However annoying technical issues might be, I always try to remain philosophical about them. I just accept them as mechanical/electrical failure which after all happens all the time in real world racing. A real PIA at times, but one rule for all and we all know where we stand (or fall).

Just my opinion Smiley

Sorry Goldtop but a disconnection is really a bit different than a car accident or mechanical/electrical failure as you said... In real world racing I had never heard about a drivers who is retired from race caused by a disconnection... I think that of Icarus was not a great strategy if made in purpose... Server or track troubles with that real bad GTR2 netcode is not a driver's trouble, and I can't accept your philosophical version...
However anyone is free to think what he wants...
Some other opinions?

Hmm, think i'll stay out of that one!

Anyway had a pretty enjoyeable race, being that i hadnt managed to get round the first corner on consequtive laps in practise and qually i was surprised i managed to avoid it during the race though tat was due to me being cautious with a heavy tank and being in the dark.
Sorry to Lazlow who i hit on the start as the car infront didnt move though it meant i had no lights all race which made things even more interesting into the first corner! Slowly realised i was dropping back as the next car ahead was some 20 sec at times so when Mcfids came up behind i thought i'd be as defensive as i could Wink Good racing there Mcfids highlight of the race.

I was suffering with this track/ car/ pc combination, the screen froze and ctrl-alt-del or alt-tab wouldnt revive it 3 times last night as the server was restarted, during practise and right at the end when after crossing the line and doing the obligatory crash i hit Esc and it locked up.

in the case of Icarus... If someone can't join the start due to a disonnection trouble it seems strange and totally unfair to charge the full amount of tokens...
I could agree in my case and for Bill Thomas, because we joined the start, he broke his suspention, and I had no frames but I moved from my place and started the race.
I've been thinking about this & have now watched the replay.
I remain of the opinion that Bill & Manteos got to race (even if it was a matter of only 100yards Sad) & they will both be charged the correct amount of Tokens for their chosen cars. (Manteos, may i suggest you reduce your graphics settings for any future possible races that require headlights)

In the case of Icarus, the replay confirmed that as stated he does not even get to join the grid let alone have a chance to pull away. This is a friendly league with the aim being to enjoy the racing together & so I think it's right that on this occasion, Icarus be charged his Average tokens amount (9.5 tokens).

Unfortunately for me I'm already at minimum graphic details Chris... I'm running with max number of visible cars 10... and this is already a big trouble because at the start I saw some cars appearing and disappearing random in front of me... My pc is really scandalous, and I can't do much more to improve mine frame rate during the night races... However if I would have make an offline starting procedure I would have seen that I have no chances to start the race due to this reason... and it happens to me in some circuit with some strange textures like daytona, that probably gives me a lot of troubles for the frame rate, especially at the start...
I want to thank you for reconsidering what happens to Icarus, and for charge him only the average amount of this race!
That's the right racing spirit in a friendly league as you said, and now we have a new written rule. "If someone is DQ at the start for any disconnection reason and don't join the track, he will be charged only of the average amount of Tokens, as if he hadn't participated to the race" In any other case even if you make 100 meters at 2 fps like me, you will be charged of the total amount of the selected car.
I think it need only a better engish statement Smiley. Do you agree?!?!

It's quite funny now seeing your racing history. Triple points figures on a very regular basis... but everyone's eyes will be drawn to the negative number! Poor Purdie really took a pasting as he crashed out early :'( laugh
