Moderator's Report

A win for John closes the gap to championship leader Hristo with Jethro close behind.

Server replay time: 0h25m45s

Going into Tarzan Jethro goes wide and gets all four wheels off track. John takes the opportunity to make a pass which he is entitled to do. He holds his normal line whilst Jethro rejoins, again John is entitled to do this.
After consideration the contact, from which John emerges unscathed, is felt to be warp aggravated. It should be mentioned that, if all four wheels are off track, this technically constitues a rejoin and extra care must be taken.

Race seven already. In the Works top three, Hristo is holding off Lorenzo and Jethro. Meanwhile a battle royale is beginning to pan out between Rick and Al H in the Privateers. For those of you taking an early exit into the sand dunes carry on a mile down the road and rumour is there's a nudist beach. The multi-season update is worth a look in and you can also get the recently released waving flags. As usual please bear in mind there are a mixture of driver abilities and no second chances with Pro.

Race List = IGOR
Server = tbc  GamesclanT7_2 (please note we are currently using a server kindly provided by Fulvio)
IP address = tbc 62.149.202.168
Race date = 29-11-2009
Time = 21:00 UK time (21:00 GMT)
Track = Zandvoort
Variant = 67F1
Damage Model = PRO
Qualifying time = 35 minutes. Don't start until 30 mins left on clock to allow everyone to join.
Race length = 50 minutes (35 laps)

Password: see above

Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page
The track can be downloaded from : papy original
Add-on’s available at : http://srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=4220

Please be in IGOR UKGPL chatroom by 8:50 pm UK Time = GMT).

Reserve drivers should not join the server until there are only 30 minutes of qualifying left. Please restrict chat to pit messages. Moderating will be by reported incidents only, however the moderators reserve the right to review any incident with a particular emphasis on lap one. The aim is to review the race the following weekend so incident reports should be submitted within five days of the race (ie the following Friday). We're hopeful most incidents can be resolved amicably and recommend a days deep breath with a replay review before posting. A sorry in the forum won't be taken as an automatic admission of guilt by the moderators.

With the new token system chassis strategy will be a factor. A driver must have sufficient tokens for the chassis he drives in the race.  Any driver who does not have sufficient tokens will be disqualified from the result and his tokens will be set to zero.

Chassis costs;
Lotus 20 / Eagle 17 / Ferrari 15 / Brabham 10 / Cooper 5 / Honda 3 / BRM 0

To see your current tokens hover your mouse over your total points on the championship standings page. Ten tokens will be added when you cross the start line.

The Championship is split into two sub-divisions, namely Works and Privateers. The current driver split is;

Circuit Park Zandvoort is located in Burgemeester van Alphenstraat, near the town of Zandvoort in the Netherlands. The first street race was held on June 3, 1939. A real circuit was not built until after the war, based on communications roads built by the German army during its occupation in WW2. It was inaugurated on August 7, 1948. Next year the circuit hosted the Zandvoort Grand Prix. The following year, the race was called the Dutch Grand Prix, and it was included in the Formula One World Championship from 1952. It remained on the F1 calendar for 30 out of the next 34 years. In 1985, the Dutch Grand Prix was held for the last time. The company that commercially ran the circuit went out of business, marking the end of Circuit Zandvoort. A plan to save the remaining track was eventually made and Circuit Park Zandvoort was born, a 1.6 mile Club Circuit, in 1989.

Just to let you know if we need a separate grid for the Privateers we will give ukgpl6 another go - left it running for a while and all seemed ok.
IF there are problems again we have ukgpl5 on standby - thanks Mike.

Got 3rd, but was leading that for a good 16 laps or so when Hristo decided going off-track on the first lap was a stellar idea! From there I had a job keeping John behind me, but when I missed the braking point after the pedal stuck, it was doomed from the get go. As I rejoined keeping my car to the extreme left of the circuit, I knew he was on the inside, and he drifted straight into my car in an eerily familiar fashion. From there, I had a few more offs and another one which let Fulvio through. He'd also bested my fastest lap which I was desperately going for! 3rd is good out of 5 finishers I guess, but it could have and should have been more.

That was the worst driving I've done in a long time... very disappointed with myself.

Managed just 1 OKish qualifying lap that surprisingly was enough for pole (low turnout though), but after leading for a bit after the start I made one of many mistakes, dropping down to 6th or so.

After my teammates let me by, I had some hard chase of Phil, but he was having good exits and it was difficult to pass him. Eventually I went around the outside of the hairpin, but he didn't leave me enough room on the exit (or it was warp), and the contact sent me spinning.

After pushing way too hard afterward to make up the lost time, I spun under braking at T2 and got stuck into the fence. Race over!  Roll Eyes

Yes sorry about that H, I was enjoying racing you for a change.  Most of the time I just move over and let you by because you are lapping me!  I tried to drive defensively but fair, the power of the Lotus was my only defence and so I tried to take a defensive line on entry and get the power down early to get a good exit.  It was working well until I clipped the kerb at the esses and you were all over me at the hairpin.  I knew you were on the outside to I tried to keep tight and actually clipped the kerb.  I thought I'd given you enough room but we made warp contact (on my replay anyway).

Grats to the podium (nice to see JR and Jethro up there) and thanks to Fulvio for the server.

A separate note will follow re the Privates server (ukgpl6) suffice to say it will be practice only until the problem is sorted. Thanks to Mike for providing back-up via ukgpl5.

As regards the Privateers race the results will stand. The reduced laps were made clear in chat so we all started in the same boat. I can assure you the current server issues are being looked into and will be resolved shortly.

if I may point out the rules that this league uses for rejoining the track

https://www.ukgpl.com/index.php/rules/sporting

"Rejoining the race after an incident
It is the responsibility of any driver who is returning to the track to make sure they do not interfere with other drivers.

Rejoining drivers should stay off the racing line and give way to faster cars until they are fully up to speed. Rejoining drivers should not attempt to keep anyone behind them until they are fully up to speed. Any driver who rejoins a race and, owing to negligence, causes another car to crash or take severe avoiding action, will be penalised."

it's not a fashion we have been using these rules for years .

Well, I was on the track practicing right up to zero minutes left.  I saw very briefly in chat a comment like "we could just log on in order of qualy times".  I asked "whats up?"  Reply was "race length is 12 laps".  At this point the bottom right square went green and I clicked it not wanting to be left in the chat room talking to myself.  I was certain from the chat I saw that the race would be halted by who ever controlled the server.  So I started a 12 lap race with fuel for 35 laps.  Some may have had fuel for 12 laps.  How will we ever know what fuel load each driver had?  I mean really... we're going to let an impromptu 1/3 length sprint race count as the official points race?  What's so hard about doing a proper rerun?

BTW, Bernie, sorry for the side swipe at the start.  Though I had a good jump at the flag I was bumped from behind.  Could possibly have been a lag issue as the car behind me had an impossible surge (at least in my replay).
