GPFun: 90 points
UKGPL: 15

Please double check the result, but I think it's fine.
Only Hristo scored for UKGPL, I believe.

Grats to all at GP Fun for giving us a lesson in driving  Undecided and to Hristo for at least finishing fo Ukgpl.

Until Friday evening I had never even seen this circuit before, and at first I must confess I did not like it!! I quickly got my times down to 2:47 and thought with more practice I might get somewhere around the 2:43??. Real life intervened and i was not able to look at the track again until I joined the server ( I was late, sorry Luca and the rest of you but things got in the way here!! ) just before the race.

At the start I had to throw myself onto the grass when Al braked  for T3 much harder and earlier than I was expecting  Undecided, that dropped me to last place. From then on I was learning the circuit and gradually adding faster sectors on Prib as I began to understand the correct lines through some of the critical corners. I picked up places as cars retired, unfortunately they were all UKGPL cars!!!

Just as I was beginning to feel confident, having made no mistakes or contact with those wicked concrete cones, and with about 9 laps to go, I somehow blew the engine  Angry

Many thanks to Luca and the guys at GP Fun, maybe Sebring is not too bad after all..it just needs a little understanding like the rest of us.

Merry Christmas to all at GPFun punk

Not guilty Clive Cool Just watched the replay & it was A Tendas who braked early in front of you at the start. When you mentioned it in chat I naturally assumed it was me as I do brake earlier than most but later I realised I started behind you on the grid so was wondering how on earth I managed to be braking in front of you. The only time you were behind me in the race was on lap 1 & I let you past without incident at the esses.

Apolgies Al, in all the excitement at the start I thought it was you. So I will put it down to some early brake testing by the opposition   Roll Eyes lol. , but it might have been just the number of cars filtering into T3  Wink
I was just relieved that I managed to avoid any contact that might have ended anyone's race prematurely.

That seems to be correct Luca, congrats to GPFun (again, we'll 'ave ya next time, swear to gods Grin) on a dominant win. Hopefully somewhere more popular for the rematch.

Hopefully somewhere more popular for the rematch.

I didn't want to get on the subject, but the "more popular" problem could have been raised when we picked the track, not on race day   Smiley
Personally I also don't agree with the idea of not racing on a track "because I don't like it", but everybody is different (luckily!).

You (UKGPL) had no training while we were familiar with the track. The result could only be one-sided, unfortunately.
Clearly I misunderstood the approach behind these races, but at least we can adjust for the future.  Smiley

At this stage, it's more pertinent to say that I wasn't involved with organising the track or date for it, Phil Thornton was doing all that. I just advised on cars and tried to get as many suckers into them.

Just outta curiosity, when was the circuit/date decided upon?

It turned out I knew the track from our last outing there in oAo, but I didn't remember the braking and turn-in points well. It turned out I was late for the race too, in fact joined when Qualifying was just over. Those earlier starts really catch me off-guard.

Anyway, I had a good start and was up a few spots immediately, and some more after people were going left and right off the track for whatever reason.

It took longer than expected to remember where I have to brake and what gear to take some corners at, and that resulted in a couple of poles clipped and a few spins.

Apart from that I was progressing well up the grid and it appeared I was the fastest among our group, around 6th position. My mistakes were costly though and that allowed the front runners to build up a huge gap. Otherwise I think I might've had a pace to challenge for victory.

On the second to last lap I noticed my fuel pressure was dropping and despite short-shifting it began to splutter on the final lap and so I had to give up 3rd place. JUST managed to hold onto 4th though and ran out of fuel as we crossed the line. Not bad after all the troubles. It's funny though, because I ran out of fuel in my oAo race on this track as well, lol.  Roll Eyes

Grats to GPFun on a dominant victory and rather disappointed to see our team in half and retiring early on. Personally I really like the track and the racing it provides. Although the track has long straights, it really is a driver's track too, so chassis handicap isn't that great.

Cheers,

-=Hristo=-

Bye,
Luca

Although the track was new to me , I cannot say that I was at a greater disadvantage. It was posted some time ago and if things in real life had not conspired to occupy my time I might have been better prepared.
I think different tracks add extra interest and challenge, but i know there are some who prefer to race on papyrus tracks only..which is a shame when there are so many circuits out there.
