OK I have just received my RFactor disk 2008 special edition...couple of questions if anyone can help

1 I have adjusted the FFB to minimum yet it is still like a weight training session Shocked Shocked how can I get to reduce this alot more.

2 Do I need to do anything so that I can make the next SROU RFactor race.

3 the menu pages look very poor quality Iam doing someting wrong or is that how it looks.

4 How does one adjust the cockpit view in game?

Please treat me as a complete novice when giving help and advice Smiley

Loaded the CART and FNippon, looks great..especially the FNippon. Cool

Most of the mods have various FFB options - look for the Upgrades tab in the vehicle selection thingy.

2 Do I need to do anything so that I can make the next SROU RFactor race.

If you've got the Nippon mod installed and working you should be good to go.

3 the menu pages look very poor quality Iam doing someting wrong or is that how it looks.

Depends what you mean by poor quality - they're quite "arcady", but no worse than Race or (dare I say) GTR2.

4 How does one adjust the cockpit view in game?

I think you can map keys etc in the controller options which let you move the viewpoint around somewhat.

No, you are right JPS, the menus and whole interface does look very dated with low res graphics.

With FFB on full you get all the canned, false effects. Set it to low and use the percentage slider to control it.

There are keys for everything. Scroll down for the seat movement keys.

The only way I could reduce the weight training session was to adjust the settings in the Windows game controler, the Car addons didn't seem to do anything.

How do I get XD to work on this??

The FNippon is one the best open wheel sims I've played, really feels great Cool

There is a plugin which enables XD to be used with rF. I've just tried to find it on no grip but failed miserably. Also my XD display flickers which is annoying, so beware.

If you're still strugglng with ffb I can post my settings which feel really nice with the Nippon mod if you want to try them.

I don't think you need a plugin for XD, the latest version "just works", you simply drop the dx3d.dll or whatever it's called into the rFactor directory.

If I were a betting mad I'd say you'd not bothered to download and install the latest DirectX 9.0c as instructed in the README for it...

First of all, make a copy of your controller config settings which are in your rF Userdata folder. I usually put the copy on my desktop. Then open up your controller config and scroll down to Force Feedback. Replace with the following values:

FFB Device Type="1"
FFB Effects Level="4"
FFB Gain="0.55862"
FFB Ignore Controllers="0"
FFB Throttle FX on steer axis="1"
FFB Brake FX on steer axis="1"
FFB steer vibe freq mult="0.00000"
FFB steer vibe zero magnitude="0.12000"
FFB steer vibe slope="0.00000"
FFB steer vibe wave type="0"
FFB steer force prediction="0.00000"
FFB steer force max change="100.00000"
FFB steer force neutral range="0.00000"
FFB steer force neutral function="0.00000"
FFB steer force exponent="0.78000"
FFB steer force input max="-11500.00000"
FFB steer force output max="1.00000"
FFB steer force grip function="0.00000"
FFB steer force grip weight="0.28000"
FFB steer force grip factor="1.00000"
FFB steer front grip fract="0.00000"
FFB steer update threshold="0.00000"
FFB steer friction coefficient="0.00000"
FFB steer friction saturation="0.00000"
FFB steer damper coefficient="0.00000"
FFB steer damper saturation="0.00000"

This should give you a nice starting point, but they are infinitely tweakable. For instance, you might prefer not to have the canned effects.

Don't panic - XD doesn't actually tell you a lot beyond what's available in the in-game HUD. laugh
