Decided to take advantage of my seasonal one car swap allowance at this race. GTC F430 just seems to suffer overheating tyres more then other cars (in testing) & lacks 'oomph' on the straights, so had a go with the Porka (to show AWOL MJ how it's done Wink).
You do realize that this means you have to stick with the Porker or suffer a points penalty?
Shocked Shocked Shocked Wink Yeah, I do mate cheers.
It was a close call at the start of the season (between either Porka, either Fezza or the Morgan) & I went with the F430 because I'd skinned it (for the GT2 car really)

Oh, that's OK then - the way you wrote it gave me the impression you thought the 911 was good for that track only  Smiley

In the first stint I had 2 contacts, 1 with Busi. Dunno if I was at fault TBH very hard to call.

No no problem, I was just not paying attention behind, cause I already had two cars to look out laugh contact was inevitable

Had our usual fight with H@l at the start and his Viper was more nimble this time. Smiley Well, at least after he passed. Tongue  We came to a stationary car just before the hairpin and I wisely chose to go on the outside... Roll Eyes
We had a fight with Jorgen after pitting and after his mistake I managed to stay in front - man that Lister goes through the corners like on tracks! Shocked
6th for the Marcos/me combo isn't that bad. Cheesy

GTCs were great. Smiley

Just a quick one!
I spun at the slow lefthander a few laps into the race and caused a few 'issues' !  Sad
Sorry guys!
Was lovin driving that F360 but for some reason when I really started pushing it seemed to come round on me under heavy braking  3 or 4 times after that!
Legzy tells me it is a design 'feature' !  Grin
Will be trading it in for something else next time!

Simon missing tonight

Yeah, unfortunately I didn't make it back from Sunday activities anywhere near race start time let alone qualifying start time. Annoying that I couldn't defend my championship lead really as I enjoy Hockenheim and the Morgan goes well there too. Well done to Purdie on the win in GTC and FreQ for the GT1 win!

p.s. had a small coming together with someone at the hairpin, not quite sure if it was Goldtop who I'd flashed through & he'd had a problem pulling away, or if it was a car I guess trying to follow him through?  Undecided  Not sure who that was, but if it was my fault (please let me know) on either of you, sorry. If it was your fault... I look forward to an apology  Wink  Wink

It wasn't me Legzy. You flashed me through at T2 going into Para without incident - thanks for that Smiley

Hope my disco didn't cause any problems by the way. I didn't have any indication that I was discoing (usually my gap time readings start going haywire) otherwise I'd have hit esc.

Good race to get my eye back in  Smiley

Good quali with pole and had a solid start, managed to take advantage of GT1s spinning off in the opening laps to get a decent gap to Lazlow. He kept on the pressure through-out before he pitted.

Thought I had it in the bag Roll Eyes but doubt started creeping into my mind after my stop when Legzy was still leading the class and I was 20 secs behind  Shocked

With 14 laps to go I couldn't relax and tried to catch him just in case  Cheesy. Luckily managed it and he flashed me past and then pitted! Good strategy tho mate, 7th to 3rd in class  Wink ... and if your sticking with the 911 I can send over my setup if you want to try it.

Hope the wireless didn't cause too much lagging, Lazlow said it did a bit on the warm-up lap but hope it was fine after. Just bought a 30m LAN cable as a temporary measure anyway!  Smiley

Good to have you back racing Andy - it will be better still with a cable. From a distance your car seemed fine but when I let you passed to lap me I thought "is he ever coming through?". Then you jumped from no where to about 4 car lengths in front!

lol Grin

I practised for this race (finally got my gear back up and runnin', though the BRD mk1 pedal board is kinda inaccurate, still awaiting replacement), but frankly I was too late back home because I visited Bavaria City racing.

Looking at the qualy times I could've raced chasing purdie and lazlow the whole race :'(

Rather a quite race for me....I didn't have enough pace to keep up with Purdie (Good solid win mate!!)....but found it quite comfortable driving around in 2nd place....apart from the occasional trips off the track Embarrassed

I hope my racing lines didn't disrupt the GT1 guys to much, but I prefer to let you all through by moving off the racing line, if this causes any problems please let me know?

Disappointing fuel economy from the BMW which needed the best part of 140l of fuel....
I managed to only have to use 120ltrs...must of been something to do with my low Rev Limit.

Finally well done to Legzy on his podium (where did that one come from Grin) and then rest of the Team Oldie squad...top of the table...Go Team Oldie!!!!

See you next time

That race was really difficult, close, and fun! Qually wasn't too bad but wasn't surprised to see Busi jump in front once he stuck his qually setup on. I was surprised to have second by a relatively large margin, the Viper is tough round this place. I just this second noticed that Busi set an identical pole time to my last remaining Lambo record, 1:33.150. Very pleased with that, as it's 2 years old!  Cool

First couple of laps were great, really close until the fun at the hairpin. I saw Jose coming in hot so stayed out wide and Busi got unlucky on the exit. Jon was going nicely in the new for him Saleen until a mistake at the hairpin (Goldtops car was in an interesting spot). Great comeback though, I had decided on meds all round even though my rears were easily hitting 110 constantly and had considered hards, but decided against it.

Later in the stint it became really hard to handle out of the slow corners and I think I had the slowest spin I've ever had, at 2400 in the replay. Really clumsy...I tried to not move at all when I stopped to make it easier for Busi to avoid me, it's always tough avoiding a spinning car because you don't know where it's going.

The stop went OK and exiting the pits was fairly close, although I'm really surprised that I could then close back up; I thought that was it when I came out behind.

It's odd being in the Viper against a Lambo. It's brilliant just pulling out and passing on the straights, but I felt so slow on braking and round corners. I've seen it from both perspectives now, in seasons 4-6 I was in the Lambo and found it hard to overtake because you can't stay close down the straights to take advantage of the great braking, yet you get soo frustrated as soon as you get to a corner and you know you can go much faster than the bloke in front of you. The Lambo is quick over a lap, but quick in all the wrong places during a race for position. You feel like you were going like the wind in that car every lap, but the straightline speed is so bad that the laptimes feel better than they often are. It's still the most charismatic car though, and one of my favourite (in green Simon!)  angel

The last stint I was convinced that I was being messed with. I thought "He's doing a Rossi", just waiting and seeing where he can go past in the last 10 minutes, but the only time we swapped, I got straight past again on the straight. The way those 2 cars generate laptime is so different. I almost felt bad through the stadium section as Busi was constantly moving around trying not to brake all the time to avoid running into me.

Race ended a little early (48 laps not 50), but congrats all. I'm not a huge fan of this technical track, but it does usually give good racing  Smiley
And...hurrah for Picnic's ADSL  Cool

Not sure how I won that, but I'm not complaining! Thanks for the race all  Grin
