Singapore GP Circuit converted by 6ecko from the rFactor version by Slimjim.

Link for packaged version according to SROuk rules:
http://www.filefront.com/15481867/SRou_Singapore08_1.0.0.0.exe/

This was my first time using Dave’s installer scripts. Nice work Dave. Everything should be in order. I have followed the instructions and checked that the .hat file is removed.

NoGrip Link for GTR2 version:
http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=16766

rFactor central Link for rFactor version:
http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=Singapore

The GTR2 version of the track is a conversion from an rFactor version by slimjim. According to the info in the rFactor link, the original rFactor track has a ‘composite’ origin. I assume that this means the track was made from composite images or some similar method. The Singapore track does not have a professional release on any other sim as far as I am aware. Therefore, it can not be an illegal conversion.

According to the NoGrip link, the GTR2 version was converted with permission from slimjim.

The readme of the GTR2 version specifies that the track is not changed without permission. Does this mean that we can not change corner cutting detection? No mention of re-distribution limitations in the readme so it should be ok to upload to the SROuk downloads page.

Testing:
I have run this track both on and off line. I ran it on my server in the public lobby to test on line. I only ever had a maximum of 11 drivers. It is hard to get large numbers of people together. I have tried it with the official cars and the UKGTR car pack.
-The track shows up in the track list and has the correct track info.
-No CTDs when loading.
-Non generic .hat file name used.
-Correct warning issued when going the wrong way around the track.
-Corner cutting detections needs to be made much more intolerant.
-Frame rates are good. Running a night race with a full grid is no worse than spa in the afternoon. I have tested with a mid spec system:
Core 2 duo E8400
ATI 4870 1Gb
2Gb DDR2 RAM
Win XP SP2 with some SP3 updates. 32 – bit.
Gazza49er also reports good frame rates with a low end system:
CPU: P4 3.4
Graphics card: 9600GT 500MB
2GB Memory
Win XP SP3 32 – bit.

Bugs found:
-According to a post in the NoGrip link, this track does conflict with another version of the Singapore track due to the names of the track’s folders being the same.
-The AI cars mess up at the end of the formation lap.
-The race ends too early when using timed races.
-Position of pit crew does not match with position of white lines when making a pit stop in a race. The pit stop system still works fine.
-There is a hole between the barriers at the end of the run off area at T18. It is in the right hand side of the track just as the track comes along side the water of the Marina Bay and the floating platform. There is a vertical pole in the way, but you can drive straight through it. You would have to drive there on purpose to find it really.
-At T16, if the run off area is used then you receive a corner cut warning, unfortunately.

Potential issues:
-The track only has 12 pit garages. 3 cars in each.
-Not many Marshals have flags. The HUD flags work fine. I think the real track has a lights system.

Gamers crib have used this track:
http://www.gamers-crib.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6345

They mention an error with a mod they tested but that seemed to be the cars not the track. They then had a successful race by changing to the R247 GT1 pack from R247’s last season. The drivers at Gamers crib did not report any errors with the track.

Personal Opinion:
This track would make a nice change to the tracks that we currently use. I am sure that it is not everyone’s cup of tea but, it is well made and has the night lighting. It is probably the most usable of the street circuits available and it should offer good racing in Sports Cars. It does get tight in some sections, but it is wide in others allowing for overtaking and lapping.

"Composite origin" usually means that various parts were taken from different sources and assembled into a new whole.

If it ends short we'd need to do a UKGTR version anyway so the cutting mods could be made to that.

Nice. Smiley

I forgot to mention that I added another readme because the original is a .doc with bullet points on other things. The installer did not like it so I have copied the text to a .txt file.

The original .doc has been left in.

Did you want me to have a go at sorting out the time and corner cut problems? Or do you have that covered Dave? That is of course if it is being considered. angel

I just found out how to sort out the race time issue (thanks Haiku) but I am not yet sure how to do the corner cut business.

I haven't done the corner cutting stuff at all - Shark handled the standard tracks and I don't think we've ever had to bother elsewhere.

Well, the instructions to use the program that can edit the cut corridors (the free program anyway) were on RSC but, since the site had a few issues some of the archive forum stuff was missing including the info about the software I was looking into. I could not find the info that I needed from else where either. I really could not figure it out for myself.

I have not been back to see if the instructions have been put back up recently but, I will be looking into it again soon.

The software is called 'AIW Editor'. I will keep you posted if/when I manage to sort this out. Smiley
