First corner shennanigans gifted me first spot in the GTCs, which I managed to hold onto quite comfortably for 10 laps. Then the GT1s started lapping, which had me driving in my mirrors and off I went Sad

A mixture of pushing too hard to get back and being annoyed with myself for making such a stupid mistake and I was off again...and again..... Roll Eyes Picked up some damage the last time and decided to end the misery Hit with a wet fish

Had a cut warning while avoiding the first corner crash which seemed a bit strange; maybe I crossed the pit exit  Huh

Hope others fared better tonight.

It seems that Mosport's not really going to be viable for mixed class racing, which is a bit of a shame.

I jumped straight out of a Daytona Prototype race (4th - no incidents Wink Cheesy ) and into this event. I'd done a few laps earlier in the 997 Cup to make sure my RSR setup worked, which it did, and spent practice and qualifying tweaking it a bit more.

Once the race got underway, I settled into a decent pace behind Prof, and after a few laps was able to start threatening him, especially through the last few corners where I seemed to have much better pace. Finally shaped up for a pass on his Z4M as FreQ reached us; made the pass stick and then found myself in a horrible position; all race I'd struggled to get the nose into the first part of turn 2, and here I was on the outside, with FreQ going for the inside and Prof right behind, probably thinking about whether he could sneak back past.

Of course I run off... no problem... just coax it back... uh oh... barrier... brace for impact... SMUNCH! Check engine... still running... woo! Quick, get back on and head for an early pit stop to repair the front... hang on a moment... why isn't it steering properly? er... where's my right front wheel? Huh

Almost a repeat of what happened at Zhuhai - if I'd impacted almost anywhere else on the barriers I've had been okay, but it struck just where the tyre barrier started, jutting out from the armco. Race over. :'(

Maybe we should have a Super Endurance special here with just the GTCs...

I can't believe I managed an hour without falling off at T2. It gets me every time normally even back to GPL days. Unfortunately the pit speed lane measuring guy was a bit keen and that meant I spent the last 20 minutes chasing Picnic in order not to finish last after a stop/go.
The Spyker has a big advantage here and may prove popular in S11 unless tweaked - best part of a second with barely any setup time - just love driving the Z4 though.

I've no problem with using this track in future. Enjoyed racing here tonight. Just a shame so many ended up leaving early.  Sad

Seemed fine for multi class events. There are plenty of opportunities to overtake safely.

Great fun, loved the track. Nice n' fast Grin

Replay 996 - Me pushing Dave off
Replay 1500 - Me spinning

I was unlucky when TT lapped Prof and Dave on the straight and I then got stuck behind them as they pulled alongside to duel. I thought I'd done a nice move to slice past both of them but I think putting Dave on the outside of that fast left made it difficult for him to turn in, sadly ending his race.  :'(

Then I spun at turn 1 - too much inside kerb; and was very lucky to hit the barrier square on with the rear of the car, only taking minor damage. The car hardly lost any speed at all, it just felt a little more slippy at the rear.

Had a great dice with TT all through the race. In qualifying due to hardly running, I ran my race setup for almost all of it to tweak it. When I put on the qually setup at the end, I had 3 laps and spun on my second, overheating the rears which messed up my final lap too. Second was good though Wink

Don't really know how I beat him in the pits though. The Lambo should be the slowest car in the pits because of it's thirst but I *just* beat him out despite entering the pits about 6 seconds behind him. Strangely, the car also felt a lot nicer in the second stint than the first and my best lap went from an 11.7 to an 11.1, consistently. Maybe we were just getting faster as we did more laps?

Anyway, was fun. Just annoyed I played a part in my team mate's exit  Lips Sealed

Meh, I don't get this pit thingy. Undecided Started with a full tank, pitted at half and took 30 litres of fuel, changed tyres and was off. No visible delay. I had a few seconds lead, but still Freq came out in front. 10+ seconds! How? Huh How much fuel did you take, Freq? Astons fuel usage about 2,6 l/lap.
Anyways, got pole which is always nice. Smiley Could keep a comfortable lead to Freq-sama and was confident he can't overtake on track. I still think so, even in the second stint I think I could do it - if I was in front. Roll Eyes
Aston is a great car, wing 5 was quite comfortable through corners and fast on the straight. Smiley GTCs were great. Cool

Man, I really thought I could beat Freakie for the first time. Wink

P.S. Did I really have a pleasure to see Legzy in Marcos? Was busy trying to qualify, so I just thought I saw it while taxiing by in the pits. Legzy then had a disco just before the race started, so I don't know. That car is not right for this track anyways. Wink

I wasn't fast in it by any stretch of the imagination, but it felt quite reasonable to drive here. But I learned last season that you never know a car till you've raced with it, so I'm not committed to it just yet. I'm going to read through the "Marcos Helpline... for TT" thread properly again, to give me a head-start. First impressions, it drinks a lot of fuel (slightly bigger fuel tank please Dave? Wink) & wears it's front tyres somewhat seriously laugh

I'm hoping next Sunday will involve GT1's again, I'll give the Marcos another try in practice/prep & hopefully the race.
Of course I'll need to check it out in wet conditions too Shocked.

Totally messed up the start by taking to much kerb at turn one.....span round in the middle of the track...then had to quickly press escape before I caused to much carnage....sorry guys  Embarrassed

I was using about 2.6-2.7 a lap too. I topped up just over 30l and put meds on.
Think you just need to practise pit stops, if you get them bang on you can save a lot of time. I've run through my pit methodology before but got my wrist slapped from Simon for giving out team secrets  Lips Sealed

I got the fuel spot on this time too for the first time ever - finished with below 3l.
