Chris is referring to my opinion on it.
I've heard/read it from others too, you're not alone.
Tons of grip until you have to pull yourself out a barrier because the grip suddenly ran out.

And much, much easier than the Lotus 79. laugh
Yeah, I've multiple reports of the Lotus being very tough too. I'm eligible for promotion to my B-licence now which means I could drive the lotus next season, but at the moment... I think I'll just continue to get to grips with some of the 'lesser' cars, gaining experience towards what are the hardest cars to tame (apparently Wink). I'm enjoying the Radical at the moment too, not to mention the Speccy & Skippy.

I am also thinking of purchasing the Silverado with a couple of eggs, Blunder is having way too much fun in that for my liking Cheesy.

Just bough the car and done two laps. Oo err surrender

It feels far too stiff, no visual clues from the suspension or tyres moving around like the skippy. I think you need a PhD to understand the setup!

Ooo err indeed  Smiley The massive amount of grip and speed is bit of a change up isn't it. And this Watkins has much less banking than I was led to believe by GTL and GTR. Surprisingly, I found it much easier to keep on track than skippy but, has been mentioned, thats well be low its limits at 1.36 pace. When you get near its limits there are, for me, little clues and you can adjust but it does happen fast and think, maybe wishfully, I can get it to "move" a bit, especially under braking.

Did I mention it was ruddy fast, rather intoxicating. Nice  Smiley

On the downside, whats with the sound :'(

After watching them on TV, their sound is spot-on.  Turbo V8's aren't they?

The ChampCars were but the IndyCars use a naturally aspirated V8.

Had a quick go in this last night - certainly fun, but not sure I'll enjoy driving it as much as cars like the Skip or Spec - I prefer to drive something that can be driven beyonds its limits, even if it's more slowly.

Early days though.  I can imagine that races in these on ovals must be great fun - any chances of an SROU oval race at some point?

Cheers, Ross.

Had a go and I'm a bit miffed 'cause I can't lower the rear wing. Whenever I go under 49 deg in jumps right back. Is it minimum 49 deg, or what? Huh

Hmm.. whats the secret here? Huh

Thought i'd start with the medium road course setup, a basic understeery setup in my hands but can barely get under 1.40. The speed is deceptive so i'm probably just going in too fast. Seems like its completely diferent to the skippy, doesnt lock up instantly and doesnt need a touch of throttle under braking.

The default setups are very tight. If you look in the thread for our recent Road America race you will see a link to a setup which will open it up a bit, but it is still very friendly! You might need to tweak it a bit but it will be a good starting point.

Sorry, it was over in the iRacing forum.

Well, I've bought the Indycar and  Shocked it's an absolute monster.

Could anyone point me in the direction of a reasonably forgiving setup.  I've downloaded a few different sets and they all feel like I'm driving on a knife edge.  I'm especially struggling with the back end on braking into corners and snap oversteer on the way out of corners.

Can't really say I'm enjoying it so far  Sad

I haven't tested much but the Russel Hodgson v6 setup from this thread seems very easy to drive. I tried a quick run with full fuel and it seems to take it without the need for further adjustment.

brilliant cheers Ken, i also found some other setups from him including one for Watkins, though they all seem quite similiar. With a bit of rebound on and reduction of castor which i hate and just makes it harder to turn the wheel i've changed it from an upper body workout to a car i can drive without tiring me out! Now down to 37.1 and i'm sure i can go quicker as i'm not convinced on my lines especially coming off the boot and through the last corner and also into that first chicane as i recon you could probably attack the first half without braking Wink Cheesy

I'll join for practise but will decide then if actually race or not. I'm not feeling alot of love for this infact i'm starting to think this is hardly an inclusive event for everyone if i cant even keep it on the track for a couple of laps. Bar Humbug Sad
