UKPnG Season 1 Clubmans - Interlagos - Jul 28

If I put the Cobra 427 into Group-D:

1) Will it tempt some of the "aliens" away from making this race an Elan fest?
2) Will the Cobra 427 be too fast with that drivers group & everyone else will have no chance?

Hopefully we can get the line up completed today guys (all other cars seem fine now).

I can retry with the 427, and let you know if I'm slightly slower with that car, but i think that to return at the previous rules, the target time for the group D drivers should be near a 52.0- 52.5. I'm a little bit faster than this, like 4 tenth of second in race pace, but if you don't want all the group D drivers takes the Elan, an enlargement of choices is needed, and maybe the 427 shoud be the right one to have a pace near the Elan.
But if the 427 doesn't fit a pace near to 52.0 52.5, i really don't see any other solutions to let all group D drivers have a nearest pace of the C drivers without taking the Elan, maybe apart from Paul & Ayrton... I don't know how to help you guys... this time it's really an hard work . i will post my pace with a full tank after dinner... now i've 40° in my house in Rome and isn't really good to drive without the Air Conditioned . I forgot to tell something important even if i know that you have a race on Sunday. We are gonna make another training race in our VDA server of P&G. If someone of non GTR2 racers would have this training with us i think that should be useful for everybody regarding this race in Interlagos.
Qualifying will start at 8.30 pm (Greenwich time ) 20 mins
Race will start at 8.50 pm    1 hour
I hope that someone of you would like to join with us. If you are intersted send me a PM, and i will give you the server Password.

As i promised i run a few laps with the 427... and the response is totally negative... With a full tank, i menaged a best of 1.55.4 after 9 laps... I was pretty regular on my pace... but I've to drive like a Grandpa ...The worst thing is that the 427 got only a compound tyres. I think it's slower than the Corvette L88. Seems totally out of pace

Any other ideas?!? You're all wellcome in our server

Guys, I made another attempt with the Chevy L88 and a full tank, but the best i could do after more than 30 laps in race setup was a 1.52.1... but only for one laps, than my pace was near a 1.53 low in the first laps with new tyres, but after 8-9 laps, tyres have a consumption of 17 on my xd, the car becomes very hard to drive, and it's difficult to keep a pace near a 1.53 high- 1.54.low after 10 laps...
If you add that with a x2 consumption of tyres and fuel is surely need a tyre change and a a refuel of not less than 80 litres, and that for all the race the car need more than 210 litres...  That car surely starts with a great handicap... that's my thinking, and my other team mates already have a worst feeling with that car...
I don't see any alternative in terms of race pace apart of the Lotus Elan, in group D... if all the drivers of that group will take that car should be interesting, but with the L88 no chances for me to have a good pace! And the same is for all mine other team mates. I will ask to Ayrton to give a try with the L88, and see if he's able to do something better to avoid a single make of Elan...
As ever... any other ideas?

I will leave the Elan available to Group-D also & hopefully we will not just see the 'super fast red Elan' on the track from them (hint hint guys )

After some more practice tonight in the L88 I would like to offer my self up for promotion to Group 'D' ( was going to take group 'D' anyways) Managed times in the 1:51s with a PB of 1:51.242

Cheers Ade, you were only one decent race away from it but that's cool (you'll officially be promoted for the next race). That sure was fun last night/this morning (cheers Manteos, Matt & Lazlow too) & you were certainly flying! I was chuffed I managed to finally hustle the 914 round in a 1:52.8
Was a bit worrying how easily the three Group-D muscle cars sailed past me on the straights, but with my cornering it seemed very comparative

But I just want to know which plonker picked 2x tyre wear? Whoops!

That was on our server, which I kept getting cheat detected, so reinstalled PNG and working great

You need to check out the 1st two posts from this thread, particularly the 2nd one which ranks the car that are available (The Alpine is not this week).
If you like the Alpine, I'd suggest you have a try in the Porka '911 IROC' or the '914' & post your times here, I'll then suggest a group for you to pick a car from for the race 

If your lap-times are in the area of 1:52 to 1:54 then you'll be about right . Good luck
