If only we had a hint moments before the race, that the weather was likely to get better, worse or stay the same whistling

what you mean....like a weather forecast ?  Roll Eyes   Wink

Rain or shine, Magny is a challenging track, should be fun.  Smiley

I've no idea what "60" means Huh It says overcast for tonight which, surely, makes it dry? (Please)
This is my interpretation if it helps you:
It's done on a scale of 0 to 100.
0 to 61 = Sunny to Cloudy (I think Wink)
61 to 74 = Damp
75 to 87 = Wet
88 to 100 = Storms

Race start was dry and since I felt that slicks were faster then inters in the qualy I started on med slicks.

Few laps into the race and it starts raining pretty hard. Still damp but I was all over the place. SBG had no problems, you were on inters?

While entering the pits I spinned into the tyre wall (wacko), fitted inters and fueled up again. But the inters felt just as terrible actually...

So what is the tyre of choise? Guess most were on inters.. or not Roll Eyes

Weather was just ok this week. Did all of qually on soft slicks. Was on pole for quite a while, but knew it wouldn't last ended up 4th on the grid I think.

Start looked pretty dry so took the safe bet of medium slicks front and rear.

Dunno what happened at the start but Hal just pulled over from pole and we all went whizzing through. So up to third straight away.

Chased Berger and Gazza for the podium positions, but was never close enough to have an overtaking battle. Pit stops came and i came in just behind McFids in his Z4. He was very slow into the pits and even slower through the pit lane (not using limiter?) Left me a little flustered and hadn't got my engine stopped or anything for pulling into my pit box. Put on a new set of tyres and 74 litres of fuel. Was really slow pressing ENTER to do the pit stop so lost a bit of time there. Then on the out lap I was coming up to Jure and he lost it whacked the wall and then came spinning across the track. I broke very hard but he ESC out, another few seconds lost. LOL.

Medium slicks worked better in the second stint as there was not much dampness and set the fastest lap fairly near the end when Gazza was chasing me hard forcing me to drive faster! Damn him LOL. After being 25 seconds behind Berger after the pit stops had worked themselves out that was down to 8 seconds at the end, but it was never going to be enough. Finished with just over a litre of fuel so judged that to perfection. sweatdrop

That was almost a dry race for a change, certainly no problem running slicks the whole race.

Very pleased with 2nd position, makes the championship very tight indeed I reckon and well done to Berger. Now I just need Jon to come back so we can have a go at the team championship.

P.S. Just to re-iterate Eddie Meyer you were warping very badly the whole race for everyone. Looked like the classic wireless connection warp to me. It was certainly dangerous lapping you. Sorry.

Yep, agreed and shame. Thems the rules for this season, Ive registered my complaints and I'm just getting on with it and I promise not to gripe about anymore angel (cwap just broke my promise there Wink)

I went with med slicks Jimmie and they were fine. I was a little surprised to find them worn at end of long 1st stint and I had to change them (or maybe they were just cold?).

Has to be said that standards were far better than Oschers and congrats to all. Nice to see a full server again and some old faces return Smiley

Weather was tolerable, problem I have is that I can't tell whether it's wet or not untill I slide off somewhere maybe because of the low detail I run to get a decent frame rate, dunno, but I lost count of the times I fell off just moving over
to let GT1s through and the car would not get round... into the gravel again and again .... Other than my lack
of pace weather was no big deal.  Had some fun towards the end trying to catch Dave, was slowly eating into
his lead, but was trying very hard and got a stop and go, which brought Spanner up right behind me for the last lap
Appologies if I was not as easy to lap in the later laps as in the 1st half, but having fell off so many times and as
I was trying to catch Dave, you gonna have to work for it at least a bit  Smiley

Apologies to all for my warping  Embarrassed. You're right, I was connected via Wlan. Will fix that for the next race.

That was a classic endurance race  Smiley it had all the drama, battles at different points of the race, fuel and tyre management, varying weather conditions, and best of all, a race right to the flag  Cool

Qually wrong footed me with the damp conditions, really didnt suit my reasonably stiff setup and i was well off my pbs and was quite shocked to find myself 5th or 6th GTC as could do 39's in the dry.

It was a tough call what tyres to take at start of race with my setup menu saying 'raining' and monitor saying dry with rain forecast. Went with slicks.
Race was good fun from the lights with several GTC's all in a close gaggle but within a few laps the top 5 or 6 of us had opened about an 8 sec gap over the following pack and that set the tone for the rest of the night.
After a couple of guys had offs i was soon in a strong fight for 2nd and 3rd with the two Z4m Boys in Mcfids and Prof ahead.
It took a long chase to finally close down Mcfids and then when he left a door open on the hairpin exit, i got a good run up the inside following a GT1 car and got past  Smiley I was expecting a strong comeback fight but his challenge faded quite quickly and he dropped back within a few laps to about 8 seconds behind Huh
Next target was Prof for 2nd place (ginsters was long up the road in his GT1/GTC hybrid  Grin ) and i set about reeling him in. But prof had the racing gods with him tonight and everytime i closed the gap to 1-2 seconds, a gaggle of GT1 cars would catch us and put a decent gap between us taz
It was a great battle with Prof driving his socks off to stay ahead. He pitted one lap ahead of me with me right on his bumper, but i didnt have a great lap on worn tyres and low fuel and when i emerged from my stop, he steamed back past with a 3 sec lead  Sad
Again i reeled him and got it down to about 1.5-2 secs but i made my only spin of the night when i tried to hurry myself up out the way of team mate TT in his GT1 at the 2nd hairpin  Hit with a wet fish lost about 5 seconds  Sad
That was all Prof needed but i chased him very hard to the end for the last 20minutes but he kept a 3 sec lead over me on the final laps. I finished 3rd on the pody  Smiley
Top fight Prof ! thumbup1

Well done to Ginsters for his win in the sleek looking and very fast Kerbies Spkyer and Berger for the GT1 win  Cool

Race results have just been published on this thread. Series details link is at the top of this page: Click on U11 under series or just click this: https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=231&theme=3

I enjoyed tonight's race and it never quite rained hard enough to make me want to change tyres. I had an excellent battle with MJ at the end of my first stint and all the way through the second half of the race where he was only ever a handful of seconds behind and seemed a bit faster on laps with no GT1s, I was kept working hard right to the end miles behind SbG as usual (Great pace as always, Sir!).
Well done to the GT1 podiums and all GT1 drivers whose lapping was excellent tonight.

Awesome race.! Cheesy

Good job Gazza said he was using dry tyres on TS as I was considering inters thinking that it would rain very near the start of the race going on what it said for current conditions. After he said that I changed my mind. It did say rain for everyone else, yes?

I messed up at the start by hitting headlights instead of pit limiter and then limiter on and off and then on again (at least it was not my engine starter button this time, lol). Quick thinking by Gazza saved a pile up of epic proportions. Sorry all.

I almost collided from out braking myself more than once in the race, sorry simon and MJ.

1st to 10th on the first lap just like Oscherslaben.  Roll Eyes Many great battles after that including a very long fight with API, nice. Cool

I also had great scraps with Legzy, Jose, nsfast and a few others.

Classic moment of the race for me was when I followed berger as he overlapped API, jose and nsfast all fighting in the last 10 mins or so of the race. That ended up in quite a big tussle. Faaaantastic! Grin

Well done podiums.
