Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 289s

[VDA]icarus17 (icarus17) Goes wide on a long corner and ends up off track to a small degree. He rejoins immediately, but unfortunately Legzy, who is following, makes contact with icarus17. Legzy was committed to the corner and could not have avoided the contact. [VDA]icarus17 does not rejoin dangerously and could not have know that Legzy was closing so quickly. The contact is only slight but icarus is very unfortunate and comes off quite badly. Legzy shows a high level of sportsmanship and waits for icarus.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 505s

Matt_Rowe (phspok) is stopped on the track and facing the wrong way after loosing control. Several cars have to take avoiding action as they approach Matt_Rowe. The approaching drivers have little room to make the avoidance and little time to react due to the track layout at the scene. Paul968 can not see the car of Matt as he is very close behind another driver. As the car in front of Paul968 avoids Matt, Paul968 can suddenly see Matt and tries to slow but does not have enough time to avoid hitting Matt. As Paul968 flys across the path of the next two cars of Legzy and Lazlow, they both take avoiding action and get out of shape at the same time. (VDA) lele (lelero) fast approaches Legzy and Lazlow as they are out of shape and has to avoid them. Most unfortunately he hits both of them causing both Legzy and Lazlow to spin off the track. (VDA) lele could have used more caution in approaching the scene as he would have been able to see several cars in the middle of an incident. However, it did appear that he had space as he approached and that space disappeared at the last moment. This incident was a big one that involved many cars in a short space of time and it would have been difficult for any of the drivers involved to avoid contact. Therefore only advice for (VDA) lele will be issued for lack of caution when approaching the scene of an accident.

Server replay time: 1937s

Legzy and (VDA) lele approach the turn in for a corner just about side by side. Legzy has the inside line and gets his car just ahead of the car of lele before braking. Legzy goes wide and makes slight contact with lele. Legzys rear just clips leles front end. This does not cause lele much trouble but, lele losses control accelerating from the scene. Legzy was in front on turn in and would have made the corner without the contact and lele had given Legzy racing room. Therefore this is a racing incident. I would like to point out that Legzy once again showed a high level of sportsmanship by waiting for lele and loosing many places while doing so. This is despite the fact that lele did not wait for Legzy after a racing incident early in the same race. Although that is not an offence, please remember that the use of high level sportsmanship adds to the fun of the races.

Hmmm, a disappointing race but I knew it was going to be a struggle around here.

Somehow I managed to break into the 1:29's on my qually lap at the end when I fueled up for the race. Wasn't expecting that  Shocked

I made a pig's ear of the start, I was distracted by Matt's 911 reverse grid driving and missed the green light, and everyone behind me stormed past  Roll Eyes

I spend most of the race racing TT & API's 914s but every so often I would get out of shape on the last hump allowing a few guys to pass by.

At least I don't have to race here again in a while  Wink

Congrats on your birthday win MJ  Grin

Grats MJ and pody. Cool

Since I'm rubbish in these cars I'll race the next race in the car of my own choice (within set cars), when I see the target laptimes.  Smiley

0 practice laps before the event.
6 and a half laps practice during practice session
4 practice laps during qualifying session.

Qualified at 25th.
Took advantage on the weird start and by lap 3 or 4 was in 16th. On the uphill fast chicanes
I was hit hard and spun losing 5 places. Lost all the possibility to aim to a top 10 finish.
undoubtedly, the 914 is easy to drive but lack of power under acceleration and top speed.
I believe that in a track without so many sections which power was needed, the 914
could fight for a top 3 place. Or in the hundred laps practice boys hands.
Nice (unfortunately short) battle with Madd. And a huge fight between me and Blunder
at the begining of the race for a few laps and after a short break (after my incident),
a nice and totally fair fight for some laps near the end of the race.

Congrats on your win Mark, well done!
Congrats to podium and to all finishers.
Well done to Tibernius for being the first 906 and to API for being the first 914.

