Well thanks for organising the race Legz, and the advice on persevering with connections, would have given up and done something else if I'd not known.  In a way I should have....time to change my avatar for something more appropriate like a big picture of Luca Badoer.  Tongue

Quallied on hard tyres and full tanks and then when Dan and DG said they were on medium or soft tyres I went to change but in the setup screen decided not to switch to tyres I'd not driven and stick to hards...'you never know they may come good at the end', I thought and I was a bit tired and didn't fancy driving on over-cooked tyres at the end.

So I was slow.  And could only maintain concentration for about 7 laps when my reactions fell apart and the rest of the race was a mistake-filled-nowhere-near-the-limit Sunday drive.  Shoulda quit but I hardly ever finish races these days so persevered grimly to the end.  Was a good combination, shame I wasn't up to extracting the potential of it.

Glad it wasn't the Long Beach race, would never have kept out of the walls.

Grats to Matt and podium.

What a fool I am.
On a track like Barcelona I was the only one choosing an under 2 liters engine.  Roll Eyes
I had a hope that could be competitive tho, but I joined the server before 20.00,
didn't do a single lap and just returned when the clock was 1 minute before qualy session ends.  Tongue
Therefore, no practice (first time with the 906,don't ask me why, I don't like this car), no qualy
and no setup either.  Grin
The gears were so long that I had to use 1st gear on 3 corners.
I can't say that I enjoyed a lot because I was lonely for almost all race.
But here and there it was cool enough for staying untill the chekered flag.  Cheesy

Congrats to Matt, mr_oily and API.  Smiley
And thanks for putting on an alternative race.  Wink

Cheers

Fair play PR - you're a better man than me, I'd have done the off straight after lap one - sounds like the recipe for a 40 minute nightmare! lol

Good track, good car choices. Never was a fan of the 911 but I found that it handled a lot better than the 906 around here.
Was having a good time but by about lap 18 the car was getting slower and slower. The tyres weren't too bad so I didn't think that was the problem. MJ passed me like I was standing still and then DG caught me by about 2 seconds a lap. As soon as he passed me my engine blew - so that had been the problem.
I much perferred this format to the discount tokens (not criticizing - just not a fan)
Congrats to the podium, well done to all the Oldies and a great job by Legzy and Tony to offer this event at such short notice.

Ah, I wondered what happened!

After Ade blew his motor very early on I checked my health and it was just 44%! Shocked However, as I monitored it over a few laps it had obviously started like that, and I finished still on 44% (and being very careful to avoid premature downshifts!).

Very much enjoyed the 1st half. Made a few places of the grid & started hassling Oily, made a mistake & then it was endless fun fending off teammate API for about 4/5 laps Evil & then Oily too (as he'd been playing in the sand) for sadly to brief a period  Angry
Hung onto the back of them for a while, but they were jut too quick for me.
I pretty much maintained my pace opening the gap to the cars behind... till the last 4 or 5 laps where my tyres on 20+ wear were starting to slow me down. Managed to hold on comfortably to 4th spot though Grin

Did enjoy these cars very much, we don't get nearly enough chances to drive them in PnG Wink

At last a decent race for me. Grin Grin

I took the GT40 cos it looks and sounds dead gorgeous.
Took 9th place in qual but was struggling keeping her on the black stuff.
Before the race I was convinced I should have taken a Porsche to be safe.

Finished the race in 5th position. Shocked
Was following Dave Gymer when unluckily his car froze mid track.
Couldn't catch Legzy in front so settled into a rhythm. Lazlow was catching me at the end but knew if I kept it clean he was just too far back. And so it proved! Wink
All in all great fun, well pleased. laugh

The car was good to drive once I had sussed out to start braking earlier and very lightly so as not to lock the brakes up.
