After some deliberation after the week 1 race and the general feedback we've had over the last few weeks Paul968 & I have put together a revised schedule;

iRacing week #    Race    date     track
1-03-NovSummit Point Raceway(Fun / Test Race)
2110-NovSummit Point Raceway
4224-NovLowe's Full Road Course
6308-DecLaguna Seca
8422-DecVirginia International Raceway [VIR] Full / * Lime Rock Chicane
10505-JanLime Rock Park (non-chicane)
12619-JanSilverstone GP / * Summit Short

Green = tracks included in the subscription
Red = tracks requiring purchase
* see below

There are a number of reasons for suggesting the revisions while still trying to retain some of the the 'cheap as possible' ethos.

Demand for the iRacing league has been much higher than we expected, we've got well over 30 drivers interested which is awesome  Cool

The original schedule was put together with an expectation there would probably be under 20 drivers if I'm honest and in retrospect, Summit Point in race 1 wasn't the best choice of tracks given the turnout and the variance in experience in the field.

With a higher turnout for race 2 expected the originally scheduled location of Lime Rock is probably an equally bad (if not worse) choice hence the change there. Moving it to Lowe's Road course gives us more pit boxes. This allows us to move Lime Rock to the end of the season when we've all had a bit more experience.

I think we roughly have 3 groups of drivers and tried to tweak the schedule accordingly;

1) The iRacing hardcore - I assume these guys will be happy to see a couple of different tracks on the schedule.

2) The "1 month trial" guys - You guys can still race on the free tracks for the first few races. I think some of you signed up with the Radical offer in which case you have Silverstone when/if you re-subscribe which is partly why that track was included.

3) The "3 month trial / re-sub" guys - I'm thinking that there might be some guys who signed up (or re-subbed) for 3 months to try out iRacing in a private league format with the expectation that you can do the whole season without buying any extra tracks. If this is the case and there's demand for it, we'll run free track alternative's in races 4 and 6 using Lime Rock Chicane and Summit Short which suit a smaller field size.

There is no getting round that if you want to continue iRacing then extra tracks are inevitable. We'll almost certainly be using Silverstone / VIR next season (whatever that ends up looking like) so they won't be wasted.

I hope that explains the changes. I think it will provide better racing than the original schedule and that's what we are all here for Smiley

If I'm still racing at the end of my one month trial, I'll be happy to buy VIR (to go with Silverstone that I got for free).

I don't know Lowe's yet, but delaying Lime Rock seems like a smart move to me thumbup1.

Nice one Pops.

Lowes is tricky too - T1 may cause some issues, and the last part on the infield section is tricky too.

I find Lowes to be a trickier track than Lime Rock, but that might just be me.  On the oval section it's much wider, but the infield doesn't really have an awful lot of room.  That said - last time I've been there it was the SRF, it might be different in the Skippy.

In any case, we'll have to be careful again.

One of the problems with Lime Rock is that if you do make a mistake or spin, it's too easy to stay on track and cause a bigger problem.

If you go off at T1 at Lowe's at least you'll properly go off Grin

... as long as you don't hit the wall and bounce back into the racing line.....

I guess it's still a trial season - those that love it will buy more tracks, those that don't won't.  I wouldn't envisage racing at Lowes Road again though.

The reason we chose VIR is that it's very flexible in that it has lots of layouts so gives us more options, especially if the track selection continues to be constrained.

It's also used in pretty much every road series in iRacing so hopefully, guys can get more use out of it.

I'm definitely in the 'Re-subbed for 3 month' category.  The intention was to see how leagues pan out and decide whether to re-sub or not.

As a previous yearly subscriber, I've obviously bought content that may or may not be used in the league structure, and TBH I'm OK with that.  The real clincher for me is that we can develop a really popular and competitive league and I've no concerns about purchasing the additional subs or content to remain a part of that.

That said, I fell out of love with VIR a long time ago, but I can understand the reasons for choosing it.

Keep up the good work guys.

On almost the same subject Wink... have you an idea where any of the "less cheap" fortnightly fun races are going to be run yet? (other then next week at Laguna obviously)

Not trying to hurry you, just seeing what might be coming up. Smiley

Cheers

It's a fair question Legzy.

There are 4 fun races left, off the top of my head I'm thinking we do something like.... (in no particular order);

SRF @ Lime Rock
Radical @ Silverstone
Star Mazda @ VIR
Dallara Indycar @ Road America

The other option would be to run more races with whatever car we run next season but I have no idea what that might be just yet I'm afraid. That's for another discussion...

I'm with you on that one Brendan, I don't dislike VIR, I just can't stay on the tarmac! For me it's one of if not the toughest road course in iRacing.

As Pops says tho it's got a lot of configs and is used in nearly all the series so I can see the logic. It'll certainly but good value for money

I love Road America in GTR2 & Paul tells me VIR is very good... so (assuming I'm still here) all looks nice ta. Cool
