Moderator's Report

A win for John closes the gap to championship leader Hristo with Jethro close behind.

Server replay time: 0h25m45s

Going into Tarzan Jethro goes wide and gets all four wheels off track. John takes the opportunity to make a pass which he is entitled to do. He holds his normal line whilst Jethro rejoins, again John is entitled to do this.
After consideration the contact, from which John emerges unscathed, is felt to be warp aggravated. It should be mentioned that, if all four wheels are off track, this technically constitues a rejoin and extra care must be taken.

Yes, I know I should have lifted, but it is also the responsibility of the overtaking driver to move cleanly.

Works both ways y'know. Wink

i was past you cleanly , whats your point?

john
You weren't past cleanly, otherwise you wouldn't have hit me. Grin

i didn't hit you .. you hit me .

My replay clearly shows you aiming your car to go to the outside of the corner. Had you actually stayed to the right-hand side of the track, I'd have let you through anyway since you had the racing line to the corner after the kink. The exit you had from the first corner wouldn't have harmed your speed on the short straight after it if you'd kept a tight line.

Having said that, you also made the assumption that I wouldn't be in the space of tarmac you were trying to occupy, otherwise you wouldn't have gone there in the first place. Wink

JR, Jethro

Please submit an incident report and we'll sort this out through the proper channels.  Although I haven't looked at the server replay, I did review the entire race between you two on my client replay (last night immediately after the race) and on that there was only warp contact; but we need the server and both your client replays to determine the actual effect of any warp.  The rules are comprehensive but they are not infallible and hence the need for moderation.  A rational and impartial review is alway necessary in unusual or borderline cases, this may be one of them.  In most borderline cases there has to be a little give and take on both sides.

As an aside (it wasn't an incident so it won't be reported so I'm not preempting a ruling) a few laps later Jethro did a similar thing and lost a place to Fulvio after having spun putting too much power down on the exit of Tarzan.  Jethro's rejoin, where he gave Fulvio the racing line on the entry to Gerlachbocht, was exemplary.  It was in a place where the racing line doesn't hug the kerb though.

I'll do it tomorrow evening when I hopefully have my glasses back from repair. Smiley

Just noticed I was the leading Waza in this race. I was NOT expecting that.  Shocked

I don't think it's productive to get into a drawn out debate as to the results standing but I did not make an arbitrary decision.

Not wanting to drag the debate too much further either but let me make one final suggestion.  Can we award partial points as is done in real F1 for a shortened race?  Say... 1/3 normal points since it was 1/3 a normal race.  Or maybe 1/2 normal points.  That would ease the pain for those down the chart while still letting the front runners make some gains.

I know it sounds like an 'it was warp not me your honour' excuse but I think in this case, it was, not being helped by a tight grid. I am obviously sorry it happened, if you want to submit a report it will of course be moderated by someone else.

I definitely think it was warp.  In my replay your car lurched forward in a totally impossible manner.  I wish I could get that kind of a jump!

Cheers Tim. Smiley

Phil, I trust you have the server replay? Do you still need the respective clip to compare client and server replay?

My instinct is there's warp, but I cannot be sure because the camera angles don't show it very well.
