Have to apologize to Ken. Made a pass into T1 and took too much space, contact was my fault. Sorry Ken. Sad
Have to do more iPractice, I guess. Get used to the view and amount of sliding.
After contact with Ken the car was less damaged than I feared so I didn't use the tow option. While thinking about it I missed my braking point, spun and hit the wall. And really damaged the car. Roll Eyes It was pulling to the left a bit but I carried on and finished in the same lap as the race winner. Good for me. Tongue

Nice show, Legends, glad to have you all back on track. Cool

Thanks all for yesterdays race, I really enjoyed it.  Will be even better if we can fill the grid up.

I had a good start and jumped Ian Curnow into 5th and settled into a pretty uneventful race to begin with.  I was in no-mans land, being dropped by the front 4 but pulling away from Ian.  Then one of three battling for 2nd made a mistake and T2 and I got passed him into 4th and I then saw him crash out in my mirrors a lap or so later.  So was in a comfortable 4th until I started losing concentration and out braked myself at T4.  Apologies to Ian Curnow, who I clipped when I rejoined.   I looked left and he seemed further away than he actually was, my wheels spun up at the last minute on the grass and then bit when I hit the tarmac pinging me across the track at a weird angle.  Once again apologies.

Rejoined behind Ian and couldn't believe the number of cars I could see in my mirror!  Had a few scary moments where I was convinced Adam was going to crash into the back of me!!  I couldn't believe how late you braked into T4.

Regathered myself and got back passed Ian at T1 and edged away into a safe 4th.  I have to admit, having not raced for over 6 months I found concentration really tough espicially for 40 minutes.  It seemed to go on for ever!  Was pretty chuffed with 4th, didn't know what to expect.

Look forward to racing with you all again

Sometimes it was on purpose ... sometimes it REALLY wasn't Cheesy

In the past I've had some success at making a pass into that corner, but got a little over ambitious on occasion - which is what ultimately led to my error that let Pops past.

Thx Paul, you're not all bad  Grin

Yeah the Skip Barber does slide around a bit TT but you will soon get used to it. Its fastest when you are just on that point of sliding without actually needing a steering correction because if the rear steps out you lose quite a bit of speed and momentum.

It was a tough race all in all. I had a good qually and put in a low 22 quite early on. I wasn't convinced though it would be enough and I was pretty sure Darren, Dave or Brendan would be knocking on the door come the end of the session. I pushed on a bit and on my last lap I dipped into the high 21s giving me enough for pole.

The start went well and I was clear enough of Darren to take a good line into T1.  I could see him, Dave and Brendan having a right ding dong so I pushed really hard in the opening laps to try and open a gap while they were at it. I got this out to about 4 seconds and then relaxed for a few laps but the time wasn't going out hardly at all doing mid 22s. I dropped into the low 22s and got the gap out to about 7 seconds. I have never done 40 mins in the skip barber before so I relaxed again and Dave kept the gap pretty much pegged. As the fuel dropped the car felt great in the slower section as the car turned in a little better although I had to take it easier on the exit of T1 as the rears were wearing a little. The gap went out to 10 seconds and the car felt great so I pushed for the last 6 laps and dropped just into the 21s again finishing 14 secs clear as Dave eased off.

Great to see all the familier names and there seemed to be some great racing going on from the bits of the replay I saw. Thanks to those cars for the help in the lapping very much appreciated. Looking forward to the season. not sure that I will be able to make the final few races of the season with the impending first child in early Jan. As everyone gets more and more familier with the car the racing is going to be epic I think.

very fortnight.

Or indeed every fortnight. laugh

Results now imported harder, with gaps for those on the lead lap. The total race time is not very accurate; the only source for the data is average lap time multiplied by laps complete, and the average time isn't always correct. But it should normally be good enough for our purposes.

There's also a link in the title bar of the results box which takes you to the iRacing results page.

Meh, I'd pick the st00pid points in GTR2 also if it would have the same st00pid detection. Had one wheel on the grass/sand? So what, if the track allows it. Sad  Besides, I'm still FAR in the "two wheels on black" rule. Sad

I think it's something like more than 50% of your car over the white line you get a 1x in iR TT. As much as we all like to deny it (I know I do) if it gives you the 1x you must have been off. it is very frustrating sometimes especially when you think you've hardly strayed off circuit

WoW! What a great way to kick of league iRacing.

I was a little sceptical of doing well here after not turning a wheel for a few months and was pleasantly surprised with a PB to claim 3rd on the grid.  I had a decent start and managed to slip past Darren at T1 to claim 2nd on lap 3.

After Dave had snuck by into 3rd, the plan was to try and pull away enough of a gap to cement a solid 2nd place finish.  Dave, however, had other ideas.  Lap after lap after lap the gap remained below 1 second and I started making a few little errors here and there.  Dave was obviously quicker in the slow corners but I was managing to maintain the gap through the quicker ones.  That was until I got a poor exit from the last turn and Dave pulled off an audacious move round the outside of T1.  Obviously, I had to yield into the fast left hander.

One thing I noticed was that my car seemed very loose when following Dave (still not sorted the aero yet?).  Heading into the fast left hander, I got my right rear on the grass and spun off, luckily keeping it out of the tyre wall.  After that, it was just a case of keeping all 4 wheels on the black stuff and trundling round for a pleasing 3rd place.

Grats Paul and Dave and thanks all for a great race.

This isn't GTR2, the rule is NOT "two wheels on the tarmac" in iRacing. We can't control that, if you go 50% off then you will pick up incident points.

No-one is going to get penalised in this league for getting a few 1x incidents. It's worth looking at the number of incidents you pick up though because in the Skippy, getting a couple of wheels off-track can easily lead to a spin which is dangerous.

Think those incidents were a total of pracci/quali and race? Cause I'm pretty sure I didn't get many in race.

TT, why are you bothered? We are under the UKGTR mod umbrella now and can largely ignore that nonsense now Smiley
