I've been snowed under at work this week, so I've not had a chance to practice. I might join, depending on how tired I feel...

The "hosts" one is the only one Windows looks at. It should now only contain the "127.0.0.1 localhost" entry - nothing about GTL servers. Then put the LOBBY_IP_LOBBY.TXT file into your GTL directory. It should contain only "85.214.139.23", i.e. the Gamers' Crib server address. Then launch GTL, go to Multiplayer, Direct IP, click "Add IP Address", enter bogus username and password, wait a few seconds. Server should appear. If you don't have Bathurst installed weird things may happen. I've just tried it and it's fine. I did notice that the server was reporting "-1/27" for the number of drivers which seems a bit odd. I did warn them it wouldn't be as simple as they thought.

ps. If you've got the LOCAL_IP_LOBBY.TXT hack installed, it doesn't matter if there's an entry in your hosts file or not, it never gets that far.
Note that you must still join via direct IP - the lobby is not there and no amount of hackery will allow you to connect to or via it.

Cheers for clearing that up Dave, that's actually a help knowing the txt file negates the need for the host file entry . I also got strange attendance figures, but that was when I didn't have the right track installed.
Have you got any idea what might be causing these issues - seems like there's hardly any scope for things to go wrong in terms of the hack itself. Ade's takes 10 mins to log in, API's seems to be intermittent, almost like network issues!?

In case some are wondering what should be in their hosts file, this is how the relevant part of mine looks.... 127.0.0.1 localhost ::1 localhost 85.214.139.23 www.gtl-server.net Not sure what the "::1" is all about and whether it should be there or not, but it works.

It's for IPv6 (which nobody uses ).

Ade's takes 10 mins to log in, API's seems to be intermittent, almost like network issues!? Could be. IMUIC, the game does lobby checks again when connected at intervals, so if the GC server isn't 100% perfect you might get dumped out as a result; if it doesn't happen with the 'pukka' anti-deco patch that would support that theory. The long login I can't even begin to speculate on.

We're still stuck on thirteen. That's right where we don't want it... a close call. We'll give the people with problems & people who don't know yet, till 6pm to get it working... or we're off to Goodwood (PnG). You chaps struggling might want to try this out from Dave. I've put together a teeny weeny little installer for the new text file "fix" which uses the GC fake lobby authentication, to help our less technically savvy members out. Grab it here. It literally just puts the file into your GTL directory. If you've already got Direct IP working you don't need it. Please let us know how you get on with the voting & remember to change your vote if you suddenly get it to work.

Think it was Legzy who mentioned the P914 was the only car he could get around the track. Thought I'd give it a go and must say I found it more fun to drive than the CLS so have decided to use the P914. Pleased to say I have ended up with a new best lap time as well.

Bugger that's spoilt my strategy for tonight - My reasoning "as it makes no difference to my lap time if the lights are on or off, I figured if a few of you had a 'coming together' and lost your lights it would slow you to my pace and I would have some company" Ah well the best laid plans of 'men and mice' See you later Laurie

I just lost connection with the host, so probably better to stay off if the connection is as unstable as it seems.
