Moderator's Report

A second win in a row for Hristo closes the gap at the top with Lorenzo still leading and Jethro in third place.
No reported incidents so a nice easy moderating job.

EDIT: I just noticed this race is missing from the Standings page.
Now fixed.

Interesting re some saying connection problems on ukgpl4 as there were issues on ukgpl6. Doesn't look like there was a problem with the server, wondering whether it could be a track issue.

My Lap 7 curse struck again in this one.

Quallied on full tanks to set a miserable time in the BRM. My plan was to pootle around, stay out of the way and hope the carnage would gift me a few places. This plan seemed to work at the start. fpolicardi blew his engine on the grid and I managed to weave a way through. Being mindful of the PRO settings and the BRM's fragility, I short-shifted around the laps and before long I was up to 4th due to alot of people heading for the scenery in front of me. Sadly, it was all for naught. As I put the power down coming out of Cascades on lap 7 the engine let go and I coasted to a stop. Race over yet again Sad

The BRM engine is quite reliable actually. I've never had to drive it with engine saving in mind. Perhaps you're overreving under braking or not lifting up enough/on time?

I haven't got the server replay yet but I will check what it thought I was doing with the gears under braking. I felt I was under-revving if anything, and the engine let go as I was exiting Cascades in 3rd at about 9500rpm, which is pretty low for the BRM with its small power band. As for the engine's fragility, I was basing that on real life (IIRC the H-16 wasn't exactly a "simple" engine!).

Annoying as I hadn't blown a single engine in the 2 weeks of practice up until the race, and I really wanted to finish for a change Sad

The 2 long red bars I kept getting said otherwise , i got kicked out of qualifying ( privateers race ) and was waiting for the same to happen in the race , unfortunatly I took an early bath due to driver error so saved the server the trouble .

Have raced on line a fair few times on this track previously with no issues at all , so suggests the latency was poor somewhere down the line  Roll Eyes

Thankfully my daughters train was on schedule and it pulled out of Carlisle station at 19.44. So it was a sprint to the car and leg it back along the A69 as fast as the old bus would take me!! I had left my PC switched on and had even previously loaded Oulton offline to get the textures loaded in to the gfx memory just in case I needed a rapid join to the server. I needn't have worried, the server was just going up as I climbed in to my loft racing den.

I couldn't quite get down to my PB time in qually and Hristo edged me out to take pole. This was actually probably for the best because I'd found when starting from pole last Wednesday when a few of us did some practice after BREASTS that I couldn't see the flag man from there. This still did not prevent me from bogging down a little as the flag dropped but I still managed to be alongside Hristo when we got to T1. I kept tight to the inside and then as we rolled on down The Avenue a quick look left confirmed we were still level. I kept it wide round the next left hander but massive warp saw me punted off on to the grass. Virtually the whole field sped by as I crawled carefully back on track. Then as I rounded Island I heard my phone beeping to say I had a text. My daughter had promised to let us know she'd made her connection and I had initially layed my phone down on the floor next to the raceframe so I could get to it easily. As it continued to beep I was looking all over the floor but I couldn't see it anywhere, for some reason I'd put it back on the desk!! So I lept out of my seat, checked all was ok on the train front and then lept back in to finally rejoin the fray somewhat detached from the back of the pack.

Still it was a long race and I knew I had the pace to make back the time, the only worry was going to be making the passes. Thankfully I was helped by some drivers crashing and some seemingly willing to pull over and let me by. I think Doni was the only one to put up a fight but I managed to get a run on him in to T1 and nipped through. There was still 22 laps to go at that point but there was no chance of actually catching Hristo barring him making a mistake. He says he did have one scare but he still ran out a comfortable winner.

Grats again to the master, how the hell you get a Honda round in those times I'll never know.

BTW, where is the server replay?
