Moderator's Report

Despite being told once during qualifying and once at the start of the race, a number of people continued to run in the rain with no lights on. It's a particularly silly thing to do if you're in a black car.

Server replay time: 572s

Mo is coming up to lap as-here as they reach turn 8. As-here suddenly slows much more than Mo is expecting and the latter rear ends him.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 948s

Mark Jonzo spins in turn 1 and Shark cannot avoid him.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 1312s

Greg's trying to lap Jamera; he fails to get by before turn 2, but as they come to turn 4, Jam seems to be leaving room for Greg to pass, and the latter attempts to do so. Unfortunately, Jam appears to have gone in a bit deep and then turned in later than normal, and he turns in over Greg's nose.

Luckily neither car spins or goes off.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 1918s

Shark allows Jon Chadwick to lap him on the main straight, and Gerald goes past too. The first marker board had been knocked down in an earlier off and Shark, unsighted by the spray from Jon's car, totally misjudges where he is on the track, and runs off the runway and onto the gravel and dirt.

He slides back onto the track at high speed whilst trying to avoid running head first into the tyre wall, and collects Gerald who is minding his own business braking for T2 Both of them go off, luckily neither into the tyres.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 2581s

Dave Gymer is nursing his battered F360 into T6 and Mo, who is about to lap him, gets caught out by his early braking, and there is light rear end contact.

  • Racing incident

I second that - it was certainly the most enjoyable race i've had so far.

Congrats on the Pole Jamera - look forward to seeing you for NGT sprints.

Thirded. The wet certainly made GTR feel fresh, new and exciting again, amazing after all this time. Although it would not have been much good without the excellent driving etiquette, especially the "no before you" moments from Dave and I Wink

Got home after a weekend today to find my PC completely screwed, I suspect the mobo or CPU has fritzed  :'(
Can't tell you how much I was looking forward to this one, loads of praccy on my favourite track.

Bad luck - NGT numbers were really thin - and I missed our obligatory tussle. :'(

Cheers Dave, congrats on the win. you're nearly there!  Grin

Looks like it might be my PSU that's gone which is an easy fix. Fingers crossed I'll be back at Oscher! (hopefully much earlier)

Pleased with 3rd place, particularly as two weeks ago couldn't complete one lap without falling off the track, not a track I have previously driven a lot. Glad I took time on Saturday to complete an off-line wet race to tune my wet setting. Thanks to Shark for his setups as I've been using those recently with slight modifications to allow for race distance etc.

Qualified 7th and gained a few places thanks to people falling off in front of me, a few pitstops by others saw me in 2nd place after about 35mins and 2nd was looking a possibility but Mo's pace was too much for me and he re-took the place with about 10mins to go. The couple of earlier minor spins possibly cost me the place also. I need to work on my race pace.

Good driving by the NGTs etc when coming up to lap them was much appreciated. One point to note; there were some without lights on.

car felt good again at least before the dreaded 1fps bug got me Angry

Tough break - I had terrible stutters for a couple of minutes when I first joined and then it settled down. Just loading textures I guess. Huh Undecided

I solved my stuttering in bad/changeable weather by setting 'vbstrategy=0' in config.ini file. This really did make a huge difference on my system.
There's a great thread over at RSC about stuttering and how to solve it.

Hi Guys I always used to be good in wet I was on the hard wets and wish I had gone full distance now. The wet certainly made it interesting ,a tip from an ex real racer dont go out on the outside of the corners its usually v slippery, if you noticed I was getting better braking off the normal line. gerald

It still amazes me that a 'game' can allow you to use real life knowledge like that and benefit.

Was going along fine, took soft wet tyres and they seemed to start to go off after 20 mins so I thought pit in change tyres to hard wets and repair damage..... Drove to my pit stall and slowed down, then it happened....Nothing, no pitboard or any options so I pitted out went around again and the same thing happened  Huh

Didn't we have a thread about this recently? If the crew hasn't called you in for fuel or tyres you need to tell them you're coming or they don't get ready for you.

I also noticed during testing that if you cut the corner on the pit entry lane you don't even get your pit stall marker!

This could be the case. I spun on the way in but was given a pit marker though I didn't call in and tell the lads I was on me way   Cheesy
I did notice that the pit lane speed limit ended where the man is standing at the end of the pit stalls and not where the last set of lights were.
Thanks for explaination Dave Smiley  Grats to SBG, Dave and shark for their class wins  Cool And to the rest of you who finished  Wink

Courtesy of TV Shark, here's Team Shark team-mates Simon and Luis doing some wonderfully coreographed "track exit maneovers". We practiced this before the race so I was well pleased we pulled it off so well.  Wink  Tongue

Can't believe I almost forgot to mention it Luis!  Grin

P.S. Sorry about the slightly in-out focus of the video.

9.9 for choreography and 9.8 for technicality, if you ask me.
It’s wonderful to see how hard training can be this rewarding Grin
And when I think we practice it with wheels and tyres and we still managed to pull it so well only on brake disk, it's like a dream come true Grin
