Moderator's Report

A solid win by Lorenzo at the season opener.
No reported incidents and a nice clean first lap makes for an easy moderating job.

Seems Jethro found a way to stay within the rules and get his tokens whilst on his travels. Thinking outside the box maybe but we don't recommend making a habit of it.

This is the first race of the new fortnightly Graduates trophy. With 31 entrants this promises to be an exciting season. Registration will be open all season for any new joiners. Please bear in mind there are a mixture of driver abilities and no second chances with PRO.

Race List = IGOR
Server = ukgpl.4 (see note below)
IP address = 84.64.42.154
Race date = 06-09-2009
Time = 21:00 UK time (20.00 GMT)
Track = Watkins Glen
Variant = 67F1
Damage Model = PRO
Qualifying time = 35 minutes. Don't start until 30 mins left on clock to allow everyone to join.
Race length = 50 minutes (45 laps)

Password: see above

Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page
Track updates can be found here http://srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=573
Please be in IGOR UKGPL chatroom by 8:50 p.m (UK London Time = BST = GMT + 1h).

Reserve drivers should not join the server until there are only 30 minutes of qualifying left. Please restrict chat to pit messages. Moderating will be by reported incidents only, however the moderators reserve the right to review any incident with a particular emphasis on lap one. The aim is to review the race the following weekend so incident reports should be submitted within five days of the race (ie the following Friday).
We're hopeful most incidents can be resolved amicably and recommend a days deep breath with a replay review before posting. A sorry in the forum won't be taken as an automatic admission of guilt by the moderators.

With the new token system chassis strategy will be a factor. A driver must have sufficient tokens for the chassis he drives in the race.  Any driver who does not have sufficient tokens will be disqualified from the result and his tokens will be set to zero.
Chassis costs;
Lotus 20 / Eagle 17 / Ferrari 15 / Brabham 10 / Cooper 5 / Honda 3 / BRM 0

For this first race ALL drivers will start with 20 plus a further 10 added when crossing the start line.

The Championship will be split into two sub-divisions, namely Works and Privateers. The current driver split is;

WORKS drivers
Evil Clive
Tim FMG
Andrew Hodgson
Hristo Itchov
James Rye
Michael Turner
Sam B
Jethro W
Will Tway
John Roberts
Phil Thornton
Ken Murray (R)
Fulvio Policardi (R)
Doni Yourth (R)
Mike Beattie (R)
Lorenzo Galluzzi (R)
Kruger Enge (R)

PRIVATEERS drivers
Al Heller
Bookie W
Graham Poole
Bartosz Podreckony
Rick Nauman
Ruud Savelkoul
Steve Bird
Vosblod
Burtoner (R)
Billy Nobrakes (R)
Viss (R)
Peter Maestro (R)
Bernie D (R)
            Sharkfin (R)

NOTE: In the event of more then 19 entrants a second grid will be run for the Privateers on ukgpl.6. (IP 80.5.200.198) Instructions will be provided in the chatroom – please ensure you join the correct server, due to the way we import if you start the race on the wrong server your result will not count. If you can try to make sure you are in the chatroom by 8.50pm this will enable a decision without any delays to the start time.

SERVER UPDATE Please note the Graduates cup will now be run from IGOR

Watkins Glen International ("The Glen") is an auto race track located near Watkins Glen, New York, at the southern tip of Seneca Lake. It was long known around the world as the home of the United States Grand Prix, which it hosted for 20 consecutive years (1961–1980). In the early years races passed through the heart of the town with spectators lining the sidewalks, but after a car left the road in a 1952 race, killing one spectator and injuring several others, the race was moved to a new location on a wooded hilltop southwest of town. Later a permanent race course was constructed on 550 acres, overlapping part of the previous course. Despite improvements, the circuit became unable to safely handle the increasingly faster and stiffer ground effect cars of the late 70s and a few horrendous, sometimes fatal accidents and increasingly rowdy segments of the crowd began to tarnish its image. Finally, in May, 1981, several months after Alan Jones had won the 1980 race for Williams, the International Auto Sports Federation removed the race from its schedule because the track had failed to pay its debts to the teams.

Argh, last time I checked I was in the "privateers". Now I am suddenly a "works" driver. Shocked

Can't make this race sadly, as I'm away this weekend. That's a shame, as I can't break my bad luck jinx at the Glen, as evidenced here...

https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=4236#event1047

Oh yeah, it seems my name has magically changed to "zak" in this race result???

Slow down a bit  Wink
We wanted to make the Works slightly larger, being the one for all of us to aim for. I think you'll probably fit in there nicely but we'll be flexible once things get going.

Not sure about Zak but your name did appear twice in the system when I loaded the Kyalami results - ? an old registration

I was registered when UKGPL was on the old site, and was on the old yahoo mailing list. I had long disappeared by the time everything got ported over to srou, so just re-registered on this site. Dunno if that's messed things up?

All the race results from the old system were brought over into SRou so you should be able to recover your old racing history (assuming you have one).  Re-registering wouldn't affect that so it shouldn't have messed anything up.

So soon? Ah well, guess I'll just have to crash and burn like I used to. Grin

I've just majorly realised that I might be in doubt for this. I'm attending the DTM at Brands Hatch, and I live 4+ hours away from the circuit. So depending on when I get back to the train station, this one's a "maybe". Dammit!

Bugger!  I'll be MIA for this afterall!   Angry

I'm on for a trip to Mosport on Sunday for a club race.  Not a chance in Hades that I'll be back in time.  Sigh...

On another score, most of you will recall that I complained in S17 about nothing but trouble with respect to losing all kinds of steering lock in my GP67 cars in VROC.  Normally, I can rock the steering over from full-left lock to full-right lock in pitlane and just lose sight of the inside faces of the front rims.  In VROC, I get but a fraction of this.  As you might imagine, this causes all manner of difficulty in adapting and usually takes me 1/2 a full UKGPL event to finally get a handle on the change.  It's like I have a variable steering thingie going on and fiddling with the steering hack parameter seems to have little or no affect.  Any suggestions as to how to clear this glitch?  TY.

Good Luck on Sunday, gys!  Smiley

If I can find a decent signal on the train come race-time, I should be eligible for the tokens for starting. If my evil plan comes to fruition!

Hmm no comment, but if there's justice in this world you'll find yourself entering a big long tunnel as the flag goes down  shifty
