Sounds interesting, nice to see something completely different being tried too - glad you chaps had fun!

Unfortunately wasn't about to give this a shot but I wouldn't mind an excuse to fire up rFactor again so will be interested to see what comes next (if you're planning to change that is?).

If you are - have we got any chance of a recent F1 mod to run alongside the remaining real life calendar? In an ideal world, Sunday nights on here racing with you guys after having watched the real thing would be superb if the 07/ 09 mods are any good!

I'm not convinced modern F1 cars translate well to sim-racing. They are simply too fast, the brakes are too good and the cornering is stupidly fast. They are very hard to simulate properly because you need such lightning fast feedback from the game and from your own reactions that they are nigh on impossible to drive without aids and in close company.

CART Factor is just on the edge of the cars being stupidly good imho, but the brakes aren't that great from the 1998 cars and the downforce isn't like a modern F1 either that that just makes it possible.

I would like to try a fast single seater in GTR2 if possible, but are there any decent single seater mods for GTR2? Although I think F1 79 was better in GTR2 than rFactor, I'm still not a fan of the cars. If GP2 or older F1 cars (90s) are available in a decent mod for GTR2 maybe they are something to try?

I wasn´t able to attend after all, so hopefully we have some sort of rF racing in the future too. The Enduracers Endurance mod would be coo to try online.

I found this Champcar 05-06 mod for GTR2...
http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=9810

Anyone tried it?

And this Mazda mod for GTR2...
http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=11866

I might try them out tonight to see if they provide a GTR2 based alternative if no-one has beaten me to it.

Will the P&G server (& others) be coming straight up after this race? (While the rF one is sent packing? Wink)
It was going to be, but since you're being so pushy I might just leave them down for an extra hour or two. Tongue Tongue laugh
Thanks Dave, we had nine of us on there for a race in a weeks time  laugh laugh

I would try that option if it happens..

I think the cars would work if they had some feel at low speeds. The iRacing Lotus is quite similar in many ways - more downforce but less straight line speed, but it is far easier to race. It also suffers from lack of feel at slow speeds, which seems to be something odd with the FFB on that car in particular, but the big difference is that when the tail does step it is progressive and you get a bit of warning. This makes all the difference. Driving round club last night was like driving on ice, with anything more that a breath of throttle having the back end round in the first part. I've watched all sorts of cars do that corner in real life and none of them drive it like that!

I really love the F1 88 mod and it isn't stupidly quick or clinical compared to the various F1 mods out there (MMG/FS etc etc).... the only problem is not having a field full of McLarens, which is where the CART mod is good  Smiley

The CART mod has features that make it more appealing..... quite basic cars with 850bhp+ and steel brakes make it easier for close racing.

F1 cars don't make great racing (as show in real life  Cheesy).... most corners have such high entry speeds its hard to get down the inside and with such short and sharp braking areas it is impossible to outbrake your opponent.

I've tried recently the new F1 2009 v2.1 mod for GTR2, and I can suggest you to try it. Some good improvements done especially in the graphic sector, Engine Sounds, and a better physics than the first release... Download from http://www.esport-racing.de/include.php?path=content/download.php&contentid=1669, if you are not registered, there's an external link to megaupload: http://www.esport-racing.de/include.php?path=content/download.php&contentid=1669

About the GP2 I've tried something like this http://www.esport-racing.de/include.php?path=content/download.php&contentid=1442&PHPKITSID=7255f43e800cb73e969e58b1bf6efd97 but I think that it's a really difficult mod... that car has no grip at all... I don't know if that's more near a simulation than I think... Give it a try, and let me know what you think about it.

You already know the gp79 mod, and I think that it's the most difficult open wheeler mod, even if it's very funny!

I really dislike all the others open wheeler mod except for the F3000 http://www.esport-racing.de/include.php?path=content/download.php&contentid=983&PHPKITSID=7255f43e800cb73e969e58b1bf6efd97 that for me is the best open wheeler mod for GTR2...

Wait for your opinons! Cu

The Formula Nipple mod is pretty good
http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=Formula%20Nippon%202008%20%28FN2008%29

Why don't we go back to F1 in 1955 Wink
http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=1955%20F1

Still the GP79 mod is awesome.

I still think that rF gets the benefit for online racing, as it has too many pro's versus GTR2.

I have tried a few single seater mods on GTR2 including a champ car mod. I thought CartFactor was better than the GTR2 champcar mod that I tried. It was called 'ChampCar Lola' or something like that.

The 1988 F1 is very good, probably a good option for league racing. The 79 mod has the slowest corner speeds (allowing good racing) but the cars are extremely fragile.

So far I have only tried those mods on GTR2, not rFactor. Yet. Grin

I do have to agree that more modern F1 mods are very difficult to race. Lots of practise is definitely needed. The way I see it, that is how it should be with a single seater mod though.

I have not tried the F3 mod yet. Maybe that would be better for league racing. We can all get really good at that and then move onto modern F1 cars. Yay! Grin

Hahaha yes what have I started!?

I'd be really interested in a good single seater mod, any of those mentioned look interesting - to be honest the most fun I've had from the ones I've tried is probably the FBMW's in Race/ GTR Evo, I think we've tried a series for those before though!

Looks as if there are plenty to choose from, anything a few steps down from F1 would be a great idea - when i had my server H@L and I used to run the F1 mod for GTR2 and it was a lot of fun. You do adjust eventually but yeah it's still a tricky one. Working up to it for a season or two would be ideal, and if we could use the modern F1 tracks that would be even better!
