Moderator's Report

Drivers who overspent their seasons Token Allocation

Server replay time: 585s

Tim Robey is recovering from a separate incident when he is challenged by two cars as a result of his loss of speed. One driver passes then the other driver, [VDA] King, lines up for a pass on Tim taking the inside line in a braking zone. Once in the braking zone, Tim, who is on the outside line, moves toward the inside line a little just as King gets close to Tim. This happens before either car is in position to start turning in for the corner. This catches King off guard. King has to take avoiding action and is unable to take the corner and leave enough room for Tim. They have side by side contact on the corner and Tim is knocked off track and looses a great deal of time.

Tim’s move toward the inside line from the outside in the braking zone does seem very aggressive. Tim’s car moves from the inside line to the outside line by a distance that is about equal to the width of his car. Tim’s side ways movement is the cause of this incident. Tim did loose out very badly in the race from this incident and it was not reported by the victim. As a result of this Tim Robey will have no penalty.

King was not at fault here. He did about all that he could to prevent a more serious incident than the one that occurred. Hence no penalty will be issued to King.

  • Tim Robeyadvice — No drastic sideways movements in braking zones
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Hello guys!
Unfortunately I will miss this one Sad. I have an official test for an Italian champ in which VDA team is involved, and I risk to be fired by my admin if I not attend at this race Grin Grin. Even if I prefere more & more P&G races (shhh... don't tell it to my admin Smiley) I have to give up for this one, hoping that the next date won't happen again.
However, I think that lele and Mr."White Pig" king will join the race to represent the team VDA.

Hope to see you soon on track! Bye  Wink

High 2.01 in the RSR much nicer to drive than the IROC and a mid 2.08 in the Daytona

Tested a couple more cars last night, seems some of them do need to show more respect to "that chicane" then others do.

Hope to be on the server from 10pm tonight

Special Starting Procedure for this race

Due to the chicane (at about T3) being "quite tricky" for the tanks particularly, we have decided that we need to enforce a rolling start for this event.

Therefore:
The driver in Pole Position will lead off the rest of the grid at no faster then 80kph (50mph) till he is past the chicane. All other cars shall follow in single file with zero overtaking. Once you get past the chicane you can proceed to race as normal.

If you have any questions on this, please ask before you get to the event Smiley

I can see why you would need to do this, but the problem with single file starting is that anyone from about 10th onwards will end up so far behind the lead cars that their race will effectively be run before lap1 is over  Sad

Personally i think we should stick to a standing start but exercise extreme caution/no overtaking at the chicane, just like any other tight chicane/hairpin turn on lap 1 of a race. It will keep the field closer.

I'm just in the 2:03's now in the RSR and seems to put me in the mix with a few fellow pacers around same laptimes. Hope for a good race.  Smiley

Pole won't help you Dave unless you have a a power car  Wink
With the semi rolling start the agile cars will not have a few turns to get sufficiently ahead
out of the chicane to not get mugged on the straight. I am expecting to be even further
back in the field by the loop than I would have been "if" I had survived the opening chicken run.
I am expecting there to be several offs in the loop during the race as power cars make "ambitious"
passes and lose it over the edge.

Curiouser and curiouser.

First it's the tokens. Pardon me but they've not been huge success.

Then it's the odd starting times.

Now it's a rolling start (cos its safer). Bunkum I say.

Your'e making changes to suit the drivers who dont have the patience to wait and would prefer to win a race on the first corner.

Come on guys lets get back to some ground roots racing.

Lets try rewarding the guys who stay on circuit and show the concentration and racecraft to go the full race distance.

I've been here an awful long time and I keep hearing how good we all are at racing. Sorry to burst your bubble but most of the guys here can't keep a car out of the wall for more than a few laps. Oh yes you are quick but at what cost. In most races I qualify at the back of the grid. Strange then that in most races I make up to ten places by Lap 2. That is of course if I haven't been knocked off by someone at the front of the grid who goes off at T1 and then pushes his way back to the front using slower drivers as a braking system.

I think a reality check is in order before we all go spending our iRacing dollars and finding that the racing is no better.

As the saying goes.........just my twopennorth.

Legzy, although I can see your way of thinking about the start, I'm afraid I too must state that, it may be best to just let us 'get on with it', this track has many passing opportunities and we could fall into the old GTR2 trap of the pole sitter spearing off into the distance with a rolling start, if any numpties make silly manouvres then penalise them severely with the mods power.

Speaking as a long termer I think I've shown a fair bit of restraint in the first laps or two in the past, not always admittedly, but more often than not I go for the wait and pounce approach, which tbh has given some pretty good results in the past, wouldn't you agree?

So please reconsider this suggestion for the time being, there is always next season.  Wink

We are making a ruling to suit the prevailing track conditions to ensure that for at least one lap everyone gets a good chance to avoid incident or misshap.
We think that by the time the chicane in question is approached for a second time the field will have spread out somewhat and drivers can use their own common sense and gentlemanly driving.
