Frustrating night, planned a 2 stop race because of X2 tyre wear.  Pit stop went OK and on the out lap on the last corner pulled right to be overtaken and got my first cut track warning and stop 'n go.  Still upset by that pulled over to right approaching the first chicane to let some cars by went up to kerbs, touched the grass and to my surprise got a second warning - so distracted I lost it Sorry Chaps.

Came in for my stop 'n go and saw the number 2 next to stop 'n go option - yes I know I had 2 warning - joined and continued racing only be DQed for ignoring the 2nd stop 'n go.  What a ***********.

I've always liked this track, ever since I used to race Geoff Crammond's Grand Prix in the early 1980's (well where did you think the 'Oldie' came from in 'Team Oldie Racing'?)

I fuelled for 25 laps to give myself some leeway with the pit stop, depending on tyre wear. I was passed at the start by Blunder and Spanner, but settled into a steady rythmn. The fuel only lasted for 24 laps so I pitted and took fresh tyres and enough fuel to reach the end.
I came out of the pits in 7th behind Legzy, who drove away from me for 2 laps and then slowed down alarmingly. As I was up behind him into the stadium section he had an off and that was the last I saw of him.

The Capri must have sprung a fuel leak because I seemed to be using a lot more than I should have been. A quick mental calculation had me coming up a gallon short (4.54L). I considered a pit stop for a splash and dash, but I would have lost a load of places. Spanner was almost 19 seconds behind me so I short-shifted for about 4 laps, dropping my pace from 2.29's to 2.33's. As Spanner came into view in my mirrors I put the hammer down again and did a series of quick (for me) laps including a PB. The fuel just held out for me to take a satisfying 4th place.

Congrats to Madd (blistering pace) , my team mate Lazlow and Phil Gilliland. Commiserations to PRibeiro, who would surely have battled for the lead had it not been for the disco.

Ok race for me!
Not a fan of this track!
Luckily my trusty Pantera did not let me down!
Oh apart from the last 5 laps on each set of tyres which had me going backwards!!
Minor apology to Spanner, he overtook me! ( How dare he! ) and I was in the process of re taking him down the straight when my rear tyre touched the grass and we both had a slip sliding slideways scramble to keep it on the island!
Luckily no collision etc. so backed right off and let the man go!
My tyres were toast anyway!

Grats to all, good finish for Team Oldie!
( Once my 6th palce is re-instated! )

Had an ok quali session, but didn't really get a clear run and then managed to bin it pushing on my last lap.

Took it easy at the start following in line around t1 but got punted into the wall Sad  Saw the replay Samb and it just looked like one of those unfortunate things. Thanks for waiting for me.

The rest of the race was great. The RSR felt fantastic and I was able to lap consistently and without any incidents apart from a comedy spin late on at one of the chicanes through lack of concentration. Pitstop was a disaster; forgot to disable the repair option for the damage from the first lap and ended up sitting around for 2 mins+ while work was carried out. Lesson learned Roll Eyes

Felt sure this would have been an instant hit so slightly taken aback by the noticeable lack of joy for this circuit.

Never mind, live and learn. For me it was a very dull experience with only the happy banter and Spanners screams on TS keeping up the interest. All my usual playmates bailed out early so I was left racing my shadow (I came 2nd). The 906 didn't live up to my expectations and I'm thinking now why I didn't take the Capri.

Well done Pods

I love this track in its old configuration and its a shame we use the modern one too much even if the new version is surprising good. Never considered anything other than the porka for this one and i handt realised how good it was going to be against the panties. Surprised there werent more capri's out there, and the lack of people which was a shame.

Decent qually left me 7th on the grid but it seemed Martin was slow away but couldnt get past, there were pantys everywhere! Was keeping with Blunder and Phil pretty much early on but it seemed Phil was being pretty cautious into the last chicane which meant i had to take some avoiding action, going off a losing a few spaces which threw me off my rythym, loosing a couple more places when i went off in the first chicane. Surprised to get back up the field when the guys infront seemed to pit early and ended up gaining on Blunder who was suffering a bit.

The tyres seemed to be holding up so having started on full tanks pitted just after half way and knew i had to add 30L and i came in with 16L left but under pressure set it to 36L having been concentrating on '30' too much. Coming out in 3rd with Lazlow passing me didnt seem right and after going over it a hundred times realised i needed to stop again for 10L. Knowing there was a bit of a scrap behind I deced to try and carry on a put some consistent laps in and hopefully manage avoid them when i rejoin. It seemed to work as as i left the pits again i had Martin around again and after our little dance into the first chicane managed to gain on Phil ahead but after getting a couple of secs behind, he put the hammer down again.

That was really hard work to keep the concetration up for nearly 100mins. And was knackered at the end and covered in sweat. A brilliant race with good scraps everywhere. Hats off to API who was peddalling that 906 surprisingly fast.

Bad luck Prib sounded like it was going to be a close run thing and to Stve who was looking forward to the race after so long only for it to end rather quickly! Shame you performance in the porka didnt quite come out Tibs.

I like this circuit. Better than the sterile, technical, safety concious new circuits that seem to be the norm these days.

Keep up the great work Tony Smiley

Noticed that the lap records are mixed up with the modern (Tilke) Hockenheim GP track.
It looks a bit strange that the GT40 are half a minute faster than the GTC-76 Scary Machines from Italy  Grin
.. and it denies Mister McLaren SamBlood an honorary record in the GTC-65 class....

My race was surprisingly good. Could maintain a good pace in the Pantera with little mistakes. For a gentleman driver this is quite an achievement.  Wink
Had some good fights with Geoffers and API who I barely beat to the line after 1 hour and 40 minutes.
Chicked out on tyre choice and decided to change all 4 during the pitstop...

Must say really good driving all around fur such a high speed and narrow track... I must admit that I probably have become used to the wide Tilke-runways on modern tracks Embarrassed

Pantera and 906 banned for next endurance race... Le Mans will become quite interesting this way... 914 vs Escort  Cheesy

Yeah, shame about the 906 being out of the running for LM, but it does mean that the RSR is available for Nords. Just had a blast round and I'll definitely be packing my brown trousers for that one Smiley

Will look into if we can do anything about that.

Le Mans is exempt from car removals of earlier races (i.e. It's the classic end of season race & not to be messed with... so all car choices will be back).

I had quite a fun race, seeming to have someone to battle with for at least half the race. Most notably Alex, who I spent many laps chasing in the early part of the race, & Legzy, who I had a couple of paint swapping moments with in the second half. I was rather dissappointed with my pace, having managed to lap comfortably in the 2.28s in testing I never did one lap in the 2.28s in qually or race  Huh.

Congrats to Madd, Lazlow & Phil. I must learn how to drive the Pantera  Shocked
