So was the tire wear for the 935 sorted? If so, I'd love to give that one a try.
My lack of preperation bit me in the end. I haven't done a pit stop in GTL in 2+ years. That is what bit me tonight. I'm so used to the pit stop sequence and methods of P&G I assumed they would be the same. Turns out they are quite different.
- No need to call for pit in GTL?
- no ability to preset strategy
- pit speed limit, but no limiter? I got a stop/go penalty. In P&G, it is either full boogie or automatic limiter
- I thought I set autopit = 0, but still, the game took over upon entering pit
- by default, fuel added is 0. (I assumed like P&G, it would be full tank). This is what ultimately got me in the end. I had no idea I didn't get fuel till I ran out.

My own fault for not practicing. At least I had good pace.

Unlucky Mike...you were racing away with that one.
A very tough race, that felt like our 1977 P&G Le Mans enduro Smiley
Good championship defending start to the season for me though...GTL Rocks!!!!

Oh man do you have a load to learn. I'll dig out an old post that spells it all out.

Firstly you must set all these things up in your player file

The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car

You can not call for a pit stop. The pit chief will appear somewhere on the pit lane as soon as you pass the traffic lights at the pit lane entrance. You should have activated the pit speed limiter before the lights. You risk a pit lane speeding penalty of a stop/go if you are too fast at the lights. Assign a key or button to operate your limiter.

No ability to preset strategy.

After the pit lane entry lights stay on the limiter and approach your pit guy. Slow to a crawl as you get near him. If the gods are with you the pit board will show. If it doesn't you have to reverse back then approach your pit guy again. Eventually you will either quit out of frustration or the board will appear.

The pit board shows what needs changing, repairing etc. Use the up/down arrows to change items and the left/right arrows to change options. This is easy enough to rehearse offline. Just set up a race and keep pitting till you get it right.
One final thing about pitting is the refuelling.

The fuel shown on your pit board is the amount of fuel currently in your car. Now repeat that last bit until it's memorised. You can then add fuel by pressing the right arrow.

Finally, and this gets loads of folk, before leaving your pit stall, you MUST turn your limiter on again. Proceed on the limiter to the exit lights and once passed them turn the limiter off and go on to a famous victory.

Hope this helps. Ask away if your still puzzled by anything OK?

Thanks for the detailed explanation Tony. I'll be sure to practice next time. I hate it when I do stupid things which cost me a victory.
I obviously need to practice starts with these cars. I'm not used to having the power of god under my right foot.

What happened to you?

Ella had her jabs yesterday and has been a little off colour since, started screaming just as I passed start line, not to worry, I had hardly practiced as it was.

That was sweaty work.

Nearly didn't finish this one. With about five laps to go I suffered a huge hang. You know the sort - car stops dead in the middle of the track, revving its scallops off. Usually recovers with the car heading straight for a wall. But no, this time it carried on from where it stopped, albeit having cost me 15 seconds. However, there was now major graphics corruption, including the whole start/finish area past the pits appearing to have been turfed over. Very difficult to see where the track was at times and other cars were leaving long, swirling trails of white and blue, which is why I was all over the place when you were trying to pass me Paulo. Sorry about that.

Despite having more dental treatment again today, no painkillers were required this time so I can't blame the hallucinatory experience on them!  Cheesy Good race all, hats off to all those nutters who took the 935.

Yes I saw that moment on the straight Phil, I put it down to turbo lag at the time Smiley

Bit of a dull race for me really. Somehow I'd convinced myself that the 6+ secs a lap difference between the turbos and the non turbo CSL would be overcome by a razor sharp strategy and others stopping for regular plays in the gravel. When I found myself in 5th spot at T2 I thought it might just happen Hit with a wet fish

The non turbo CSL is a great car to drive, but unfortunately just doesn't stand a chance in this company. Looks like I'm going to have to tame one of the monsters  Shocked

Congrats to pody and well done to the finishers in what must have been an exhausting race. Dunno how Mike was able to jump in a car he'd never driven on at an unfamiliar track and be that fast.  I Am Not Worthy

I have joined server with the Alpine.  eek
As the majority guys were on BMWs and just one or two in 935, I jumped into the 935 also.
It is a fine nice power with good handle car.....for 5 laps only.  whistling
That was exactly the laps I was in the lead before my tires melted. Car was spining wheels exiting
every damn corner (maybe too much throtle sensitivity for sure?) anyway, couldn't handle it
after a 5 laps stint. That's why I have pitted 2 times for tires and a last time for a splash & dash
of 3 laps fuel. In between, albeit few people racing I had company for some laps, chasing or being
chased. Nice first official race tho and hats off to ADE and how he managed to spare his tires.

Congrats to podium  and to all finishers.

Phil you were driving quite well by then, I just thought you were strugling with your tires.  Smiley

Cheers
