Tried the turbo beemer and in my hands it would be a bag of bits by the end of lap one.

So I'm going in the GREEN Gr.5. Beemer cos I had a great time tearing around the nolife innit innit.

First off, apologies to those who had trouble with my skin. I was using the team KC one from our custom skin pack which most of our regulars would already have. Thinking about it now, Tony said  Grin I do seem to remember someone mentioning that it was unlikely to be needed in this series because nobody would be foolish enough likely to use the standard cars Roll Eyes

The RSR was so much fun around here I couldn't resist taking it. Also from xd it looked certain that a one stop would be possible, which with the longest pit entry in the world, would make it a little more viable. As it turned out, the pit entry was my undoing, as xd didn't take this into account and I ran out of fuel on the pit straight Hit with a wet fish

Apologies Paulo as I rejoined right in front of you almost taking you out. I didn't see or hear you approaching and I did check. You were the first car I'd seen for about 20 mins Roll Eyes

Hope we at least had a pody at the end of all that.......well done to all finishers  Cool

Joining up was a last minute thing so I will say my hello's and nice to meet ya fellas now. Some of you know me from GTLDK. We had a decent run at Brands last week so I thought I'd try and catch the Nords race with the rest of you fellas. Was a ton of fun until I ran out of fuel Embarrassed As soon as Cosworth said "fuel" my car started starving out too and I knew I was DOA. Either way it was fun while it lasted and look forward to running with everyone whether it be here or GTLDK races. Cheers and a big congrats to Mike Miller, podium finishers and anyone else that survived the Green Hell Wink

I love the ring when I mostly stay on, it is soooo frustrating, yet so rewarding if I can resist the temptation to push
beyond my skill. Made an utter whitebait of the start, and spun with too much power in T1, same story as at Portimao
and other places, the problem is that I can't distinguish my own engine noise from the mass of cars around, and have
no idea I am flooring it until it spins. I've set "other cars" to 20% now so maybe It will be better.

Great race anyway, enjoyed chasing and catching then passing - mostly as people fell off, had some contact with Marco
as he slewed back and forth across the road and I hit his truncheon with my neck for a change  Wink
not sure I could have sustained sub 9's for 7 laps, but perhaps if I had not had to spend so much time dicing with people after my mishaps
(1st to 10th in one corner !) I "might" have taken the fight to you for some of the time at least Mike. Fuel was very marginal, I used a long 5th
and short shifted quite a bit before the stops not sure if the game simulates fuel consumption that well but unlike some
unfortunates I got into my pit at the end of lap 4 with the blue light flashing and the red petrol pump solid red.

Results and replay now posted

This circuit is growing on me, mainly because I'm not crashing quite so often. Sorry for bugging out at the end, I wasn't being rude, my ISP was having BT troubles apparently.

Lets try to keep the chatter to a minimum during qually please guys and definately hush up during the race unless it's Bill (go left) Wink

Championship is getting a bit tasty at the top, hope Pribeiro can hold his nerve  Undecided

I'm not a fan of the Nordschleife. It is a very stressful course with little passing room. I knew I wouldn't have the pace here so I didn't do any practice till just before quali. I knew the track well, but didn't know what these beasts would do on it. I quickly found that fuel would be tight so I adjusted gearing to a long 4th and 5th.

I held onto Schens and Navin for the first 2 laps learning how quickly the car could in each section of the track along the way. I made a mistake early in the 3rd lap and lost touch. Cosworth got by and drove off into the sunset. He was mighty quick here. At the end of lap 3, I took to the pit lane to top off the tanks. Schens got out right behind me and drove hard till he went off at a fast section of the track. From there, I backed off a bit knowing I needed to save fuel. Coasting into corners and short shifting and generally driving slower allowed me to save enough fuel to get to the end.

There's no secret at all that I don't like Nordschleife and Monaco.

That's why I didn't even qualified (same as Cosworth), or I could get too bored to make all the 7 race laps.

Anyway, I was there to race. Cosworth and me started last, but at the end of first lap we were at top 6
very close to the top 3. That was when things began to went wrong.
At the very final chicane just before the GP track begins, Dick Dastarly and Mutley pulled the wall into the track  shifty and I lost my rear wing.  Roll Eyes
No need to say that I had to do a complete lap in the GP layout untill I was able to enter the pits.  eek
With no rear wing this Turbo fellows are undrivable, lost more than 2 minutes doing that. Lost another 2 minutes in pits for repairs. So I changed all strategy  yes new tires, full tank fuel again and 6 laps of huge boring slow driving to spare fuel and tires. It kind work tho, I managed to get the 5th place only 50 seconds behind 4th, but with my rear tires with +40 wear.  w00t

Big congrats to podium and all finishers.

I am sure that I would love to race in real life at Nords. It would be very different undoubtedly!

Cheers

hush up during the race unless it's Bill (go left) Wink

Too worn out/busy trying to stay on the track to chat last night - I've gone off in the past trying to be polite.  Huh  Anyway, don't recall you being in a lapping situation last night. devil

It was odd last night - fuel consumption - I checked my fuel when I saw the chat on running out of fuel and saw I was tight to complete my 4 lap stint to Pit Stop.  I short shifted a bit on the windy bits and made it OK.

Chuffed to finish, usual position - last on the road.  Set a new PB qualifying and just managed to pip in in the race by a few tenths of a second - shows I was at the limit of my capabilities.

Made a good start and got ahead of Tony we had battle for a few miles until I ran wide onto the grass and he got by.  Passed him later after he'd had an off and let my by, only for me to run wide and let him through again - the last I saw of him.  After that it was concentrate and try and avoid any major errors - had a few bounce along the Armco moments but nothing like a car wrecking crash.

i'm a little bit confused. watched the replay and a lot of guys cuts the track for the pit. i thought the "allow cut" was only for qualifying?
in my eyes, this rule makes no sense in race. blink

Hmmmmm..... I would have made it to my pitstop had I done that. On the other hand I was relying on some having to stop twice with the long in lap to claw back some time, so can't have it both ways. I agree that these things should be made clear before the event to avoid confusion and any unfair advantage.