Cheers

Great fun race..
I had a good start that fired my car in 3rd position, but after first laps I've made some big mistakes and my position fall to 21st and I begun the climb to 9th end position
probably without these errors my end position was better than 9th, but I'm pleased at all.
I'm sorry and apologise for a collision from rear I've made to a 914 owner (at this moment I forget his name and I've no time to see replay  Grin) and the least I could do was to slow and return him the position..
I'm sorry specially for Mark Jonzo, winner of the race, because in the last laps I'm not warned by a blue flag and I not let him to pass me easy.. sorry again
Thanks and see you in the next race..
Bye

Well done and happy birthday Jonzo - yes you just need a drink habit clearly and you'll be dangerous on track LOL.

Just a quick one Legz/ WT - had commitments last night or would have been there with bells on. No reflection on your car/ track choice - I know how you're sensitive about these things Wink

Looking forward to the token system.
Driving in the slowest car, doing PB's and still only qualifying 20th was no fun!
Lack luster dull race!

No much thing to say about that race...
Started from 11th position I took advantage at the start with my holy manual clutch, and gained 5 position til the first corner. Then I started a good fight against Tibs & Simon Gymer, I managed to pass Tibs and then i tried to overtake Simon, but after some 6-7 laps his pace becomes better than mine, and i lost 3-4 tenth every lap. The gap was never over the 4 seconds and when he did a little mistake I tried the last assault, with poor result. In last 6-7 laps i had to give up cause my tyres said STOP pushing Sad... riding on canvas it's not my speciality... I was happy to obtain a great 4th place against the monstrous RSR 3.0, and collect another great result for VDA team!!!

Grats to MJ for his birthday victory Smiley

Grats to Ayrton for his 3rd podium in 3 races, that allow him to be on top of the Leaderboard Smiley

Grats to Simon for your constant pace!

Grats to all finishers in this difficult race Smiley

See you in Daytona Smiley

I decided to race in the end - thanks to Ade for the 914 setup - and while I was dog slow I could at least keep it on the track Smiley

Started at the back but after the obligatory PnG chaotic start, I made up a few places. Pretty unspectacular from then on and after about 10mins it became clear I wasn't going to trouble the scorers in any shape or form and gave up. I'm just not compatible with these Porsches Sad

After that I enjoyed watching the battle up front with MJ - a good win and well done to the podium and finishers.

lol Oily, what do you mean 'need' a drinking habit ?!....had one for years mate  Grin But i can honestly only assume it calmed me a bit for last nights race as i didnt seem to suffer the usual pre race tension and feel too tightly wound up. It certainly helped my laptimes  Smiley

Must admit i was expecting an onslaught by our Italian contingent as every session i had seen them running in, indicated they would lock out the top 6, what happened guys? Your race night pace didnt match up to all your previous lap times  Huh..apart from Ayrtons  Wink

ps...can we have a linky to Daytona road course please? and an early hint at what cars we can use? Not got much interest in driving anything other than the P&G mod lately.

Today, yes. Last night I bought home my work in my head and I should have been shooting vampires rather than Motor Racing.
Thanks for asking Mate

Woo! 5th! Totally unexpected!

(although I touched a 911 on my inside that I didn't know was there - sorry)

That was me I think - was trying to leave room after that crazy start as I couldn't be sure you knew I was there. It was only a light touch I think, my car felt good all race, in fact my tyres seemed to hold up very well compared to most, helped I'm sure by me trying very hard not to lock the wheels up under braking too often.

I've never ever been able to drive any 911 in any sim before - not in GTR 1 or 2, nor GTL, nor the PCCs in rFactor - so I was really surprised by how well the car suits my driving style. I think it may be the cross-ply tyres - very much more forgiving than modern radials. At least, I assume the old 911s are on cross-plies. Anyhoo, after a few laps I was able to pull away from the pack behind, and whilst I couldn't make any impression on the cars ahead, I was never under any pressure, and had only one minor spinless off, not a bad performance given that I'd never driven the car before yesterday. yes

The game starts plonking people badly on the grid when it reaches the game slot limit. Reducing slots by 1-4 can help alleviate this problem.

It's usually a symptom of the network struggling - if somebody has a bad connection they can experience it even with a smaller grid. A bigger grid just puts more stress on everyone's connections.

That's assuming the slots are correctly assigned in the .TRK file - an off-line test with 28 cars will show up any problems.
Just did an offline 28 car test and everything was fine
