Hmm, well I got utterly mugged off the start, couldn't get to the inside line and half the field came streaming past. After that I was stuck behind Legzy, Pops and Mike; Mike made a break for the leaders and I followed Pops through, but the only way I was going to get past Pops was a dive bomb, and I couldn't see that working without ending up barging him out the way. Then with a lap or so to go he spluttered and I was through. I can see how people can find it exciting, but I just found it frustrating. It's not like I could try different lines, or try and set up a pass with a good corner exit - without a major mistake from the car ahead I was just stuck and that was that. Finally I think I can see a use for Push to Pass! I tried a bit of full on drifting in the corners and found it wasn't a lot slower than driving properly. Impractical for the race though.

Well I got mugged. Running happily in 3rd but the car started suffering more & more under-steer. Eventually that meant enough of a gap for the car behind to poke his nose inside of me & that was it... I was banished to a wider line till one by one 4 cars came past me on the inside :'( :'( :'( Nothing I could do about three of them, but I didn't get myself accross well enough to hold off the final one (Team Mate Blunder ). Shame it was only 12 mins & shame there were only 9 of us. I quite enjoy the little ovals & seem to do quite well... but I think I've found I prefer the bigger ovals (except Lowes), despite being considerably more rubbish at them. You just get more of a sense of tension & literally wheel to wheel & bumper to bumper racing. I can understand the Gymer twins comments about tonight being a bit single file. Finally, thought I'd mention again what a lovely car that is . I'd race that anywhere (please).

Yes, shame about the turnout, but perhaps not that surprising given that this is really a road racing league and there is such a lot of other good racing around.
Qual was surprisingly short as I expected more time (I was putting the kids to bed in the gap). 4 laps would also have been better than 2, but from the sound of it Iain thought he asked for 4 - odd? Anyway, despite a couple of rather scrappy laps I ended up on pole. Simon put a bit of pressure on in the first few laps but once in the swing of things I could ease away and run to the finish. I sort of agree with Simon but when you get drivers very close in pace the racing can be quite intense - one little error is all it takes, and since you can't afford to leave a gap on the inside you end up being too conservative and letting someone get a run on you. This does need a skillful driver though to exploit the opportunity, as you need to follow another car very closely into and through the corner.
Oxford Plains is a better short track to race IMO - wider, no barriers and less banking is a good recipe for racing.

Mmmm, it's a while since I've done such a short oval. Seemed to be just getting into it when we saw the chequered flag!? I agree with all the previous comments.. apart from Lowes! Great in the Silverado!

The entry/exit on those short ovals can be very confusing Andy.
The exit is the green cones and the entry is the yellow cones.

4 laps would also have been better than 2, but from the sound of it Iain thought he asked for 4 - odd? I'm 99% sure I selected 4 qualifying laps, not 2. I've emailled support to see if they can check in case it's a bug but, of course, I could just have made a mistake.

When you qualify you get put in the first pit stall (closest to the exit) instead of the one you had been using, presumably because you are the only one on track in oval qual sessions. I made the same mistake as you the first time

Yes, but circle racing doesn't sound as good as oval racing.

Yes, but circle racing doesn't sound as good as oval racing. One of them must be egg shaped!

Oxford is much closer to being a 'true' geometric oval than Lanier. I'm sure that helps the discussion
