Hockenheim is a difficult track for these cars. The tracks Tony has lined up are a totally different story and I can see this being a very  popular series thumbup2

Chose Hockenheim as it felt fitting for an all german car line up. Originally I had chosen Imola.

BTW I haven't selected the tracks, history has.

Well that was awesome fun. Great job introducing these cars WT...only tried the 935 but once I'd got over the initial shock of no brakes, no steering and immense turbo lag, I couldn't wipe the smile off!

Qually went ok but my racing left a lot to be desired! Understeered off towards Luxembourg at T1, then double shifted at turn 2, and spun at T3 LOL. By the end of the first lap was plumb last and pulling away from the hairpin in what felt like a 1.3 Fiesta....oh, until the turbo kicked in that is, launching me off at Mach 1 towards hopes of a comeback drive.

Seeing Andy had dropped back a bit from 3rd, I thought it was likely a few others would do the same. Unfortunately I got a bit excited and went to pull alongside the first of two CSL's into the hairpin. Instantly locked up and just plummeted up the inside of the first and then watched in slow motion as I slid all the way into GT's door - really sorry bud, definitely wasn't going for the move!!

A bit of speed followed and then more shocking driving - eventually stuffed it into the barriers and the engine conked out....still had a smile on my face though heheh.

Hard to deny adding new cars like this injects new life into GTL, great stuff. Hope you guys enjoy the rest of the race and I really hope your car's alright GT!!

Oh man, I'm crying with laughter after reading that Grin

Hope you all had a good night. Well better than Oily's anyway  Roll Eyes

Those cars sound evil, you don't need a mirror I can tell you.

Once again thanks everyone for helping out with the test, more later.

Well that went well  laugh
I found the Burmo Teeber to be the only thing I could drive out of the two Turbos, I had several attempts
to get the 935 round quickly and I was rubbish at it, made a very tame setup for the CSLt and practiced
gentle right foot, and lots of short shifting. Seemd to work. As I had hoped the quick 935s had problems
in the 1st few laps trying to remain in the grey bits in the right direction, Ade fell last, while we were lapping
and I sneaked in front, and managed to hold on to a bit of a gap until the gap became much bigger.
Then just paced myself to the end. Dunno about tyre wear, but my rears became VERY slippy 2/3 in
I had spent most of qual trying to get the temps flat across the tyre, I "think" I may have over done it.
Ah we,, was still almost controllable

Many thanks Tony for an "inspired" series....  Grin

Well that was good fun for the first few laps, but found myself driving most of the race on me todd. I used the opportunity to practice a few power slides which eventually cost me a stop/go on the last lap, but wasn't able to select it for some reason (think my pits were over the line).

I think I might have got in the way of Purdie while being lapped at the hairpin. Sorry mate it was a bit of a jam and I didn't realise you were there until it was too late.

Hope you guys enjoy the rest of the race and I really hope your car's alright GT!!

No Problem Mr.O, it was the lightest of touches really and I know the 935 is a nightmare when it goes wrong.

My only concern apart from the tyre issue with the 935 is that the non-turbo CSL and the 934 were well off the pace here and will be even more so at the upcoming tracks, which is a shame.

Congrats to Matt and the rest of the pody/finishers Cool

My 934 was off the pace because somehow it decided to become another car  Shocked, one with a five speed gearbox and no oomph at all  Huh
Something else to investigate. Oh goody goody.

That is up there with my top sim races! Even tho I only finished 5th  Smiley

Didn't manage to get my pb in quali, kept cutting the corners on my best laps  Undecided and quali'd 4th.

Start was shaky, cold tyres had me sideways across the grid so apologies to people behind me  Roll Eyes after 2 laps I was running 2nd after getting past a few spinners before doing it myself and dropping to 8th  :'(

I think I might have got in the way of Purdie while being lapped at the hairpin. Sorry mate it was a bit of a jam and I didn't realise you were there until it was too late

No worries mate  Smiley

I got up to 4th after having some fun dices with Phil G and Dynosaur  Smiley and spun again, I chased Dynosaur and on the last lap I was putting on the pressure but ended locking-up and spinning, still 5th and finishing there  Roll Eyes

Car was mental.

It was great fun to drive this 935 monster. And I don´t think the tyre wear is an issue with these, at least I didn´t find the car uncontrollable even at the latter stages of this 25 lap race.

I didn´t have time to qualify (I was eating...) so took off as last, but I counted on you others to slip and slide which you thankfully did and I got nearer the front quite easily during the first couple of laps. PR was too fast for me as he continued to increase the gap lap after lap. Had a nice battle with Purdie, changing places a few times, until Purdie spun on the last lap, WT was a gentleman letting me past nicely at least twice Wink, thanks mate!

Grats to podium and all who attended! I had fun!

That's because there was no tyre wear last night, it was switched off on the server.

What a fun.  Cheesy
I really enjoyed it, more than I expected.
Managed to join the server just before quali begins due to an odd gremlin attack on my GTL folder.
I just couldn't find any server online, weird...after many tries of installing every 'lobby fix' I could
find, finally I was in. Had time to qualifying in 5th tho.
A nice start allowed me to get the 2nd place on turn 1, Oily went wide and I couldn't believe
I was in 1st after 20 seconds of race. But on the second lap I brake too late and hard and spun
on the left hairpin near the Mercedes stand (I believe, at least during DTM races there are zillions
of Mercedes flags there).  Grin Down to 8th and lets roll again...
I wonder how would be a race with 20 drivers with these cars, must be brilliant.  Smiley
Tony, Have you had any issue with your 934? I felt you were very slow on the straights.
Dyno and Andy were always on my mirror, but fortunately I didn't make any mistake untill the end.

Excellent idea this series. Brilliant. I guess we should tested the tire wear for real.
Tire wear adds reality factor to these cars.

After seeing the replay I understood what you were trying to tell me Phil.
Nice crash and a lovely fire in my rear end.  Cheesy

Cheers

My 934 was OK thanks Tony.  When I eventually got everything sorted - well until my next to last lap when I spun and lost my 11 sec lead over API - it went very well.  Your car was way down on acceleration and top speed I just blew if off a couple of times going down to the hairpin.  We had a number of early laps where we each had  an off allowing the other to catch up until I managed to get into the swing of things.  Thanks dynosaur, I've had lots of practice driving with one eye on the mirror trying to see where I can go off line to let faster cars through - it usually works although I missed purdie at the hair pin.  I let 2 cars through and then had to brake and move as I was worried about going into the back of braking cars (the 934 brakes are useless) and purdie came from nowhere down my left hand side.  The 935 appeared to have much better brakes.

I don't know if it's just me but after a spin only the lightest throttle caused a series of discos.

It was pleasing to set a new PB in the race about 4 secs better than on Monday.
