Its ok Martin, you apologised immediately and I understand. Smiley

Sorry if I was not too gracious last night but I was incredibly dissapointed as it was my best race for a long time and was on for a good finish. I had a bit of a foot stamping kicking the cat exercise for a few minutes, never did like the cat much anyway! Grin (I am joking, well about kicking it, I've not liked it since it sat on my car)

Regards
Gary

I know what it's like to be on the receiving end too Gary which is why I was so frustrated with myself!

Hope the cat gets better soon!  Tongue

Meanwhile I know from TS that you're all waiting on the grid... clicked retire, to go out & come back in... only our session has now disappeared from the server list.
There's never any reason to retire from a live session unless you don't intend to come back to it. You keep the join button at the top until you do.
Having received multiple "can't connect to server" messages, I was desperate to try anything. What other options were available?

In true bird fashion, I consoled myself by polishing off a large bag of Doritos & a pot of Salsa dip Grin.

Started off really well and spent most of it chasing Ross but got too eager and having got a good run out of the second turn thought i'd try a risky pass but the moment i moved over Ross told said he'd let me by after! I was too busy trying to work out what he'd just said that while trying to think about what i was going to do that by the time i'd worked it realised it wasnt a good move i was going too fast and ended up straight in the wall! Handling after that was interesting as it liked to turn left! but iwas about a second off so wasnt too bad, i thought i'd leave it a few laps then tow back to the pits to get a new car. But I noticed it was going to fill the fuel up and couldnt work out how to untick the box so was sitting in the pits trying any key i could think of but ended up turning off the gear/ speed display. So exiting the pits i was trying to switch it back on without knowing what to press so i picked up a stop-go. Bit tentative on that lap but ended up going off in that banked 2nd-to-last corner and just decided to quit out in disgust.

After doing endless laps in the solstice, plus the radical, was getting a bit bored of the track but driving the skippy around here has shown just how difficult it can be as!

Strange how people seem to be only having FPS issues with this track, wonder if its something to do with the gradients and draw distance?

Reboot - you should be able to rejoin even after a reboot, even if the race has started, as long as you don't withdraw.

Not entirely sure why you rebooted your PC Legz? A restart of iR was all thats needed if your changing settings.

Sorry for the confusion there Spanner - seeing you were quicker I think I said something like 'go by after the next corner', but by then I could see you were trying a pass anyhow and saw that you ran wide in the confusion.  Apologies for that - shame as I think we'd have had a good race together.

Despite being a bit off the pace, I loved this - iRacing really is superb.  Despite my practice woes on Monday, I held it together pretty well for the race with just a single minor spin and a cut corner slow down coming out of the corkscrew.  Managed a good start and enjoyed the first few laps but had a bit of a lonely middle stint with the highlights being some dicing with Spanner and Brendan.  I could see that Brendan was way quicker but I couldn't resist making him work for the place Wink

For all those that haven't tried iRacing with a three screen set-up, you really should!  It really is amazingly cool if you have the room and the cost of doing it these days really isn't that bad at all.  It even beats using a 40" TV which I've tried but it wasn't as good because it's really the extended width you want with racing games.  My frame rate seemed to top out at 106 for the entire race I think, but I'd knocked the vertical resolution down to 768 (horizontal is 3072 with that) with the details just under half (I think).  A bit grainy at that resolution so I think an upgrade to my CPU and graphics card is due because this sim is definitely worth it (P&G/GTR2 just crashes online at high resolutions with three screens).

Watching the replay from the blimp is also very cool although for some reason my saved reply missed the first 7 laps - is there a 30 min limit on replay length?  Can it be changed?  Does anyone have a link to the full replay I can download?  I'd really like to watch the first few laps.

Well done to all the front runners - amazing pace, I'm just glad I didn't have to be lapped!

Hard luck on your troubles Legzy - very unfortunate.

Not sure I'm ready for the Indycar at RA yet mind you!

Cheers, Ross.

Spanner, use space bar to select/de-select your pit options.

I usually de-select everything when on the grid, waiting for the start.  I forgot to do this last night, and after my fast tow, was sat there wondering if the guy with the pit-board had been recruited from Ferrari's F1 team  Cheesy

Thanks, though i had setup the spacebar for chat! Think i need to sort out that joytokey thingy to assign it to the wheel. Though i have the tow command set to the wheel..

Until the new display port thingy comes popular isnt the TH2G thing the only way of doing it?

Laguna was one of the original iRacing tracks, I wonder if they've got better at optimising along the way?

Secondly to Simon.  After the T1 incident with Simmo my steering was off to the left.  I lost the back end under braking and was a passenger from that point onwards.  Looking at the replay, it was a real bonehead move.  Really sorry. Embarrassed

Rob saved a replay for me so I could have a watch again. I must say it shows it as an excellent attempt at a rally style Shark take-down. Wink Full marks for style. laugh

I was unable to do anything about it once you were rally crossing across the dirt as it was already too late for me to change my position or braking, otherwise I would have let you sail on through and into the barrier on your own. Kiss

Cod happens. Smiley Laguna is not on my favorite circuits list anyway, it looks like it should be good and it looks good, but I can't help but dislike it for some reason. Maybe it's one of those 'marmite' circuits.
