Moderator's Report

Congratulations to Rick, Tom (King H) and Al H. Also a mention to Billy for finishing his, first of many, Pro races.
A close call at the front thanks to Rick having a penchant for running screensavers, I'm sure he won't forget to turn it off next time.
Anyway no reported incidents so all clear on this one.

Congrats to Rick, Tom (King H) and Al H.

Pleased to qually 4th, like Spa so used up 20 tokens on the Lotus.
Two spins early on dropped me to 6th which is where I stayed for the rest of the race. The Lotus was tough as old boots, did a spin and scenery whack at Masta and it just carried on without a splutter.
The majority of the race was a solo affair until, nearing the end, I was surprised to see another car ahead. Turned out it was Bartosz but had no chance of catching him.

Enjoyed the race and just glad to have made it to the finish.

this one a big disappointment
clearly way off best pace, so lot to learn in 67s
400 yards off start line engine blew up Angry
The report in race said 'Piston'
Is this a randomised failure or something I caused?

Actually finished a 67 race. Guess this means no more complaining about Pro settings. Also avoided being lapped - which is more to do with the track length at Spa than any achievement on my part. Getting a decent lap time will take a whole lot longer.
Good maiden drive from King Hiro to finish second.
Really sorry for Bernie - a bad drive / stupid mistake you can put up with but computer / internet connection failures are hugely frustrating.
Peter - I had a piston failure at Laguna. I think it is down to over-revving / short shifting - not quite as fatal as an engine blow up but kills your race. I may be wrong.

Managed to pip Rick to pole by 0.03 but the glory was short-lived as he got the jump on me at the start & stormed off into the lead. My first lap got even worse after that as I had a bit of a wobble at Masta (it's frightening enough in GPL - god knows how the real drivers managed it Tongue) & having lost momentum was passed by both Tom (King Hiro) & Bartosz (Pod).

Felt a bit more confident once the tyres had warmed up & managed to regain 3rd from Bartosz on the straight after Carriere. I seemed reasonably quick on the exit of that corner so after stalking Tom for a few laps managed to get past at the same point. Then spent the bulk of the race once again nibbling at Rick's lead - was making some inroads but mainly because I was being pushed so hard by Tom close behind me.

With a couple of laps to go, Prib was reporting Rick was still 12 or 13 seconds up the road but then I suddenly saw him just ahead & realised he must've had a problem. Sadly I think that faint whiff of victory must've gone to my head because I pushed too hard, touched the grass on the exit of Carriere & went spinning wildly across the track. Apologies to Graham & Tom who had to take drastic avoiding action (and thanks for having such quick reflexes too Shocked) Recovered in 3rd & did a do-or-die last lap to try & catch Tom - turned out to be the fastest lap though that was only slight consolation for having chucked away second place with such a silly mistake.

Congratulations to Rick on another win & to Tom on a superb 2nd on his series debut.

Thanks for the kind thoughts Billy, yes it is frustrating but that's  GPL for you , should be used to it by now , I hope to vent my feelings on track again soon .

Will need some kind soul to host a race or two though but with password protection , so I can maybe check things out , in the meantime I'm waiting to see if my post on RSC comes up trumps  Roll Eyes

Got in some good practice time and took about 1.5 seconds off my PB.  My qualy actually set a new PB and I thought it would hold so I went to race fuel for my last stint just to get the feel.  Then as I parked it I saw P2.  Dang!  Al got me me by .03 seconds!  WTG Al.  I thought with those closely matched times that maybe this Spa race would not be the lonely race that it often can be.  But after getting the jump on Al at the start I kept checking my mirrors to see who I was racing.  The view mostly came up empty after the first lap.  Racing with a comfortable lead I managed to not have any of those "moments" that can shave momentum and time.  Not at least until about lap 13.  Unbelievably I did the same stupid thing I did at Oulton... i.e., I left my screen saver on.  This time I was extremely lucky.  The screen went black on the approach to Malmedy.  I backed off, bumped the railing to the right, but managed to grossly guess at the left turn into the esses.  It couldn't have happened at a worse place but incredibly the light came back on and I was still on the track facing forward!  Wow!  I can't believe how stupid I was, AGAIN!  So now I was seeing people in my mirrors!  But with only 2 to go I gathered myself in and got back on my pace to hold the lead to the end.

Watching the replay I did see some great battles going on.  Congrats Tom and Al on your podiums.  See y'all at Bremgarten.

My race was strange to say the least.  I was several sec off my PB during qual and then even slower during the race.  I was losing 10-12 seconds a lap the the cars just ahead of me.  I thought the engine was going to blow so I retired the car.

Turns out I had original MOMO drivers and I was driving with partial throttle AND brakes dragging!  No wonder.  Updated the drivers and all seems much better now.

Looking forward to Bremgarten but I don't know why!

I'd just installed Windows 7 and hadn't had much time to get GPL properly sorted. Offline seemed OK but when I went online I started to get random glitches, drop outs and sudden drops to low FPS so I decided to quit. I think the cause was nothing more than the firewall encountering online GPL for the first time so hopefully it won't be a problem in future.
