Thanks to Billy for organising these two races
.
It allowed the refugees from the aborted Interleague race to vent their pent up adreneline in the fun 65's.
The Cooper I was driving dragged me alongside Hristo's Bt7 off the line and compromised his line through T1. It also gave me the inside into T2 which forced H wide and onto a slower run around the outside of the bend. I missed the incident that caused Hristo, John and Bob ( ?) Whitewell to vanish half way around L1 and from then on it was a cruise to the flag. I suspect that it might have been different if they had stayed in contention, a fact which was confirmed in the second race...
Now H had the Cooper off the line and I had the BT7, but I managed to sneak into his slipstream on the run up to T1 and hold that position for the 1st lap. The tow made all the difference as I was easily able to stay with H even if I made small mistakes through some bends and drag myseolf back onto his tail on the next straight.
On a couple of occasions I managed to poke my nose alongside or past, but once out of the tow there was just not enough grunt to complete the pass.
Our squabbling allowed Bob (? or Ben?) to close up and towards the end of the race it was becoming a 3 way dice.
with 2 laps to go I got a better run than H out of the last turn and the slingshot up the inside of T1. It seems that H's computer chose this moment to go into denial and remove all evidence of any competitors from his screen. He turned in blissfullly unaware that I was fully alongside and as with things warp connected the car on the outside came off worst. At the time, I was not sure if I had been at fault ( although of course I doubted that I could have made such an error
) so, I waited for H to recover this allowed B.Whitwell ( what is your name!!??) to take the lead and H to pass me again. 3rd spot was secondary to having had a tremendous dice with H and a thoroughly "fun" race.
