no once its happened it stays at that low fps without regaining. So even if i quit out and rejoin its instantly at 22fps. Odd.

where is the replay memory override setting? Worth a try.

It's in an .INI file somewhere near the replays and setups.

If the FPS stays low over a leave-rejoin then it's unlikely to be iRacing itself - you need to get the performance monitor up when you experience the problem to see what's happening. If something's eating all the memory you need to be able to see what's causing all the paging (the symptoms are very much those of memory thrashing).

okay mine says this :-

CacheSize=4194304

what should i make it?

any other gfx settings that i should zonk down? Got shadows off. Though when i tried reducing all gfx it had no effect on the frames the other night.

when i alt tab out and check 'performance' my 2gb ram is split under 'physical memory' as : available=80242, system cache= 957252 approx. cpu usage only 42%.

Under gfx settings in game i have 'Utilizable texture memory'= 400mb what should that be for a 9800gtx card ?

Dave was referring to this:

replayMemoryOverride=0                     ; Kbytes of replay memory to use

set it to something low but not 0

I've set up a hosted practice session to help test this.

You could start with 10 - you won't get more than a couple of seconds of replay but it's a good testing point.

Got a few laps in today and am running consistent low 1.40's with a best of 1.40.062,  its amazing how quick the car feels once youve sussed out the car and can keep the momentum up. Smiley

I dunno how you guys are doing it, I am having a nightmare with this car  Huh

It handles the exact opposite of how I want to drive, the result of which is that I'm having to concentrate so hard on just driving the car, that I feel I can't safely race it. Sad

MONDAY PRACTICE - 7PM
If anyone is interested, i'm going to put a server up for anyone to practice on.

Is it best to have a password on, or shall I just leave it off?
