No, you don't need the antideco patch for this to work. Just change the 'hosts' file. Don't forget to save your existing hosts file.

Yeah just tried this and it worked 3 out of 3 times. Out of interest Geoffers what IP Address did you use?

I used this one, 81.19.209.165. to access the UKGTL server.

Funny thing was, I couldn't get it to work at first, then I noticed I had missed the 'r' out of the word 'server' when changing the 'hosts' file.  laugh

So Geoffers,
Am I understanding you correctly, that you added the following line to your host file & it worked?:

81.19.209.165 www.gtl-server.net

Cheers

Well I'm thick and I just did it.

Just make sure you put " 85.214.139.23 " as the address in your hosts file and just add the UKGTL IP address: 81.19.209.165 in the game.

No Legzy, add 85.214.139.23 to your hosts file and 81.19.209.165 in the game. Smiley

I dread to think what "simples" means in Portuguese Smiley

Here's what I did....

Go to

http://www.gamers-crib.com/forum/showpost.php?p=87225&postcount=20

Follow the instructions and put " 85.214.139.23 www.gtl-server.net " as the address in your hosts file.

Open the game as normal and select multiplayer, but then select the Direct/Lan option and click on "add IP address". Then just add the UKGTL IP address: 81.19.209.165. This will then take you to the usual log in page which you click as usual.

It will search for a few seconds and then the UKGTL Long Beach server will appear. Just enter as normal.

Hope this helps.

TONY & MYSELF HAVE DECIDED THAT IT'S BEST IF WE CALL OFF TONIGHTS RACE NOW, RATHER THEN LEAVE IT TILL LATER TODAY.

We're as disappointed as yourselves to have to cancel any championship race, but feel that it is the correct decision for tonight. (for some people this may be a straight forward action, but for others it could lead to them missing a Championship race. No other "click it & go" fix has miraculously appeared, so it's better to know sooner then later)

This new "Ruby" fix seems promising & will potentially be the tool we use to race at Bathurst next week, when everyone has had a chance to prepare/test their connections in advance.

Once again sorry to cancel it, but hopefully you'll all join us tonight anyway to get your racing fix/console yourselves with a UKP&G fun race at Barcelona. Details HERE

Good move chaps - absolutely nothing to do with the fact I've not turned a wheel around here either.  Grin

If possible, I'd love to still race around here at some point - looks like it's got the potential to be mega with the elevation changes and big stops.

Hahaha very cool PR. While we're doing random thread hijacking, an old classic to lift the mood - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tFdTp_qanE

Oh well, probably a wise move, but as James says, so long as this race gets rescheduled - I tried the e-type last night and it was really excellent fun, even if I fear for my ability to keep out of the walls for 50 minutes.

This track was one of the very first UKGTL races I did, but being knackered that night I stuck my Pantera in the wall......ah, memories.....

I agree, best thing is to cancel Long Beach tonight & hopefully reschedule it. Like Mr Oily, I haven't turned a wheel here yet! Mind you I haven't turned a wheel at Barcelona either  Shocked
