The Lotus requires a LOT of practice and a good a handle on the set-up's to drive consistently, it's a tough, tough car.

IMO, I don't think it's a great candidate for close and enjoyable racing.

Not a great fan of Road America, as it is rather narrow and doesn't have many fast corners, which are the interesting ones (to me anyway).

I raced the Lotus last season, and in some ways it is good to race. The problem comes in the fast corners, where you have to have a setup that promotes downforce and then be able to trust it will do the business as you go into the bends faster than seems possible.

If we do them in this order then the tracks are available Smiley

01 Dec Radical @ Silverstone GP
15 Dec Dallara Indycar @ Road America
29 Dec Star Mazda @ VIR Full
12 Jan  SRF @ Lime Rock

So we don't end up with a complete fixture overload, I think it would make sense to replace the Star Mazda race on the 29th with the proposed Endurance race we've been discussing here;

Suits me, sir.

I know what you mean, but I think that's kind of the attraction of the fast single seaters. They're such a contrast to the sports cars, even the faster ones. I do find the IndyCar much more 'catchable' than the Mazda though, even with the latter's new aero and tyre package; I don't have the Lotus to compare it with.

The Lotus is quite different from the Indycar though in that regard. T1 at Sebring in the Lotus is just mental with the right setup, as it seems like you will just understeer off every lap. Go fast enough though and a mysterious hand suddenly starts helping you round the corner, so much so that you have to be realy careful not to just drive straight into the inside wall!

Yes it is Ken, apologies for the lateness of the announcement (which is now up).

Given that the SRF lost out to the Skippy and we've decided on that plus the Dallara for next season, would people prefer to do another Dallara race next week (12th) instead of the SRF?

Personally, I'd really like to do more races in the SRF as I'm sure it would help with some closer and more fun racing.  I am a bit of a noob with iRacing though so am not really up to snuff with the Dallara.

Cheers, Ross.

Not me.
Am I right in thinking that the vote was very close, so the SRF is popular?

Have to agree with Ross on this one - the Dallara's a great drive and I've seen that close racing is definitely possible with it (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bbRqLwMUr0A) but given the choice, as a noob I'd rather see more SRF races too so we've got a chance of some wheel to wheel stuff without too high a risk of total carnage Smiley.

...any chance of changing it to the chicane version of Lime Rock though? Wink  Much more fun than the plain track.
