Moderator's Report

A blistering Pole time from Bartosz showed that he peaked too early and during the race he spent the time overtaking his team mates while shouting "Watch this spin!"

Another high qualifier forced into a recovery drive following mishaps was John Roberts who thought Bartosz tricks were childish at best and just got on with it.

The Hondas ran well here and it is rumoured that they only spent around 75% of the lap sideways, but it is just that I'm afraid, a rumour, probably started by Jethro who sat this one out on the nudist beach where he was surprised to be joined by Clutch in full racing trim and smelling faintly of hot oil.

We're off down under next time out and can I remind people that the Stag Hotel is not a knocking shop, much to our chagrin.

UKGPL Season 18 (2009) Amateurs Trophy (65) - Round 7 - Zandvoort

The seventh race of the season is at Zandvoort.  The track is located in Burgemeester van Alphenstraat in the dunes north of the town of Zandvoort in the Netherlands.  In all, 32 grand prix races were held there between 1948 and 1985.  Unfortunately part of the circuit was sold off in the late 1980s to make way for a housing development, although the main start and finish straight and pit area was retained.  A revised circuit is still in use today but sadly not by the Formula 1 cars.

The restriction that reserve drivers should not join the race server until there are only 30 mins of qualifying left is being relaxed for this race.  We have enough grid slots to accomodate all the full-time and reserve drivers so there is no risk of a reserve driver taking a full-time driver's grid slot.

Having joined the server, no drivers should go out on track until there is 30 minutes of qualifying left - this helps to ensure all the full-time drivers have joined the server successfully before qualifying begins.

Restrict chat to pit messages, and at the end of the race avoid chat until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

Please be in the IGOR UKGPL chatroom by 8:55 p.m.

In fact, the grand prix circuit used today isn't shorter than the original track. According to Circuit Park Zandvoort's official home page, the original track was 4193 meters long, while today's grand prix circuit is 4300 meters long. The modern track is more twisty, though. Smiley / Sad

A nice track that I know and love.

bit worried about the pace though, is a 1:30 gonna cut it, cos I qualify right at the back against the computer AI cars.

Should be fun.

I have been around there in the past and I am around there now somewhere which means the front runners will be up the road and gone.

it wasn't run in 65s last season but here is Season 16s thread.

Shame I'm suspended for this, I love the track. Go well here in almost any car. I distinctly remember that S16 race for the "wasp-in-a-jam-jar" engine noise the 16V V8 Climax engine had.

Wrong, GP lenght would be 90 laps indeed, so 45 laps for the race? It would be a long race  Shocked

I hope next season race lengths would be reconsidered. Makes no sense to me (as I've said before) for the Amateurs division to have such long races while Graduates and Historic are much shorter (15-20 mins sometimes).

Posted on both race threads

I have made some changes to ukgpl6 and would like to run a short test race after the Amateurs finishes. Say Monza, Int-Short, 15 mins qually.
If any of you can hang around for a bit after the main event and help test, it would be much appreciated. Ideally we need more then ten to check it properly.

When I eventually get round to starting a mid season review thread, this will be one of the topics.  And yes to my preference would be for 50 min races max (I prefer standard long races to be honest, the race result is usually decided by then) but it is the decision of the divisional mod hopefully influenced by the majority opinion of the drivers.

Note:  Jack was going to be the mod for this series and it was his preference to have the longer races.  As you know Mike had to step in when Jack had to retire and it was too late to change the rules.

Yes you are right Fulvio, for some reason the default was set to 80 in my .ini file when I calculated the race distance.  When it was noticed I checked in GEM using the season editor and the default is indeed 90.  I chose not to amend the post as it was a genuine mistake and it would just create confusion.  Hopefully most people wouldn't complain about a slightly shorter race anyway (I know H wouldn't Wink).

Drivers note:   It all depends what Fulvio has set in the server (we can't change that remotely) so make sure you check the race length when you join!

I'm so sorry guys! :'(

I was just driving normally when the screen suddenly went black! I tried to hit everything I could to get me away from the track. I'm so sorry if somebody did hit to my car. :'(
