Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 86s

Matt goes to the inside into Mirabeu Haute entry, on Lap 1, to defend against the fast gaining Tudor. That partly explains why he brakes too late, on that unusual line, and clatters the rear end of Simon which had a knock on effect for the others. Luckily most got away lightly and all were able to continue but places/track position were lost.

Matt has owned up to his mistake and waited till the rest of the field passed through as a self imposed penalty (cost him about 15 seconds). The penalty is therefore reduced.

In case you have been hiding under a rock, there are GTL lobby problems. But.... all is not lost!

This is what I did to connect to the server:

1) Download & run this HOSTS HACK
2) Start GTL & select to the lobby
3) Register a new lobby account (I suggest the same name but with a blank email & password)
4) Log in with your new account & you should see a list of servers

With that fix, there is no need to touch your host file (unless you've already changed it, then you would need to remove the GTL changes you did). If this fix has not worked for you, then please check out this thread for more info/questions: https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=6869.msg119486#msg119486

All members welcome.

Because this is a street circuit, you will be expected to drive with extra caution. An accident here can take out a lot more people than at a road course, so drive within your capabilities. This is a 23 lap, ~50 minute race so take your time overtaking, there are plenty of laps to do it in.

Track: Monaco 1979 v1.2 (download here)
Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: Standing

Practice: ~19:15 (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:15 (15 mins)
Race: 20:30 23 laps (~50 mins)

Cars allowed: Austin Mini Cooper S, Toyota Corrola (Available Here) (excluding the '1310 Mini Cooper S').

Server: UKGTL Classic Cup
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page
(4) This race will be run using the UKGTL Skin Pack 1.8.0.0 which will need to be installed prior to racing; please get it from the downloads page.
(5) The current Lobby connection fix can be downloaded HERE & if you're having problems after that, check HERE

We're at Monaco for the penultimate race of the sprint season.

Drivers Championship
We still have three drivers with a chance of the title:
Ade is currently 3rd having not had his best run of results recently. In reality he needs to win this & for Monaco to serve up a 'nice slice of its unpredictability' to Oily, to still be in with a title shout when we travel to Mugello the following week.
Lazlow is 2nd & is 77 points ahead of Ade but 97 behind Oily & with a maximum 200 points available really needs two more great drives.
Oily is champion-elect & has responded excellently to recent pressure with back to back wins at Long Beach & Melbourne. Just needs 104 points points to clinch his first ever title (though we've given him a few on Team-Speak Wink), with 4th spot being his previous best season.

Teams Championship
Two teams remain in the hunt for Team bragging rights:
Team Oldie (Lazlow, API, Legzy, Tinman, Blunder, Oilseal) are currently 2nd & going to need to extract every ounce of their experience to even get within sniffing distance of the title... unless something most peculiar happens Undecided.
Team Prodigy (Too many drivers to list Oily, Dynosaur, PR, Tibs, Spanner, Ross, Tony, Spadowski, Kevin Keegan, Maggie Thatcher, Oily's cousins mate, Some bloke Tony met down the pub.....) have all been both excellent & consistent in every round so far, to create a 42 point gap with only a maximum of 70 available to catch them.

Start your engines gentleman. Cool

Had  a whirl in the COrrola. it's manic! It "feels" faster on the straights (less bendy bits) than a mini would be
Not managed a proper time yet, does anyone have target times they would care to share?
Missed last week's as I was away stuck in London, on leave this week, so have some time for praccy.

After a couple of laps in each and well off the foreseen pace....

Mini         1:56.7xx
Corolla     1:58.6xx

Corolla gives the impression of being quicker, but I reckon the panel beaters are in for a bonanza.

Yeah great write-up Legz, although I'm trying to steer clear of the press, don't want to get distracted by the hype Smiley

Oh yeah, it's 6 Vs. 6 active drivers just for the record Wink

Brilliant fun last night, really looking forward to some more races this eve - boy is it tricky to overtake around here though! I don't know why that should come as a surprise but I figured it would be slightly easier in a Corolla/ Mini than in the F1 cars we see each year...apparently not with SROU people at the wheels lol.

See you tonight about 9'ish if you're about...

Cheers Dan & Oily... & Oily, I'll never let the truth get in the way of a good story Wink

Yeah cracking fun last night, felt like we had seven people all attached on the same toe-rope!
I'm pleased that it seems the mini & Corolla are dead even, I was concerned the mini might have a bit of an edge here (They were both doing 1:53/4's even with me driving them).
Catch you all tonight (9pm+) for some more Smiley
