Are we really only looking at open wheelers, or will other good mods also be an option?

We will look at other mods but until and unless we get something single seaterish going in iRacing, it's the most obvious hole in our offerings.

We will look at other mods but until and unless we get something single seaterish going in iRacing, it's the most obvious hole in our offerings.

This is my top-mod list:

Toyota Supra mod

Only released recently but already one of the nicest mods. Cars aren't really fast (2 versions of the Supra 93/98) and are streetversions. Cars have nice bodyroll and check out those headlight effects! Great mod for racing no doubt as cars are nicely controllable.

http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=Toyota%20Supra%20MKIV

Formula Nippon

The open wheeler mod for me. Cars have lots of grip and not too fast, so will be quite suitable for close racing. Graphics are great and so are the sounds.

http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=Formula%20Nippon%202008%20%28FN2008%29

Touring Car Legends

Not the best graphics, but boy are these cars amazing to drive, very lively and awesome door to door action. Probably one of the best touring car mods

http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=Touring%20Car%20Legends

Historic GT & Toruing Cars

Basically GTL for rF, but A LOT BETTER. Physics are 1000 times better and so is the damage modelling. Cars feel a lot more alive instead of feeling sluggish and sloooow in GTL. A must try for eveybody who like GTL or PnG

http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=Historic%20GT%20%26%20Touring%20Cars

BMW 320 E21

Quite possible THE best touring car mod. Old BMW's with limited setup options but a ton of driving fun. Sounds are amazing, the close racing even more amazing. These cars always put a huge smile on my face

http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=BMW%20320%20E21

GP 1979

This remains the best open wheeler for rF. Cars are great to drive and lovely to sldie around. Very fragile and difficult, but very rewarding.

http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=Grand%20Prix%201979

Truck Series Racing:

I know this looks horrible for most people, but these trucks rock! Waaay too much power and no weight on the back wheels, need I say more Grin. The way these trucks bounce over curbs, and struggle at corner exit makes them very fun. Racing is great, as these trucks are very equal and competitive.

Mods that look good but I haven't tested:

1970 World Sports Car Championship
http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=1970%20World%20Sports%20Car%20Championship

Spirit of '76:

288 GTO:

2CV:

Historic Rally Cars:

And this one is specially for Team Prodigy:

Love the GP79 mod, Is the League edition any better with reliability?

Touring Car Legends looks a right laugh, fancy being Gerry Marshall for an evening!  Smiley

I know it may be blasphemy, but by the time everyone decides on a mod, iRacing leagues will be all but ready. Is that not an option?

I wasn't aware that iRacing had made not running rFactor events a condition of league racing. Tongue Besides...

I found this mod: Formula 5000 1973 http://www.virtualr.net/formula-5000-beta-update-released/#comments

these cars are great fun to drive but there's a big overheating problem with this mod.

found out first that you need to lift off the throttle when upshifting, otherwise your engine will blow up in no time Tongue

even with that my engine still blows up after a few laps.

but I definately recommend you guys try this one out!

well the only big problem with this mod is the engine overheating, but you can turn off mechanical failure on the server so thats no problem...

it's the most fun open wheel mod I've played so far, think p&g meets open wheeling Smiley

Sounds interesting Jos - I love watching the old footage of those cars on Youtube, big fat tyres and plenty of horses always good ingredients for some slip slidey action.

I have just won an rFactor disk on fleabay so now I'm looking at all these wonderful mods.

Can't wait to drive against Noddy and his chums in Miniville. What's not to love? Anyone know what the handling's like in those toy town specials? Also is the damage modelling accurate?

Naturally my first port of call will be the GTL clone. Let me have a go with that then I'll report back.
