LOL

My  "late and deep"  seems to be about 100yds earlier than H manages  Roll Eyes

If it's about, have a look at the race replay for the S17 Interleague race at Kyalami. My laps in the Eagle were consistent, mostly mistake-free, but not overly quick, 1:20s/1:21s, although I did banzai my qualifying lap to put me 3rd on the grid with a 1:19.5. The key in the race was the car was very easy to drive, I was subconsiously pushing the pedals and turning the steering wheel, I wasn't constantly thinking where to brake. Until I had the race taken away from me, I was loving the Eagle and Kyalami.

Hehe, I always have to consciously think, otherwise I spend all my time driving on the grass Wink

I'm currently running a Brabham and have now got it down to the low 1:21s consistently, with the occasional 1:20 when I get Crowthorne bang on (very rare that). The other place I am losing time is around Sunset. Coincidentally, both places require a lot of trail-braking to be fast. I am using Andreas Wilke's setups for the Brabham, and his replay as a guide. Stability under braking with these setups takes a lot of practice, probably due to my lack of talent! Wink

I shall keep at it. If I can consistently lap in the 1:20s I think I shall be a happy chappy Smiley

Thanks for the help guys,

Andrew

You are doing well Andrew.

Have you considered the Eagle?  The Brabham is a bit of a squirmy beast to learn with and will be dead meat on the Kyalami straight for everything except a Cooper.

My best Brabham time is actually better than my best Lotus but the Lotus is better "tactically" because only the Eagle will be quicker on the straight without a tow.

I have considered the Eagle, but wanted some experience a lower-spec chassis as I'll need to use at least one rubbish car in the Graduate's Cup next season to comply with the token-based handicap system.

That being said, I've just about had enough of the Brabham on this track so might yet switch to an alternate car Smiley

Thanks for your help.

Andrew

LOL

I know what you mean.  I feel much the same about the Lotus.  Just given it a bash at lunch time and had a good lap going until the last corner, where the back end stepped out as it went over the crest.  Bugger it!

As I understand the chassis rules you would need to use something slower that a Brabham to be able to save up your "Air Miles" for a decent set of wheels at a future event.

Doesn't the Brabham just let you break even throughout if you use nothing else?

At ten tokens a pop you could use the Brabham all season and still have some leftover. You only need to worry if you go Ferrari, Eagle or Lotus.

21s and 20s, when you go down to those, are better than 80 % of the people playing GPL. Nice going! Besides, you either love or hate Kyalami, so if it's the latter (like me!) you may do even better at other tracks.

Gentlemen,
Some respect for the Brabham, much loved at Black Night Racing. Her grace is in the curves if she lacks a little in the straight line. Also, at 10 tokens, she won't break the bank unlike some of those speed tarts.
Unfortunately my Brab is carrying a bit to much curve & needs to slim down somewhat if she wants to see 1.21.

Bugger, I didn't realise that. I'll have to miss it now as I've been given tickets for the Newcastle game on Monday evening. I know, I know, the club is in a mess, we are in the Championship and we seem to be in the process of selling the entire squad, but we are devoted to the cause (or mindless sheep whichever way you care to look at it!).

I might show up. will need some more practice before I decide. Tonight's outing doesn't count, since I had one beer and two glasses of wine before I got onto the track.  clown
