GTR Rookies Night

To try and get more of our nearly 200 members involved in online races, this is a series of non championship fun races for people who haven't raced before online in UKGTR. A few regulars will be needed to attend to answer any questions (probably taking slow cars) and make sure things run normally, but fast regulars are asked to not attend as this is targeted at getting more drivers involved and this is an opportunity to get some online experience in UKGTR with like minded gentlemenly racers.

Date: Wednesday 5th October

Practice 1: 8:00pm (45 mins)
Qual 2: 8:45pm (15 mins)
Warmup: 9:00pm (2 mins)
Race: 9:02pm (20 mins) - 3 races of 20 mins depending on how people feel.

Track: Barcelona
Weather: Dry

Password: rookie

As one of the slower drivers that races on regular basis I'm more than happy to offer my services for this initiative. I think the more members we get racing online the healthier the competition will become for everyone. This could also allow us to have more evenly matched divisions with proper promotion/ relegation battles going on.

Although down as a full time GT Endurance driver I would like to be there to attempt to fix my game issues and see if my jigging about has improved my frame rate.

One could also argue given my races to date that I need the practice!!!

Good initiative!   Count me in,I can use some practice, and getting to know some of my fellow backmarkers at the same time  Grin
More fun then practicing alone imo.

The time has come for each and everyone, to decide if you're gonna be part of the problem, or part of the solution.........!!

Hi Bobo,

I think RaceMore is deserted, Just join using the ingame lobby. you'll find it called something beginning with "UKGTR". Like "UKGTR New Members" or "UKGTR Endurance D2 - Spa" or something.

Good luck with the Racing.

Fozzmeister

PS. Is take it there is a password for this race? Is it the one listed in https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=44.0? As we are trying to get new members, best to re-supply this.

Great initiative and just what i've been looking for. Have been playing in-game single player championships to get adept at all the circuits and have been looking to delve into the world of online racing with similar 'decent' racers. Count me in !

U need to get those Dennis Taylor glasses on Fozz, the password's in the race annoucement post.

The server will be called UKGTR Rookie Night (if that fits) and will be in the ingame lobby. Nobody uses Racemore as it's pointless and unreliable. All aids will be off as usual (except auto clutch).

For all the rookies, please please please, read the UKGTR rules and driving standards stuff, this is all for fun, but it's not arcade racing we except a certain level of driving standard (note standard not speed, you can be as slow or fast as you are in UKGTR). Link here...
https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?pid=7

Don't over drive, if you are slow don't worry just be consistent, don't try ambitious overtakes, try to be courteous. If there are incidents, it will have been an accident so try not to shout and throw accusations around. The other party probably just made a mistake and you can talk it out. We're all nice people here. Wreckers are not tolerated and will be banned.

It's likely that I will be in game to keep an eye on proceedings and do anything necessary with the server etc. I probably wont race but if I do I'll take a really slow car.

First one in lobby please setup a private chatroom called UKGTR, usual practice password which is our standard password which will get you into most stuff other than championship races and some specials like this race.
