Just fired mine over to you Ken.

Feel free to join the server and see if you make it back in time. We won't hit the pit-stall limit and as it's a fun race I guess it doesn't matter too much if you qualify.

Thanks Iain, even though there isn't much adjustment those alien types can still make a setup very twitchy, yours is much more stable.

I must be missing something, 1.27.1 for me  Huh Undecided

I should be in practice from the very beginning tomorrow.

There isn't a lot you can do with the setup but a good going in position is to soften the rear end as much as possible to give you confidence that it'll stick, and then gradually stiffen it up until it becomes too edgy.

you can't trail brake these things

I guess that's setup dependant. Wink

Well, you can trail brake 'these things' but it's not like driving a GT car in GTR2 is what I meant Tongue

Can we have an updated drivers list please?

I'm lost between user names and iRacing names.

Brian, I thought we had a names list already going but I can't find it so possibly I imagined it! More likely it's buried somewhere where it can't be found...

Pops setup has made a world of difference for me Spanner. It makes it far more stable and lets you push and push Smiley Also, I'd be amazed if us iR noobs manage to compete with the regulars just yet (no pressure gents Wink).

More questions:
- Where do you see how much fuel you use - or just tell me how much to put in. Wink
- What do you do in the pits?
- Can you change tyres?
- Add fuel?
- Will the tyres last through 40 minutes?
- If you're damaged and come to the pits - do they repair damage?
- What's the penalty for speeding in pits in private league?
- Do we use flags here? I'd be interested in the blue one... Wink
- When you lose control in practice it sometimes tells you to slow down - or you get blackflagged. Will it be doing this nonsense in the race? Angry

If there'd be an option to host your own race with AI drivers I'd test most of this stuff alone, but... Angry Sometimes iR makes obstacles you'd not expect if you own the product. thumbdown
I expect even in private league when you buy all the needed cars and tracks you still have to pay monthly to log in, right?

Unless it's changed since 2009S2, you won't need to refuel unless you put too little in to start with. Off the top of my head I would guess 8 gallons will be enough.

No real idea whether the tyres will last - don't think I've ever done a 40 minute race in a Skippy before - but I'd be quite surprised if they didn't. You can adjust tyre pressures in the pits if you change tyres, and add fuel, and that's about all.

I don't think there's any damage repair in the pits, you have to use the "fast tow" for that.

I would guess the normal pit speed limit applies, and violating it (or crossing the blend line on exit) will get you a stop and go.

Yes. You really shouldn't be going off though. Wink

I think you'll get away with 3.1 gallons for a 40 minute race, the Skip is pretty light on fuel. You'll easily do 40 minutes on the tyres.

There's no damage repair (yet) in the pits, but you can refuel and change tyres. Whenever you pit it will change tyres and add fuel automatically if you have them selected.

If you press 'F4' while you are driving it gives you how much fuel you have and many remaining laps of fuel that represents. There's a tick box (toggle with 'space bar') if it's selected it will refuel on a pit-stop, if it's off it won't. Using the right and left arrow keys increase and decrease the amount of fuel required at the stop.

'F5' gets you the same information for tyres, you can select whether to change each tyre individually and the right and left arrow keys increase and decrease the tyre pressure at the pit-stop.

'F6' gives you the tyre pressure (IMO) and wear but this is not live data like you get in GTR2, it's info. from your last pit-stop.

As you've probably discovered, there's no pit-limiter so if you do pit (which you shouldn't need to in this race) be careful. The penalty is a black flag stop & go.

The blue flag when you are getting lapped is informational only, you won't get a penalty for not obeying. Normal SRouk rules / ettiquette apply so there won't be any problems.

It only tells you to slow down if you've gone off course or cut the course, similar to the warnings in GTR2 when you cut. It doesn't differentiate between deliberate course cutting and losing control and cutting the course so it treats them the same. All you have to do is slow down and the black flag warning disappears. iRacing is a less lenient on course cutting but it works fine.

Glad it helped Smiley

Onto the pre-race betting...

I'd be AMAZED if you noobs can get anywhere near Paul Richards, Paul Harrington or Brian Kerr this season (just like GT2 then...) but it wouldn't surprise me if you and Truetom can match my pace after a few races.

28 laps around here won't be easy, I know I'll have to take it a bit easy to make sure I finish. Actually, that's my only tactic in iRacing, stay on and hope everyone else falls off Wink

Thanks for info Pops, DG. Smiley
About the pace and all that stuff: I'll be glad if I finish this race, lol. I'm not very consistent and for every lucky/fast lap I get two slower than average ones.  Cheesy
Looking forward to it, driving model is really good.  Cool
I must say, driving Marcos experience helps me here a bit. angel I bet sbg is down to 22s by now - 'cause of Marcos only, mind you. Kiss

Looking forward to tonight should be good fun and great to see lots of familier names on track!

I can't quite match my PB either which was set before we could take any fuel out. Its never been one of my better circuits pace wise but the racing has always been excellent here with that long front straight especially in these slower cars.

See you all tonight.

I wanted to let you know how I intend moderation to work for this series and a couple of clarifications.

Normal SRouk reporting procedures will be in place but we will also having a look at anyone who is picking up a lot of incident points during the race.

I would suggest that any contact (especially 'rubbing' type contact) in the Skip Barber is unacceptable due to the nature of these cars. Of course, there may be slight accidental 'racing' contact which you might feel is incidental, use your noggin as usual.

Voice and text comms are acceptable during practice but absolutely no voice comms during qually and the race. The usual text comms (pit in / out) are acceptable during qually and the race.

After the race has finished, please wait untill everyone has finished before resuming voice & text comms.

Couple of things to note that are different to GTR2;

iRacing does NOT save the replay by default, you have to remember to save it. I will endeavour to make a replay available after the race for anyone who forgets.

You might notice in qualification you might see a blue flag when you are on an outlap, that means the driver approaching is on a flying lap so please recognise that and act accordingly.

Can't think of anything else at the moment... Sorry this is a bit of a brain dump Cheesy

Can the "fast tow (reset)" number be unlimited? For a few of us, this will be an entirely new experience and I'd be amazed if I didn't fall off at least once and get at least clouted/clout someone at least once. I'd hate to think I could end someones fun that way and, as a trial race, getting as much pracci in as poss is important for at least me.
