Is there a 3d viewer we can view the file while editing!?

Nope!

Dumb question, once downloaded, which folder do we put the skin files in?

For me it's C:\Users\Adam\Documents\iRacing\paint\cars\rt2000 (Win 7 file structure), it's within iRacing in your documents in any case.

Although there's no 3D viewer it's not as much of a pain as you might imagine.

Once you've saved your TGA file in the right place, just fire up a practice session and you can view your work. With the customisable camera's it's easy to spin round and see how it looks.

The Skip Barber template is pretty easy to work with, they seem very well laid out which helps.

Added Paul Richards Skip Barber to the list.

BTW, if you download the skins all at once in a zip file from TP it will create the appropriate directory under 'cars' to drop it into.

These skins are going to be hard to track down when you've got no naming consistency  Undecided

For Legends so far we have sponsors of

SimRacing.org.uk
Legendsracing.net
www.legendsracing.net

and equally a set of inconsistent descriptions  Roll Eyes

RTFM!!!!!

I've created two lists to manage the skins.

Skip Barber;
http://www.tradingpaints.com/view/list/94

Dallara Indycar;
http://www.tradingpaints.com/view/list/96

There doesn't need to be any naming consistency. I add them to the list and they can be downloaded in one handy zip file.

I wonder how long it will be before someone comes up with a background p2p service/app that handles automatic downloading of skins of cars in your race/division/series etc.  I'm sure something could be done on this front by the iRacing community and it would be really cool to be able to race against people's in their own car liveries.

Shame that iRacing can't do it themselves, but I can see that they'd potentially open themselves up to various copyright issues.

Cheers, Ross.

Did anyone (other than Legends Racing members) use the skins? Everything OK?

Just watch out for the patch he's working on, throwing out banana skins just like you do in SuperMarioKart Grin
