I am not here on thursday so can't race, but I did some test laps in a few cars with 10 or so laps of fuel.
914  -  1.36.2
It was absolutely a good lap Paul! I went down to a 1.38.3 this evening... 37 is surely possible for me, but I don't see any chance of getting a 1.36.2 with the 914!
Are you sure that was not a report mistake?!?  Tongue

I have added the Corvette L88 Coupe to the race announcement... for anyone that way inclined. Lips Sealed

Cheers
Chris

p.s. We will definitely be having a 914 only spec race scheduled in this season, should that info help any of the fastest drivers choose not to take it at Dubai this time. Smiley

Fraid not. The 914 is so much more eager to turn in that it gains big chunks of time in the twisty bits compared to the others.

did a 1:38 in the 914 myself last night. Really enjoy the feisty little euro rocket and Dubai is one of my fave racing track layouts with its smooth flow  Cool

Dubai....vintage car racing  Huh where did that spring from? Seems an odd choice but will be there all the same. Not so keen on using modern circuits for P&G.

Lol Put MJ in the L88 and you might get a third opinion from him Wink Its not great around here but much nearer the 914, if not Pauls 914. Ta Legzy.

I've managed a 39.8 in the L88 Coupe. (on hub caps and door handles)

Not something I could keep up all race but I do like going down the straight that fast.  Grin

It will be interesting to go back to the 914 and see if the experience has taught me anything about getting around the circuit in general.

The Lotus might come into its own if the bigger beasts start running out of rubber.

I ran a few laps in the Penske L88 and the standard 289 Coupe. This track isn't friendly to the big beasts. The Cobra turned in better, but didn't have the legs. The Penske L88 wouldn't turn for cod, but rocketed down the short straight. I'll probably find a happy middle with the Willment Cobra. 1:38's in Penske and 1:43's in 289 Cobra. I expect 40's from Willment.

Amend your above post for the 'rude' word please Mike.

A popular substitute we use here for 'rude' words, is to substitute in a "fish" name (i.e. The L88 wouldn't turn for haddock). With minimum thought, you'll find there really are some quite apt/satisfying names out there Grin

Thanks

Roll Eyes you lot are so predictable  Wink  to quantify...i love the Dubai track, always enjoyed great races there in the modern GT cars that we've raced. I also love the P&G 914. It just so happens that this turns out a great track for P&G, but i'm still not personally keen on using modern circuits for it, but if the racings great, who cares !
This ones a winner, good choice Legz and Tony  Kiss

ps had a very quick crack with the L88 but way much prefer the euro finesse of the 914, the L88s just too hard work here for me to enjoy it.

Very fair, however last races I only saw the fastest drivers chose the faster cars (which is fair also,
they are selectable). As for me and I don't want to blow my own trompet (I hope this setence is right) Grin
I will not chose the 914, the 275 neither the L88 (the supposed faster cars). I have spent last season
trying not to chose the faster cars or the ones that would suit better to each kind of track,
but if this season, the faster drivers carry on on chosing faster cars, I'm affraid I will begin to make
the same choice.  Smiley
Anyway, sometimes I wonder myself if Tokens weren't a good option...

Why afraid to make that choice? Choose what you want  Smiley I haven't done that in the past and, frankly, I'm looking forward to doing it now.

The L88 and 275 are the only choices that put me level-ish with the 914 pilots I want to race so I'll be in the L88.

Race prediction

The L88 and 914 seem quite close on lap times but barring a massive shunt or some of Legzy’s “special” weather I see this race as a massive L88 battle at the front with a swarm of 914s in close attendance.  I think that a good driver in a Coupe L88 will win and since I have tried driving the thing I think he will deserve to.  Always supposing that he still has some vestige of rubber on the front left corner.

It might depend who gets to T1 first and I just have no way of predicting this other than to say that it will not be me.  The Cobras may be able to mess things up for everyone here.

I would love to drive the L88 but thus far I do not have the consistency.  If there are three or four L88s at the front then a 914 is going to struggle to get past them.  Even if he gets past the first one at T1, the 914 driver isn’t going to do the lap any faster than the next L88 in front of him.  That will mean that the next time down the straight the previously passed L88 will breeze back past again.

As I said, I would love to drive the L88. ;-)

Hope we see some 275's in that mix as I'm sure its on the same pace. If there aren't any, I'm not afraid to take the "girly" option and use it. As with last week, the power/handling balance here has potental Smiley
