Eased off at the end as I had another big screen semi-freeze
What Anti-virus are you using Clive? I recently tried AvG and it was giving me screen freezes in P&G even with a quad core Phenom! Uninstalled it and stuck Avast back on and it runs perfectly again. Thought I should mention it on the off chance that that's your problem

I'm using SOPHOS.
It had just done it's update and wasn't due to do anything else.
I might have a RAM problem. ie Not enough. 1.5 GB at the moment and the motherboard will only take 2 GB.

Clive, Ade gave a link to a handy piece of software that effectively turned everything off before you raced. If he reads this perhaps he could post a link?

Not sure that RAM is the culprit though. If the sim runs fine then after a length of time you get screen graphic problems I think I would be taking a look at your graphics card.

Sounds like overheating. Same thing happened to my 8800GT over the summer. Set the fan to 60-70% on manual rather than automatic and it stopped. I leave it on 30% now for general use and turn it up for gaming.

I shall try aiming a dirty great fan at the thing with the side panel removed.
On another tack, has anyone had problems with rapportmgmtservice.exe or rapportservices.exe? Its a new security thing for online banking that my wife loaded on the pc at about the time that I started getting these problems.

Why not set up separate accounts on your PC? Then your wife can load whatever she pleases and it shouldn't effect you.

How do you do that Tibs? My problems are from overheating, im pretty sure. Dont know whether its cpu or gfx card but does seem heat related.

As I said earlier, I'm running an nVidia 8800GT and I installed an old version of nTune for it. I did that before I installed the latest drivers though so it could have been replaced with nVidia System Tools when I updated them. There's an ATI equivalent as well but I can't remember what it's called. When mine was overheating it would freeze for 5-30 seconds then the textures would be swapped over, like this:

That's what I get too but in my case it usually clings on in there. I might end up in the gravel but it doesn't CTD. I can't understand, if it is the GFX card over heating, why it recovers. Once it has had it's hissy fit it runs fine again. My disconnection at Goodwood was different. It just froze without any change in fps. And come on Legzy, tell us what the car is for next week!!!!! And is there any truth in the rumour that the one after that, at Monaco, will be in GT40 Mk2?

No, that would be stupid . It's the L88 Nah, due to popular demand (Ginsters just insisted on them! )... it'll the Elan's at Monaco.
