Does that mean that it was allowed to cut to the pits during race?
If so, I lost +2 minutes doing the whole lap to get to repairs for nothing?  Roll Eyes

@paulo
thats the question. tony said something in the q about cutting track, but i guessed it was only to avoid the long outlap in q and not to cut the hole GP part in race?
anyway, there is a solution: DQ for all cutters devil

Ofcourse that Tony let us cut the track on qual to avoid the longgggggggggggggggggg out lap,
but is obvious that in race we have to stick with the rules.
I remember Tony warned us during qual for the procedure pit entry (Tony even apologise for talking during qual while his warning).
Time for FIA commissioners aka Tony, work.  Grin

Your both right and wrong Paulo.

1) I stated in practise before qually that I would be turning a blind eye to anyone who wanted to circumvent the outlap by any means.

2) At the end of qually I also stated that one method of pit lane entry was to stay on the right hand side of the track and to drive between the cones.

Those that didn't heed my words of wisdom only have themselves to blame.

I agree with PR on this.  Henry asked the question and Tony outlined the correct pit entry in detail.  I'd been using this during practice with my fuel consuption tests and didn't even know there was a CHEAT.  Tony also said that during the race we would have to use the correct entry and not the short cut.

Definitely a change in finishing order is Warranted.

I followed Tony's pre-race advice. If you were to finish the lap and then go through the entire GP circuit before you pit, don't you have to do the entire GP circuit again before taking to the Nordschleife? How would the lap counter treat this? You guys didn't get a cut warning?

Oh dear, how do I manage to cause all this grief all on my own  Huh

I think what's happening here is peoples interpretation of what I said at the end of qually. Mike's right, Bill sorry but your not. I had meant that you enter the pits before undertaking the GP circuit. I hadn't even appreciated going any other way, ever!

That of course doesn't make me right, I know that now, but at the time it did, if you see what I mean?

Bill, if you feel cheated out of a place I'll file a report and get the mods to swop us around ok? I'm honestly not bothered.

Well I needed 2 stops and the fact that others ran out of fuel suggests they also needed 2.

If I had known I could cut the track I would not have run out of fuel.

IMO the cheat (which I presume was cutting through the tyres at the top section) should not have been used in quali. Quali was increased to 40 mins to allow for the length of the lap/outlap and this should have been adhered to.

The shortcut in race I believe involves driving to the right of the cones as one enters the stadium section and is a totally different matter. This should never have been done and as such IMO should be a DQ.

I think confusion reigned over the pitting  Huh - there are no Pit Signs.  I take Mike's point about doing the Stadium Section twice, the lap counter coped OK I ran 6 laps and that's what Xd told me.  thumbup1

Tony I didn't find the way in you suggested  no (didn't know it existed - had seen chat about a cheat in the past  helpsmilie) but guess after that last tight Chicane you go straight on rather than bear left into the Stadium.  I've never used the pit entrance I used before as we've never had an enduro here before.  I assumed that that was the correct entry for this variant of the track.  whistling Can any Ring specialist tell use which is the correct race entrance used in the 24 hr race here?

Finally, with all this confusion, I guess we could have been DQed for leaving the track contrary to the Race Director's instructions.  I Am Not Worthy I accept the result Tony.  thumbup2

Interesting.

I heard and noted Tony's comment about taking a short cut in Qual, but chose to do a "warm up lap" round the full track
before recording a time on my 2nd lap, and therefore my 1st (and only) flying lap, got round in under 9 mins so that will do
was not expecting to be pole, but hey people fall off a lot here.  Roll Eyes

I used Tony's advice to "keep right on start/finish straight" to pit (once only) actually for me was opposite to some
I had not even thought of going all the way round the new part to get to the "real" pit entrance
In practice It showed I had done 4 laps including the short new part only "outlap" and ran out of fuel trying to get back to the
pit entrance as I had overshot, if I had kept right and slowed enough and not had to do the short outlap I would have made the pit stall no problem, so had no expectations of needing two stops. The "4 laps" might have been 4 times round the new part, and only 3 round the old, either way 4 laps with long gearing, and a bit of short shifting worked fine in the race

hehe, you know racing is not only to drive as fast as you can. it includes also a strategy part.^^
you did 4 complete laps + maybe 500m. thats enough to finish the race with only one stop. the secret is, that you had to do your stop after lap3.
your plan:
stint1: 4laps + GP part; stint2: 3laps
the right plan: 3laps + GP part; stint2: 4laps Wink
all others who ran out of fuel did the same mistake.

and i guess it was bill who showed, that you can do also 4 laps + GP part if you change your style/gearbox and save enough fuel.

you were one of the guys who did the correct pit entrance during the race. Wink
the shortcut, which we are talking about is on the start-finish straight. before you pass the finish/start line there are some cones on the right hand side. there you can leave the track in the pitlane;)

if we come to the nordschleife in the le mans series, you will see, that this shortcut doesn't work on this version. if you still use it, you your lap doesn't count and you have to do one more lap.  laugh

You are of course correct Henry. Pit on 3 laps, fill up and roll over the line on fumes to complete the 7th lap.

I aways like to do the short stint lastm then my tyres are fresher than the early stoppers which could give me a chance to overtake someone. thumbup1
