Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 289s

[VDA]icarus17 (icarus17) Goes wide on a long corner and ends up off track to a small degree. He rejoins immediately, but unfortunately Legzy, who is following, makes contact with icarus17. Legzy was committed to the corner and could not have avoided the contact. [VDA]icarus17 does not rejoin dangerously and could not have know that Legzy was closing so quickly. The contact is only slight but icarus is very unfortunate and comes off quite badly. Legzy shows a high level of sportsmanship and waits for icarus.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 505s

Matt_Rowe (phspok) is stopped on the track and facing the wrong way after loosing control. Several cars have to take avoiding action as they approach Matt_Rowe. The approaching drivers have little room to make the avoidance and little time to react due to the track layout at the scene. Paul968 can not see the car of Matt as he is very close behind another driver. As the car in front of Paul968 avoids Matt, Paul968 can suddenly see Matt and tries to slow but does not have enough time to avoid hitting Matt. As Paul968 flys across the path of the next two cars of Legzy and Lazlow, they both take avoiding action and get out of shape at the same time. (VDA) lele (lelero) fast approaches Legzy and Lazlow as they are out of shape and has to avoid them. Most unfortunately he hits both of them causing both Legzy and Lazlow to spin off the track. (VDA) lele could have used more caution in approaching the scene as he would have been able to see several cars in the middle of an incident. However, it did appear that he had space as he approached and that space disappeared at the last moment. This incident was a big one that involved many cars in a short space of time and it would have been difficult for any of the drivers involved to avoid contact. Therefore only advice for (VDA) lele will be issued for lack of caution when approaching the scene of an accident.

Server replay time: 1937s

Legzy and (VDA) lele approach the turn in for a corner just about side by side. Legzy has the inside line and gets his car just ahead of the car of lele before braking. Legzy goes wide and makes slight contact with lele. Legzys rear just clips leles front end. This does not cause lele much trouble but, lele losses control accelerating from the scene. Legzy was in front on turn in and would have made the corner without the contact and lele had given Legzy racing room. Therefore this is a racing incident. I would like to point out that Legzy once again showed a high level of sportsmanship by waiting for lele and loosing many places while doing so. This is despite the fact that lele did not wait for Legzy after a racing incident early in the same race. Although that is not an offence, please remember that the use of high level sportsmanship adds to the fun of the races.

Here is what i got in my very first approach to Road Atlanta ....

IROC  1.29.424
914    1.29.409

It seems to me that Legzy did a very good job in grouping those 2 cars. Quit different behaviors lead exactly to the same lap time !!!!

Hi guys Smiley
I've done some laps with some cars. That's the result:
Porsche 911 IROC after 100 laps in qualy setting. 1.26.7xx I think that's the best I can do... maybe I have other 2 tenths, no more...
Porsche 906-6 after 15 laps 1.26.010, surely 25 low it's possible, and maybe a 24 high...
Porsche 906-8 after 15 laps  1.25.9, but 24 low it's possible
Porsche  911 3.0 RSR after 50 laps 1.24.5 in VDA server, 1.24.9 in ukpng, I'm near my limit with this one...

I can only say that the 911 RSR seems stronger than his group, and especially in the first bumpy part of the track, it's harder to make some mistake with that car compared to the 906 that got so much troubles when the bottom touches the ground. I had so much troubles to be constant with the 906 due to that troubles... Anybody else tried the 906 yet? I want to know if it's only a setup matter, but i didn't reach to erase that bump troubles. No Mark, I consider me a human, not an alien, but the fact is that in this period we have no other championship, and i use to play only with P&G at the moment... It's my favourite mod, i like it so much. In a track like RoadAtlanta, the knowledge of circuit is the primary thing. After more than 200 laps I started to understand the right gear for the corners, and especially the right lines to be fast. After 15-20 laps i was in your same conditions with the 911 RSR, then I improved so much my times, but it's all a matter of training.

Any chance of a TT Manteos? Got my hands full with tokens and the iRacing Lotus, so I'd love to know where you find so many extra seconds in the IROC!

The answer is in the hour of this post Smiley Smiley Paul if you make 100 laps with Porker IROC you will destroy my lap time... Anyway, remember to turn in qualif session. All my laptimes are done in that session... really more grippy than Practice 1, that i totally dislike...
With the IROC it's really important the right gear in every corner... change gear make you waste precious time Smiley. It's only a little suggestion, you will see that will work. And in the first sector, to make a good time you have to do the right lines. Concentrate on this Smiley GN guys Smiley
P.S Sorry for my ignorance in abbreviations... but what's the meaning of TT?

i cant believe Manteos is an incredible 4 seconds a lap faster in the IROC !!?  Shocked That is quite an amazing time of 1:26 even if it was in the qually session. I know/think i can get in the 29's with a very good lap but doubt i would find an extra 4 seconds  Embarrassed

Could be up for some lappage later on if anyones about?

What you might also not want to believe, is that Manteos seems to be suggesting that the '911 RSR 3L' is too fast for your group to drive it MJ  Shocked. Does he not know it's your Birthday?  Wink

Surely it shouldn't be about peoples ultimate pace but the relative perfomance between the groups and the fact the RSR is 1.8 secs faster proves it. Undecided

i was taking the IROC anyway, so wouldnt really matter if you took the RSR away. I had assumed quite early that it was took quick for the other cars in the group when i had the fastest time on that evening!  laugh  yes  However, now seeing that our Italian friends are setting such blistering pace in the IROC etc then i may well revert back to the RSR to give myself half a blinking chance  Embarrassed ..a bit demoralising seeing those times sometimes. Did another 20 laps tonight but couldnt better my 1:30.151 in the IROC. At least i can set fairly regular 1:30's now after a few laps.
I really am at a loss to see how i could possibly find that much more time around this track  Huh Good fun all the same  Smiley

Now if only Manteos would come up with a timetrial, we could all have a look  Smiley Like you Mark, I am surprised at the margin, as I wouldn't ever expect to be anywhere near that much quicker than you once you know a circuit well. I only did a handful of laps the other night, and best was a low 30.  Hard to see where I could find 2 secs, let alone 4y, but then again it is a very challenging track. Trouble is I don't want to chop and change from PnG to iRacing, so I want to get sebring out of the way before trying the IROC again. My money would be on the 906 at a track like this, so not sure the RSR is out of place.

I'm really struggling to get any sort of consistency and speed with these cars and track combo; 1.33 was my best in the RSR after many, many offs. It's like driving a motorised pendulum and when you throw in the high speed crests, it's a lottery on whether you're facing the right way on the other side Sad

Don't get me wrong, they are fun to drive but I can't see myself lasting 5 mins let alone the whole race, and I don't want to take anyone else out. The cobra at interlagos for the last race was a walk in the park compared to this Grin. Manteos's 1.24 lap hasn't done an awful lot for the ego either  alien ....  Wink

Is it just my incompetence or are any other non-aliens struggling as well?

Me too Mcfids. I can't get anywhere near MJ's time let alone the Aliens. Hopefully there will be a few of us in the same boat mate. Smiley
