Moderator's Report

A debut for Adelaide in the 65s and it was generally considered a success despite the very tricky cambers and all too real slippery surface. There were nice battles right through the field and some incredible lap times.

Jethro's move from Clark-Hill to the Wazas proved to be a successful one first time out with a great Pole time, and contrary to rumours the door did not in fact hit his arse on the way out.

Hristo tried in vain to match Jethro's Pole Time but had a healthy lead when he attempted his barrel roll on the straight and crashed out.

The last 2 rounds of the championship see a return to more familiar ground and the high speed arenas of Silverstone and Monza.

I'm not twisting the facts. I was gonna let you through there anyway, I'd made my mind up going through Markets turn. Was a bit fed up of the 16v Climax. Made a bit of a fight of it though. Wink Quite how you were able to brake so late made me wonder what bias you were running to make the car so stable. I managed 3 consecutive screwups at the hairpin due to late braking when the car spun.

Just as a global FYI: the 2 valves per cylinder Climax engine developed so much power that Climax had a job getting the 4v-p-c version up to the same power rate and beyond. GPL supposedly models it with 13 more hp than the 2v-p-c engine. Not a lot in the scheme of things. Smiley

Heh, well I got the slipstream and went for it, and you tried to go around the outside - didn't look like letting go to me.  Wink

I was running 50 bb, lol. I half-spun a couple of times in Qualifying, and nearly so in the race. It was tricky to judge the distance on full tanks early on, but as the race progressed I got near my favorite tree braking marker on the right (the next tree after the big tree  Grin ). As long as you don't turn in too early while you're still on the brakes, it won't spin, so it's better to go wide a bit but preserve speed and direction.

In any case, the Brabham is easy to throw in a slide and counter-steer it near the apex. Nothing like the Honda in 67s on Sunday, heh.

Have just been released from Adelade nick - aparently they don't take kindly to people burning the haybales post race.....

Aside from the dastardly plan instigated by the round eyes of fitting a powerfull electro-magnet to the bales outside Racetrack corner, I was pleased with my efforts. Was even forcing Jethro to be honest for a few laps, then the G/F decided she'd wander past behind me and I lost concentration and span  :'(
Still I reasoned - 2nd is still 2nd and I have a healthy gap to the 3rd position car.

With 3 to go on Prib I think I was approaching 40 seconds clear of 3rd when I somehow lost it and slid in to the evil round eye trap - I was just beginning to consider that maybe I was proper stuck when the front wheel popped back out of the hay!  Shocked
Followed a few seconds later by the rear wheel  Grin
Much thrashing of gear sticks, pedals, and steering wheel insued as I manhandled the Waza back towards the safety of the tarmac - Just in time to have to back off to let JR and Fulvio by as I was unable to safely get back on the track infront of them Sad

Still. 4th still gives me a damn good shot at winning the championship over all so I can't complain too much.

Onward to Slitherstone!  angel

... and I let Hristo through in the hairpin after 7 or 8 laps.

Jethro, don't twist the facts - I passed you, you didn't let me through. Smiley

Now, now team mates. She will not be pleased.

SHE probably will be actually Mike, SHE runs the team much as Enzo did - only more harshly - encouraging infighting and out-and-out competitiveness at every opportunity  Grin

Before every race I have to check for Scorpions in my race shoes (Hristo), drawing pins in the drivers seat (Evilclive), Loose wheel nuts (the Glutbuckets), presense of brake fluid (my own pit crew), and now I also have to check for a full compliment of sparkplugs aswell! (Jethro)  Roll Eyes
Not to mention the time I found my steering wheel had been removed 2 minutes before lining up for a race start once, on HER orders  scared

Sometimes I consider signing for the red cars just to make life that little bit easier...  :'(

As a plus point, it's nice that I got my first proper win fair and square this time, seemingly without incident. I thought the battle(s) between myself and Hristo, then Tim, were very good. Position the car right and brake correctly and it's incredibly difficult to overtake here, as Frentzen found out to his cost in the real deal in 1995 whilst taking 3 laps trying to lap a certain M Blundell's McLaren. Back to back races without a reported incident?

This will be declared a result tomorrow.
